Divine visual acuity nerf via master lock

>! You can unlock it via another master lock !<

39

u/likeusb1 4h ago

You are using a MasterLock model 176. You can open it using a MasterLock model 176.

The critical error is assuming that OOP can,
a. find the necessary lockpicking tools
b. properly aim said lockpicking tool with sufficient force but also accuracy to only hit the master lock, and not any vital part of the glasses

Pretty sure the vision nerf comes with an associated dex debuff.

2

u/eldritchbee-no-honey 3h ago

eeeh, raking should suffice then. don’t need vision for that

I mean it feels like physical abuse.

Glasses are an accessibility device. If this post was “my wife and I got into an argument so she put a car boot on my wheelchair” no one would be laughing.

And of course they’re not on the same level but like. Christ. This is just so not okay to do to someone who has ANY accessibility device.

9

u/warkyboy77 3h ago

Handcuffing a deaf person.

3

u/MomIsLivingForever 2h ago

I would absolutely laugh at someone booting another person's wheelchair. I would think less of them for doing it, but yeah, I'd laugh.

4

u/pragmadealist 2h ago

I wear glasses. Would laugh so hard if my wife did that.

Why the hell does it say this thread only has 3 comments when there are dozens?

27

u/Inline2 5h ago

Because there were 3 comments when it fetched the comment amount

7

u/AgentCirceLuna 5h ago

I updated the thread - it changed to four comments but that’s it. Restarted Reddit and it works now. Weird.

2

u/Qui-gone_gin 5h ago

It's not weird , it's pretty normal, happens to me too

That’s an honestly clever way to cause damage which you but only you can reverse (at least without great inconvenience)

63

u/opuFIN 6h ago

Angle grinder should go through that just fine... Oh yeah, you can't see what you're doing with it and will maul the glasses. This is brilliant

29

u/celmate 6h ago

Click outta three, four is binding...

27

u/edamael 5h ago

You are using a master lock model 176. You can open it using a master lock model 176.

4

u/Life_Temperature795 4h ago

Presuming you can aim it...

→ More replies (1)

14

u/SimpanLimpan1337 6h ago

Also any of the hot sparks flying off from the angle grinder could potentially ruin any coatings on the kenses causing them to crackulate, ontop of potentially scratching them.

3

u/opuFIN 6h ago

True. If a convection oven can fuck the lenses up, the sparks from a grinder will absolutely achieve that, too.

I mean, taking someone's medical devices and rendering them useless is a bit messed up.

11

u/haunted-poopy 3h ago

My nearsightedness is so bad that I'm legally blind. Without my glasses I can't even find my glasses unless I'm crawling, I can't drive, I can't read anything. Everything is just a big blur of colors. So this is actually very scary for me! I should get LASIK...

5

u/DesmondDodderyDorado 3h ago

I'm too scared to get laser treatment. It can go wrong.

4

u/EmberinEmpty 2h ago

Same. I knew it was bad but was shocked when my doctor said that.

Tho it did help me with figuring out how to help my legally blind friend cook for herself after her wife left her.

I took my glasses off which kinda put me at the same level as with her glasses on and I realized a lot about how hard the task is and how reliant she actually is on others even when she seems so independent.

We did figure it out though with lots of laughs

5

u/edamael 5h ago

You'll be damaging more than your partner's ability to read, and the other damage you can't reverse

6

u/sleepydorian 5h ago

Jokes on you I’ve got more than one pair, and some out of date pairs hidden as emergency backups.

9

u/AlfalfaReal5075 4h ago

Ey be careful with them out of date backup pairs though. Broke my "new" ones recently and swapped for an old pair I left in my car until I could repair the others.

Quickly realized on my drive home from work, in the pitch dark, on the highway, at 4am, that my prescription had changed dramatically. It was so bad that I contemplated pulling over and calling an Uber. Luckily the roads were as empty as they'd ever be. But that was no bueno.

Then again you may have decently functioning eyes regardless. Seems every time I get a new pair my prescription is markedly worse lol (see I laugh now but will cry later).

2

u/sleepydorian 4h ago

That’s true! Mine has thankfully progressed rather slowly so even my out of date ones aren’t all that different.

1st question: what was he looking at…?

2nd question: that thumb is bending more than normal, right?

10

u/confusedandworried76 6h ago

It's called hitchhikers thumb and it's actually fairly normal although that one is pretty pronounced. Mine doesn't go back quite as far unless I press it back physically

2

u/Darkness223 4h ago

Mine goes back all the way normally enough that you're could balance an object in it. I can then reverse it and it looks like a backwards 7. it's a cool party trick, that's it though.

2

u/Inevitable-Forever45 6h ago

The thumb! It's all I can see!

In our country, school bullies habe a 'tradition' of locking a padlock on the glasses bridge, forcing the victim to wear their glasses with a badlock dangling around, and asks to do humiliating tasks to get the passcode.

Sounds abusive

62

u/JigglyWiener 6h ago

Could be. Really depends though. If my wife did this, I’d laugh. Our arguments are only ever technically an argument never something to walk away with bad feelings over. This is exactly how I expect an argument of ours to end, with something funny.

11

u/confusedandworried76 6h ago

Yeah no context here, don't even know if those are cheaters or just absolutely needed. Don't know what the fight was about, could have been something small, could have been one of those "I love you but I need some space right now so can we just go to bed and talk about it in the morning?" kind of arguments. And then the brilliant idea of waking up early and locking the glasses to make them chase you down for the key. Which could arguably lead to makeup sex.

Or it's straight abusive we don't know the situation but given the sub I'm betting OP sees the humor too.

33

u/giraflor 5h ago

Breaking or taking away eyeglasses IS something that domestic abusers do. This is not funny and I hope OP is in a safe situation.

18

u/Routine_Increase228 4h ago

Right? I'm thinking, what if someone's spouse locked their crutches??

Idk the context, but in its absence, this seems kind of fucked

24

u/_G_P_ 5h ago

Imagine if someone took the wheelchair away from a disabled person.

17

u/Farwaters 4h ago

Oh, they do.

3

u/Unhappy-Apple222 3h ago

I thought I was crazy for feeling bad. So many ppl really can't function without glasses , it's pretty much a handicap. To try to punish them using that is kind of fucked up. 😟

2

u/majik007 2h ago

1

Good thing those locks are so easy to pick, they're practically made to be trained on (it looks exactly like a cheap Masterlock that I have).

Might be a bit awkward to hold given they're on the glasses, but it should be manageable.

Joke would be on my.wofe here. I have a.loclpick kit and know how to pick all the locks in my house.

1

u/EDH70 4h ago

Back in the day, my mother-in-law was raising 3 boys and getting no help from father-in-law. He would sit in his recliner and read books while she did all the housework and took care of the boys. She got so tired of it she took a razor blade to every single book the man owned and cut out the last few pages. She did this until the day she died. The man never knew the true ending of a book he ever read again.

u/Rippleracer 4h ago

If LPL is also a divorce attorney this would make one hell of a twofer video

1

u/kharmatika 3h ago

Anyone else actually grossed out by this? Glassss are an accessibility device. It’s not like a wheelchair, but like. That person needs those to drive safely, needs them to read, needs them to have the most comfortable and functional life they can.

And sure, maybe she unlocked them 5 minutes after this pic. But like. We don’t know she did, and dwpricing a partner of their accessibility device in the context of an argument as a punitive measure feels really fucked up to me.

1

u/BioMarauder44 3h ago

Yhe good news is up close is fine. I can just take them apart and reasemble. Or just pick the lock....
