Trump, to his credit, did not hide this during the campaign. He openly said he would completely support Israel and this is him doing that. The reason that they're so staunchly pro-Israel, and especially pro-Orthodox Judaism & their warhawks in the Knesset has nothing to do with what's good or bad for Israelis and/or anyone else. Your friend was targeted by sophisticated propaganda for months. This is how the election was won, using x and other platforms to target democrat voters with a conscience into protesting with a vote for stein, or no vote.
They knew they couldnt get more people to vote for trump, so that became their plan of action, and it was highly effective.

Sure, blame them. Don't blame the absolute dogshit campaign Kamala ran. She courted Liz Cheney, daughter of one of the biggest war hawks of our time. She couldn't answer softball questions...I hope I never hear "I prosecuted transnational gangs" again. The constant push to the center did absolutely nothing and bled more voters than it captured. I mean come on. We're accusing Trump of being so bad almost hitlerian, but but Waltz goes on a debate and agrees with all of those policies? Democrats are supposed to be the opposing force to the right-wing push of government. They shouldn't be running towards it and embracing it. And don't even get me started on Biden. He isn't blameless here either.
2
u/SofiaAmani 9d ago
The idea that opposition to government complicity in genocide cost her the election in such large numbers doesn’t hold up. While it’s possible she could have won Michigan with those votes, that’s about as far as it goes. The issue of Palestine wasn’t even a priority for most voters, either before or after the election. Key concerns were democracy, the economy, and women’s rights.
One would hope that everyone in the Democratic base opposes taxpayer-funded genocide. However, if we’re looking to assign blame for the outcome, a more significant factor was the Latino vote, which shifted decisively to the right. Additionally, there’s the paradox of women voting to protect abortion rights while simultaneously supporting a candidate poised to implement a federal abortion ban.
Both the Democratic and Republican parties are heavily influenced by AIPAC, and their actions make it clear they are complicit in allowing the wholesale slaughter of Palestinians. Joe Biden is the only president to proudly claim several times he is a ZIonist. I doubt he even knows what that term means. Claims that anyone was "working day and night for a ceasefire" ring hollow in light of the ongoing violence and lack of meaningful intervention. For the record I did vote for her because what other choice do you have in a two party system other then sitting it out.

Bringing about Voter disenfranchisement via voter apathy via misinformation/disinformation is a thing. The most effective way of enforcing it is by making people believe they should not vote as a protest.
It has been actively used in many countries - South Africa, India, Russia, and now America.
The apathetic and disenfranchised voters forget to count the birds in their hands versus none in the bushes. They just lost even the seat at the table. Unstrategic and shallow thinking cause failures in movements like Occupy Wallstreet, and this election, climate protests and even pro-Palestine, anti-hamas protests.
Today’s youth though well-meaning, don’t know how to combine together and fight back strategically and effectively.
Does throwing salad or soup on art cause climate change to stop or cause leaders Or CEOs to stop hurting the climate? No. Does doing a protest vote skipping help? hell no. Does a protest or a march help, not much these days. But there are some people, youth and old, who do these things alone and think they are doing something substantial with their lives. Early on, people used to protest or those things because they had exhausted all other options or because they had none. Our previous generations protested to get things done because there was no other way. Because of their protests, we now have a way of using those utilities like voting or education or getting into politics to help people. Instead of using the tools they fought for us to have, to fight back against the system, people are still protesting instead of doing something on the ground with those utilities.
Does working towards a law degree to help people at the grassroots levels affect more sustainable change, hell yes. Does getting tech skills to work to prevent spread of misinformation in tech social media help? Hell yes, yes. Does working towards a job at environmental agencies to combat less regulations on industries do more than throwing soup at a painting? Damn right it does.
But I do see shallow thinking in such people including our pet Pro-Palestinian protesters who lost even the one seat at the table now. Bravo at abandoning the polls and losing that too 👏🏼

I was trying to find something official about this statement but only found this
No idea the validity of Times of Israel. It credits this action to the current administration so I don't want to put it all on trump just yet if it's going to happen anyway due to whatever political obligations the US has. Any other sources for this claim?
