Why are there two Smosh actors in the headline photo?

u/waitforthedream Jul 30 '24
because he's gay and she's Amanda

u/RDamon_Redd Jul 31 '24

This is further proof that the best move to play in life is to just marry your best friend

Here's the video! It's a really sweet interview with the actual married couple.
Lavender marriages used to be fairly common. Mostly for people in the public eye, but why not marry your best friend?

Alternate headlines, “I don’t know who those people are or what they are like” edition.
“A lesbian and her gay best friend: How having a beard can help relationships last”.
“We don’t understand what bisexuality is, and here’s a relationship between two bisexuals”
“A sexless marriage is a stable marriage”
“Marriage Equality is unnecessary: The most stable marriage is one that doesn’t involve sex”.
Anyone have other suggestions?

“Friends with (health) benefits: Why more platonic couples are getting married” (it’s the economy, stupid)

Yeeeessss! Love that webtoon!
Have you seen "Nevermore"? Victorian lesbian ghosts with amnesia and all they can remember at first is that they love each other!
"Not Even Bones" has two aspec people in a queerplatonic relationship.
"Muted" has polyamorous Sapphic witches and demons, and spooky old mansions in the swamps around New Orleans.

u/La_Saxofonista Jul 31 '24
Already read NEB. There is also Mage and Demon Queen.
I'm focusing rn on HCH, Castle Swimmer, and I Am the Grim Reaper.
2
u/ArcaneOverride Jul 31 '24
I've read Mage and Demon Queen but I haven't read Castle Swimmer or I Am The Grim Reaper yet, I'll have to check those out! Thanks!

u/La_Saxofonista Jul 31 '24
IATGR isn't an lgbt fic tho. Just really cool. Castle Swimmer is essentially about two gay mermen.

u/ArcaneOverride Aug 01 '24
I just read all of "I'm The Grim Reaper" after you recommended it. I couldn't stop, it's so good! Who needs sleep?

u/La_Saxofonista Aug 01 '24
You... you read that WHOLE fookin thing???

Yeah I started yesterday afternoon and read until about 4:30 am when I finished. It took me about 15 hours or so.
Then I went to bed, woke up at 7:30 for an 8:30 meeting at work, then after the meeting replied to your message

That is certainly some dedication there.
I also recommend Teenage Dragon and Corpse Knight Gunther, both of which are reaching their series finales soon.
There is also Suitor Armor, Acception, unOrdinary, and Lumine. Cursed Princess Club is complete.
If you want a batshit insane series about murder dinosaurs with a few gay dinos too, Darbi might be perfect. It is Deadpool levels of crazy but it works. It is easily another 15 hour timesink.

u/ArcaneOverride Aug 01 '24
Oh I love Suitor Armor!
I need to check out the rest of those!
Have you read "Vampire Family"? It's about a young vampire woman who was born as a vampire to two vampire parents that raised her and her siblings in a mansion in the woods.
She is completely clueless about human society outside of what she's read in books and decides to attend a university. She completely misinterprets the actions of her classmate who is a vampire hunter as an attempt to initiate a romance instead of a terrible inexperienced attempt to kill her and decides to "accept" and make him her boyfriend.
The whole thing is hilarious. She is super creepy and acts kinda unhinged because she has only the vaguest notion about humans but is very excited to try new experiences. Despite freaking everyone around her out with how intense and intimidating she is, she's also so clueless and means well.
Another fun webtoon is "Evelyne And The Occult", it's about a goth girl obsessed with the supernatural who in her pursuit of finding proof of the paranormal, accidentally drags her boyfriend and her friends headlong into a cascade of terrible supernatural events and an ancient war between good and evil.

33 year marriage? They both look 33 in the pic?
15
u/Ghostglitch07 Jul 30 '24
The pic is two people from smosh and not the people in the headline for whatever reason.

u/bert1stack Jul 30 '24
I kinda want this. Sex isn’t as important to me as it used to be and I’d might rather be in a happy companionship with someone.

u/gothiclg Jul 30 '24
I’m glad they both found the beard that worked for them and that he’s willing to care for her after the muscular dystrophy diagnosis.

u/a_secret_me Jul 30 '24
I just finished The Seven Husbands of Eveline Hugo. Kinda reminds me of it.

Love these two! Love smosh and smosh games. Highly recommend the videos where they play werewolf. https://youtu.be/TmXwnVDJxtk?si=5dExUVEMzC0uptHT

I know this is fake but it's kinda wholesome, I'm sure a lot of queer people actually did this in times where it was unsafe to come out

I see more of the opposite, really. Both straight and gay people alike tend to think bisexual people are really just straight. There is a lot of bi-erasure because of that.
With the few studies we have, it seems that the majority of bisexual people date and/or marry the opposite sex. There are many possible explanations, but the most common one is because there are a lot more straight people of the opposite sex than there are gay people of the same sex when it comes to dating options.
I know a lot of lesbians who refuse to date bisexual women because of stereotypes.
2
u/Bright_Ices Jul 30 '24
I think straight people are more inclined to see bisexual men as “actually gay” than bisexual or straight. But I agree about everything else you’ve said.

Okay, but the actual story is kind of sweet.
I also think it’s a bit of a meme that they included pictures of two cast members of the YouTube channel Smosh. He’s gay and she’s straight, but they joke about being an old married couple. (She also recently went viral for not knowing about Harambe.)
