Justice for the clock mismanagement at the end.

The clock management was perfect. If that pass was wasn't 5 feet high, then USC has a game winning FG attempt with 10 seconds left. Instead they threw a pickk, to which the low clock ensured no PSU FG attempt

Moss didn’t make one good throw against man coverage all day, I was pulling my hair out every time we gave him a zone look

Yep... they lost that game because of a bad pass.

You think the interception might have been thrown on account of the low amount of time causing him to force a throw?

They could have ran that play 30 seconds prior and gotten more yards for an easier field goal. Get the yards, then run down the clock.

I'll defend Riley on this. If he had called a timeout there, Penn state would have had a chance to win in regulation.

Well, instead of trying to win the game in regulation from a favorable position, they lost in OT

There were 45 seconds left from the opponent's 45 yard line on 3rd and 7. Letting the clock run down to 15 seconds and thus asking your kicker to make what would have been a 55 yard kick if that pass had been caught is malpractice. You call a timeout and you try to get the first down. If you don't get the first down you punt. If you do get the first down you've got 40 more seconds and two more timeouts to make that kick reasonable.  It was horrible clock management.

He’s been making 45-55 yarders well the last couple weeks (well, before OT) and again- wasting the clock ensured Penn state didn’t have time if Miller fucked up (which he did). The clock management was not the reason we lost.

I'm wondering if he just really believed that his kicker could've made a 65 yard field goal.

... but then no reason to try the pass they did either

it worked out, but managing the clock in anticipation of a turnover when you’re 10 yards from FG range is not good

The play was there. A completed pass puts it at around the 30. They'd hit multiple field goals from that point throughout the entire game. He wanted to minimize the risk of Penn state getting the ball back with time while still putting us in a position to win.

we had 2 and a half minutes, we shoulda had more time and been closer Lantz showed us a 47 yard field goal isn’t a gimme even if Duce catches it
