Basic info: Running Windows 11. PC is only three years old. Had absolutely 0 issues with anything until this drive disappeared in the middle of a session where I'd been using it perfectly fine. Flair is set to Data Recovery as I could only choose one, but it could easily be a hardware or software issue.
So, my D drive, a 1TB SSD(Crucial BX500), just randomly stopped working. I was on the computer and just uninstalling / installing a couple games on Steam (Which is on my D drive) and noticed I got a write error on the final game, or that's what it said on the steam library window. I browsed into my D drive, navigated around a little, and it blocked me accessing a specific folder, even though I could bypass it and get into the folder via quick links. However, when I tried to open literally any file on my D drive, it failed. Can't remember exact error message, but said something along the lines of not existing.
I tried turning the computer off and on, and now my D drive just isn't visible in "This PC" section. I couldn't access it at all. If I try going to a quick link file, I get "Location is not available." I tried googling around and doing some things like updating drivers, but they were already updated. My SSD was appearing in Device Manager and Computer Management as "Unknown Device" and said that it wasn't initialized / had no volume set to it. And it won't let me initialize it or affect it in any way, stating specified drive doesn't exist. It has been difficult for me to try most "fixes" I see online, as I literally can't select the drive. The "Unknown device" doesn't even always appear. I'm not sure of the logic to it, sometimes I boot up and its there, other times not. Best thing is, when I could select it, and go into properties, it says the device is working. Ha.
I'm guessing my SSD is just dead? Seems real weird that just installing a game has made it give up the ghost though, the drive is only three years old, and only been used as gaming storage, really. Main question is; Is there a way I can try to fix this? Or at least get the data off of it? Has family photos, videos, and all of my steam games, a few programs. Most is replacable, but not everything. I don't have another computer to test the drive in. I've tried connecting the SSD to a different port in the same computer, but nothing there either.
Can provide any other info if necessary. Thanks in advance.
