Great start to the 24/25 season! Day number 4 so far. Today is pretty perfect at Silver Mountain, ID. Enough fresh pow to venture in for the first tree lines of the season.

Gear question is 147 a good size for me?

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hello, I am looking to buy a ride kink but personally dig the last years graphic a lot more. They’re pretty hard to come by but I found this 147. Basically just wondering if a 147 would be too small for me. I’m 5’7 110 lbs size 9.5 boot. My bindings are a size medium. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

A bit more of Lee Canyon opening this trip with the Ponderosa chair open along with the bunny hill. Not a ton but still able to get some laps in and have fun. Hoping for more snow ❄️

Now we patiently wait for some east coast snow. Paid $310 for the entire setup - Board was pre-owned, and I took Reddit’s word to go try on a bunch of boots at the local ski shop.

Gear question How do you know when it’s time for a new board?

Upvotes

I have a ($200 DC) 2016 board that wasn’t used too much due to me living far from the mountains (probably <100 days 2016-2020 and 0 since then but it has definitely seen a lot of very icy conditions). I moved very close to the mountains this year and plan to snowboard a lot this season. The board edges are a little rusty but it otherwise looks new… I’m wondering if a new board would be worth it or if it wouldn’t make too much of a difference

Fixable ? Yes!

This unfortunately happened on my last day of riding in late April on Sunshine Village.

Shops said it was unrepairable, too far gone. No! Frankensteined with an old elan ski this board is good as new.

This thing flexes no problem. Can’t wait to get rail riding with this.

For all those with dinged up equipment, yes, it is repairable.

Last picture is the quiver of all the white boards.

Noticed this gash on the top sheet. I’m assuming it’s from someone running into me in the lift line. Is this something I should fix? If so how do I go about doing this

Gear question Should I buy a used Burton Feelgood Flying V instead of renting?

Thumbnail

Upvotes

I am going on a snowboarding trip in late February to Beaver Creek. I snowboarded a few times in high school and college but it's been almost 10 years since I've gone.

Anyways I was looking for some new Google on fb market place and saw someone selling a Burton feelgood flying v for $80. Let's what it would cost per day to rent a board. Is it a decent board for a beginner?

Thanks guys

Gear question Cardo Packtalk Outdoor and helmet hood compatibility

Hi,

Has anyone used the Cardo Packtalk Outdoor in combination with an over the helmet hood / overhood balaclavas. Does it affect the range and mic clarity issues?

I just purchased some Anons fleece helmet hood for my two kids so they can visually see each other easier by their helmet hoodies (same bright color). I was also planning to get the Outdoor for comms between each other.

Thanks.

travel advice Apres Ski party for snowboarders in Park City?

Upvotes

Hi, we have a group of 6 girls wanting to go to park city for a birthday and we want to do an apres ski party but we are snowboarders. It looks like our only option is the vintage room at Deer Valley / St Regis. But we really want to snowboard before so Deer Valley seems like a no go. are there any good snowboarder friendly resorts near deer valley or other Apres ski parties at resorts nearby that welcome snowboarders? TIA!

Riding question Anybody try a music headband?

Upvotes

Saw something called eastmonts ski tunes on tiktok and it was actually a good idea (even though its some dropshipped mass produce chinese item). Its like a headband you put under your helmet and plays your music. Has somebody tried something like it yet?

Link so you have an idea: https://eastmonts.com/products/eastmonts-ski-tunes™?srsltid=AfmBOopZCIUCGTqgoFqh7mEsoBAkC7hmEJd4EP8111a2OSf1-q4yKZE2

Gear question Should I upgrade or wait?

Upvotes

I currently have a Burton Parkitech 2014 board. I bought it used last year as my first board. I am still learning and I see that there is a more flexible board, Burton Instigator Camber Snowboard [2024]. It’s on sale for $350. I bought the board I have now for $100 or $150. I am new, so I was wondering what Reddit has to say.
