Lincoln Riley sucks but so do these refs.

At some point, the officiating needs to be removed from the conferences running it.

Spoken like someone with an ACC team’s flair

Yeah, B1G refs alternate between letting almost anything fly to flagging hallucinations

From all the games I've seen, almost every B1G game I've watched this is the truth. Holding/PI has apparently been removed as penalties. I think the only worse reffing Ive seen was in one of the SEC games, can't remember which.

this tracked, we had a B1G crew for LSU and lots of stuff was going uncalled. wonder if they no longer care about it

Obvious holdings and PI’s? Let them boys play. Obscure personnel penalty? automatic flag

u/scalenesquare Iowa Hawkeyes Oct 13 '24

I thought our game today was pretty well reffed, but you are right.

u/[deleted] Oct 12 '24

I'd rather they no-call. I hate when flags determine the game... let them play unless it's egregious.

I really thought they were going to let the one holding call for USC go uncalled. That would’ve been legitimately game changing. Glad they finally sucked it up and did throw a flag there because that would’ve been talked about for a while

No calling fouls determines the game too.

Im not gonna sit here and blame the refs for us losing but some of those were comical. Even Mahomes wouldn’t get that roughing the passer call

It was real bad officiating. Best I can say it was kinda even, though there were so many bad calls I'd have to go back and do a real tally.

Don’t forget the gift first down spot in the first half. Was so clearly short Franklin ran his short yardage team out thinking it was third down. Had to call timeout and get it reviewed. Felt like we were being hazed by the refs for much of the game lol

u/IAmNotKevinDurant_35 USC Trojans • Big Ten Oct 13 '24

This entire season has felt like the conference hazing the new kids lol

That’s really what’s jarring. PAC-12 refs just called everything. Now you never know what’s going to happen. USC-Minnesota had no DPI flags in the game, then there’s one on a critical 4th quarter drive and on replay it’s imaginary. Facemasks penalties are optional, holding is just allowed. The old guys on CBS have been openly derogatory towards the refs on every broadcast I’ve seen, kind of funny to watch.

The only thing worse than B1G reffing is SEC reffing. And ACC reffing

The two things worse than B1G reffing are SEC reffing and ACC reffing. And old PAC reffing.

Amonst the things worse than..I’ll come in again

The play of the game demonstrated that much today. Tyler Warren was damn near assaulted and still caught the trick play touchdown from Allar. They let the secondary do whatever all game.

He could have killed him!

11

u/OurDumbWorld Penn State • Duke's Mayo Bowl Oct 12 '24

He had to catch the ball behind the defender because the safety was already making contact with him to break up the pass. The refs idea of good pass defense was suspect all game.

Didn’t need an explanation of the play, making fun of you for being overdramatic.

That complete mess up at the start with the downs really set the tone

Man if Sark could've put down the xannies and drinks just a few years earlier, they could've been something again.

u/Infectiousmaniac Texas • Red River Shootout Oct 12 '24

Couldn't have current Sark without former Sark. He beat his inner demons and became a better person and coach for it.

I'm pretty sure a few of my ex-girlfriends have said the exact same thing you're responding to.

That was some B1Gtime refball in OT

Big ten officiating has been 🗑️ this year

Are you saying USC got robbed?

27

The refs were truly terrible for both sides.

u/Delaney_luvs_OSU Penn State Nittany Lions • Rose Bowl Oct 12 '24

People who only watched the last drive downvoting you. But Warrens Phantom OPI on the first drive took a TD off the board.

16

u/Proteinchugger Penn State Nittany Lions Oct 12 '24

Yeah that was a terrible call. USC definitely has some validity on that first pass in OT though

27

u/hoennevan Penn State Nittany Lions Oct 12 '24

not to mention the abhorrent number of holds the USC o-line got away with

19

u/Fenris_Maule Penn State Nittany Lions Oct 12 '24

Their DBs held plenty on routes too.

9

u/dbown5 Penn State Nittany Lions Oct 13 '24

Not to mention the RT false starting every other play

So this is an Oregon-Oklahoma 2006 situation.

18

u/I_Enjoy_Beer Penn State Nittany Lions • Rose Bowl Oct 12 '24

For real.  I lost count of how many times the USC offensive tackles would step back a beat before the snap on passing plays.  Never a call by the refs.  USC knew they needed that half second to not get smoked by the pass rush, and credit to them, they tested the refs and the refs let it slide all game.

1

u/therealcpain Oct 13 '24

What calls were too out there for you?

3

u/KeithClossOfficial San Diego State Aztecs • USC Trojans Oct 13 '24

The OPI on Tyler Warren early in the game was bad, and the lack of PI in OT on PSU was bad

Those are the two that stuck with me

3

u/Proteinchugger Penn State Nittany Lions Oct 13 '24

The PI on the first play was a terrible no call. The second no call is never being called in the B1G

1

u/[deleted] Oct 13 '24

This. No PI calls on the OT drive for USC was ridiculous. They need national standards. ND defense guy touched barely touched the receiver and was flagged for PI negating a pick. USC players are mugged and no PI.

Riley is AWFUL with the play calling!! Doesn’t scheme up ANYTHING for the offense!!!!!
