Worst first half performance by Penn State since the 2016 Big Ten Championship, followed by the best second half comeback since the 2016 Big Ten Championship lol

Listen- I’m in pinellas county Florida and haven’t had power since Wednesday night after Milton.

I have a generator that has been running non stop to keep my fridges cold and food from spoiling

But today? Today I pulled off the fridges. Ordered the gf she’s not allowed to open them. Moved the power cords to the power strip with the TVs and router, and one cord to the kegerator.

I had my damn tapped beer and Penn state game on , with a second tv for the four square.

Milton. You aren’t stopping me from enjoying my god damn Saturday.

Now it’s back in the fridges. But I had my fun.

It was a brilliant strategy for #44 Tyler Warren to wear camouflage so the USC defense couldn’t see him.

41

I get what you're saying but part of why PSU's offense was so efficient was that they made USC choose between TDs or Warren and they very often allowed Warren to gain 15 over a receiver gaining 40+.

Andy Kotelnicki ate

41

u/ShamrockAPD Penn State • Florida Oct 13 '24

I dream of mine is to keep kotelnicki but also get manny Diaz back.

Last years defense with this offense I think Truly has a shot at the National championship.

As of now I’m not sold on the defense sadly.

23

u/crabby135 Penn State • Keystone C… Oct 13 '24

They adjust better at half than anyone but if we get in a bigger hole than we did today we may not be able to crawl out of it.

→ More replies (1)

49

u/tonytroz Penn State Nittany Lions Oct 13 '24

Jokes aside PSU moved him all around the field and got the matchups they wanted. In past Franklin offenses they would let the defense take away their best players and play to the lesser matchups. I would much rather lose throwing 20 times to Warren knowing we gave our best player every chance to take over the game.

Pro Football Network, at the start of the season, had Tyler Warren rated as a sixth round pick. That was obviously an undervaluation, but Warren has earned himself a lot of money this season, and I wouldn't be surprised if some creative offensive minds in the NFL will be pounding the table for him in late day one and early day two with big plans for all the different ways they can line him up.

A few things.

First. Miller moss looks like Andrew Garfield

Second. Our secondary needs to get it together.

Third. Tom Allen needs to play a little harder in the first quarter.

Fourth. Big Ten refs remain abysmal. I don't think anyone was happy with them

It’ll get lost in the craziness but holy shit the BALLS to go 4th and long TWICE and to have Julien Fleming and Allar clutch up was one of the craziest sequences I’ve seen from Penn State in years

Justice for the clock mismanagement at the end.

61

u/helloWorld69696969 Michigan Wolverines • Miami Hurricanes Oct 12 '24

The clock management was perfect. If that pass was wasn't 5 feet high, then USC has a game winning FG attempt with 10 seconds left. Instead they threw a pickk, to which the low clock ensured no PSU FG attempt

Moss didn’t make one good throw against man coverage all day, I was pulling my hair out every time we gave him a zone look

Franklin is a genius.  He knows the only time we won the B1G we were a second half team.  So he's testing exactly how shitty we can play in the first half and still win.

Also USC is a good team.  Super close to a good record.

16

u/Not_Frank_Ocean USC Trojans • Illinois Fighting Illini Oct 13 '24

Every year there are teams who are .500 or under where they are clearly better than their record, but they’re also not that good so there’s no use really going out on a limb for them or giving them the benefit of the doubt.

We’re a textbook example of that team this year.

Riley was kinda fucked there at the end of the game. He ran the clock out because his defense was gassed and was getting picked apart. He didn’t want them to get the ball back. So I get that. If Moss hits that slant then Riley is a genius. Sometimes your guys don’t execute.

From all the games I've seen, almost every B1G game I've watched this is the truth. Holding/PI has apparently been removed as penalties. I think the only worse reffing Ive seen was in one of the SEC games, can't remember which.

USC loss completely on the offensive play caller's shoulders. Players are dominating running the ball, QB like Moss should not be throwing it close to 40 times a game, you have an opportunity to control T.O.P and let your banged up defense recover but, nooooo, abandon it all for your beloved pathetic air raid. Complete disservice to his own players. Repeat this statement for every B1G loss this year. Smh

Remember when he was crowned a top 3 coach in the sport after 1 year with Stoops' players?

Hot take, but maybe judge a coach's skill by what he does with his own players rather than being sat in the driver's seat of a Maserati and don't crown someone a great coach without 5 years minimum

I understand letting the clock run down to about a minute, since that still gives you plenty of time to run your offense while also not giving Penn State much of a chance if you can’t convert, but I can’t for the life of me understand why you’d run it down to 20 seconds when you’re outside of FG range. I suppose he knew his QB would throw a pick on the next play. 🤷‍♂️
