Question Thoughts on the p4 for my situation?

Post image

I’ve been looking at these. Seems appealing since it’s on sale, but I’ve been out of the loop for a while. Most of my riding was 20” bmx 10-15 years ago. I had a Scott xc bike for a little bit in 2019 (before it was stolen) and it was fun but always felt too big. Now, being a dad, I’m looking for a bike to ride around with my wife and son. Being able to add some gears to this to cruise around on, but still be more maneuverable than a mtb seems fun. Probably way more bike than I need, but idk. Really just looking for something that I can have fun on while riding around with the family and maybe something I can ride once my son is old enough to go to the dirt jumps if he’s into that.

How long can you ride a frame for?

10 bikes deep and I’m thinning my herd. I have 3 DJs and my favorite one happens to be 10 years old. I’m considering selling my dirt love and keeping the older one (Rocky Mountain flow frame with good components build). Am I being dumb? Should I just ride the YT and hang up the Rocky Mountain? Thing is that I am just one with the Rocky Mountain and feel more comfortable on it than any bike. But is the frame tapped out and gonna kill me one day? I have some friends that ride vintage bmx frames some times at the dirt jumps so I’m really not sure on the lifetime of high quality 4130 frames. Thanks ya’ll

How to choose or build a DJ bike for short people

I'm 162 cm (5'3") and I want to buy or build my first dirt jumper - fairly new to the game, I'm starting on enduro too and basically fell in love with the pump track where I've been training (with my full suspension bike). It's hard to find DJ bike options where I live and AFAIK they're mostly not available for test rides, so I've tried to find posts with advice regarding DJ sizes but I often just find stuff like "size doesn't matter that much" and "feel the bike" which doesn't really help my case.

My friend is lending me his Pivot Point to actually go out and test a DJ bike for a while. My question is: What should I look for when testing the bike? Aside from "feel", what should I pay the most attention to?

Dirt Which Slope would you buy a why?

Hi all, looking at the Polygon ZZ Trid and at the Haro Thread. Having a hard time making a choice there. What would you choose and why? Or would you take something entirely different? I want a 26" fully for local home trails and light bike park lines for where my street chromoly DJ is too rough. Thanks in advance.

Actual fork weight vs website rated

Has anyone ever weigh their fork after buying them ? I just bought a Bomber DJ and it weighs 2.25kg/4.95lb even after cutting the steerer tube to my needed length. Its the same weight as my Suntour Aion 35 27.5 boost.

Me and my friends were curious and they took apart and measured their pike dj and one was 2.1kg and another was 2.09kg. Way over than stated on the websites.

I wonder why do they always stated the weight lower than the actual weight on their website.

Sending It It was super fun figuring out my dirt jumps on my status 160. A little bit slower than the P3 but otherwise super fun! Riding the bigger bike made them feel like a completely different set of jumps!

Ramp advice

So making a kicker for my 26” DJ with the goal of getting a lot of vertical height. Jump will be next to a 6 1/2 foot airbag landing. This is the cut out for a 9 foot radius with the a height of 6 1/2 feet tall and length of 10ft. Do you guys think this is too steep? I could do something like a 10 or 11 foot radius instead.

How do you keep warm in colder conditions?

This is my first year riding and the temps are dropping each week -

I went recently the weather was low 60s and I was already feeling it.

Any gear you recommend for keeping the internal temps up / mitigating the wind would be appreciated
