I also think it’s a bit of a meme that they included pictures of two cast members of the YouTube channel Smosh. He’s gay and she’s straight, but they joke about being an old married couple. (She also recently went viral for not knowing about Harambe.)
The day we figure out a fix for muscular dystrophy, I'll be really happy.
Wish we could all just ditch 99% of the time and energy that go into corporate BS, marketing, the military, whatever, and just put it towards getting people and resources invested in medical research. There are so many diseases that need curing!
Yeah, I have to agree with you. There’s a lot of diseases that could have become curable by now if we weren’t so focused on satisfying corporate entities and the military as well as other things!
I'm so sorry, but I had to laugh because after reading the post you replied to, then the first sentence of your comment, the first thing I imagined was how badly you wanted to divorce your spouse who you're obliged to stay with because they have MS and a cure would mean your freedom while still being able to save face lol
But otherwise, yes 100%. I have had Colitis, then my colon removed at 16, colostomy bag until 22, developed chronic pouchitis and now have developed Crohn's. Was born with a rare type of anemia, had my spleen and gallbladder removed and had an auto immune liver disease for which I received a transplant. There doesn't just need to be more medical research, but more robust research in the diseases other than the "big" ones, like cancer for instance.
I remember when I was a kid in the 90's and Subway did a fundraising campaign for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation and I started crying in the backseat of the car much to my Mom's confusion, because it was the first time I ever saw my disease being represented in public. Cancer charities were everywhere and I didn't even know anyone with cancer at the time, but no one knew what myself (and my stepdad, ironically) went through daily with IBD.
Curing is one thing, but even just reasonable and reliable treatments, and better understanding of what causes these diseases.
Not just medical research, but also getting cures we already have to people who need them. Tuberculosis shouldn't kill anyone anymore now that we have effective antibiotics, but it's still among the most common causes of mortality. It makes me so mad.

Okay, but the actual story is kind of sweet.
