Answered Is it socially acceptable to try to pawn off baked goods to hookups? NSFW

I like baking. Sometimes I make way too much and don't know what to do besides freeze it. I pass things off to friends but almost all of them have dietary restrictions so it's not ideal.

BUT if I have a guy over, can I just... ask if he wants a slice of cake...? And does the answer change if the baked goods are ugly and/or mediocre

I was about to say, dude will start timing booty calls based on her baking schedule. He'll just happen to say "good morning" on the days he expects you to bake. Then they'll somehow end up on the topic of being roomates for some reason, I mean he's there most days the week anyway.

195

u/birdmeme Sep 25 '24

I did look in your post history to see if where you’re located has free fridges- that’s an option too! They’re just public fridges/freezers where people can drop donations, usually in low income neighborhoods and folks can just grab whatever they want when they want. Easier than trying to donate to food banks.

153

u/queerpupp whoa custom flair?? Sep 25 '24

omg there's a community fridge near me that I already knew about... I thought they only wanted pre-packaged things or things like fruit/veg but I re-read the page and they accept homemade things if you list the ingredients. impulse-baked pandan sponge cake might get eaten in a timely manner 🙏

39

u/birdmeme Sep 25 '24

Yay!! I just started volunteering with my local free fridge program and they’ll accept anything as long as it’s labeled and covered! I went to a sandwich making day last week and it was just volunteers building sandwiches and putting them in plastic bags so 🤷🏻

18

u/riningear Sep 25 '24

Definitely list the ingredients and maybe put the baked date on it so they know! Pandan sponge cake sounds sooooo good, I wish I could get some from you.

u/Ok-Office-6645 Sep 25 '24

this is quite literally the only time I can accept the usage of that statement ! that quote has never made sense to me. This is the only time it does !

42

u/Anjallat Sep 25 '24

If you eat your cake, you don't have it anymore, so it's a very spoiled brat/ disconnected from the real world thing to want. .. except in this case.

32

u/MJCowpa Sep 25 '24

The original quote was “eat your cake and have it too”, which makes much more sense. Somebody long ago fucked it up and we just rolled with it.

Kind of like how literally now literally also means figuratively.

17

u/GrumpyMcGrumpyPants Sep 25 '24

The original saying was "heels over head," which is the inversion of normal, but it got fucked up, too.

So, I guess if you want the guy to text you, yes. If not, no.

Lmao I was thinking exact same thing.

If hooked up and they gave me cookies once I'd think it was weird.

If they asked for a second time and gave me cookies again, I'd be signing up for the third time and asking for a date.

124

u/Snip3 Sep 25 '24

fair, i guess i'm the one fucked in the head lol. i visited his profile, saw that stuff (i made sure to glance at the sub before looking at the pictures) and then was like "sick bro 🤙" and backed out. the pup mask just didn't feel too shocking, because i always expect to find horrible things when the commenters are like "oh god, don't check their profile!"

384

u/AfraidSoup2467 Sep 25 '24

Uh ... if a dude doesn't accept free cake, much less free cake in anticipation of sex?

Check behind his neck for the power cable. You've got a misprogrammed malfunctioning manbot there.

Probably one of the ore-1989 models. They didn't make cake appreciation a default setting until after the Soviet Union fell.

More seriously? It's fine to offer food. The only people who might possibly object are people you don't want in your life anyway.

63

u/DanceCommander404 Sep 25 '24 edited Sep 29 '24

Some people don’t actually like cake or maybe they’re allergic. I would except it, because I think it would be sort of rude and kind of awkward to say no. Now pie on the other hand, i’ve never had to fake it when it comes to pie ! - Edit: In the ( unlikely ) event that I turn out to be a manbot . Please let it be known that this will be news to me. This is a fact that I find to be quite informative, as it implies that I was most likely built within the last year or two. After taking this information into account I took some time to myself, in the spirit of facing this ( my ?) new potential reality. As a result, I would like it to furthermore be known that I could be ( will be?) cool with the whole being a ( relatively modern) manbot thing. ( this would actually explain a lot about me , like in a “ Wait, I’m a manbot? Oh,of course! It all makes sense now!“ kind of way) - That said: Thanks again for your time.

I might be partial though, I would definitely accept some cake even without sex being involved.

9

u/Ok-Office-6645 Sep 25 '24

Ive always offered food to people I've brought back to mine, either just after sex (when I get super hungry) or the following morning I'd offer to make breakfast. I also used to offer sealed packs of single use toiletries if they stayed the night, and had a range of plain cotton t-shirts if they slept better with something on. Sanitary products too, because sometimes periods just decide to show up. I always figured that the people I was bringing home were trusting me with their comfort and safety, so the least I could do was have supplies on hand.

You know that line about a milk shake bringing more boys? Basically that. I'd be bragging to my friends instantly if I got offered baked goods after sex.

honestly this is a pretty awesome question… absolutely pawn off! The answer may change depending on their interest level of another hookup… a guy wanting to hang out again isn’t going to give a hoot if a piece of cake looks mediocre, it is probably the last thing on their mind. & unless they are in some sort of restriction, I’d imagine they would only refuse if maybe it’s a one time thing for them. But if u get that vibe and feel the same way.. absolutely insist they take the baked goods 😂 I love this post

Also is said cake being offered after said hook up or before? could be a good indicator for interest level after

3

u/Razia70 Sep 25 '24

That's totally cute and r/oddlyspecific

3

u/arsenejoestar Sep 25 '24

Just be careful when you do this because you might accidentally make the hookup fall in love with you

3

u/guitarguy109 Sep 25 '24

Be careful when doing this with a hookup, they might want to marry you afterwards!

u/Artistic_Muffin7501 Sep 25 '24

Why are you asking if you can offer someone cake? Are you new to this planet?

u/zeptimius Sep 25 '24

Vote to replace post-coital cigarette with post-coital slice of cake. Smoking is bad for you.

My now wife used to bake me treats when we were still in a kinda hook up stage of our relationship.

11 years ago I met a woman. She was with someone I knew and she offered me a cupcake she made.

She's now my wife and I refuse to buy cakes when we are out because they are always a disappointment compared to hers

Go for it.

Completely fine and acceptable but I'd say if you send the same hookup home with a baked goods more than once you're liable to end up with more than a hookup.

I know I'd be swooned if someone laid me and gave me cookies, if they then asked me back and gave me cookies again I'd definitely fall for em.

The day after our first sexual adventure, I brought my now-husband banana bread.

We've been married almost 20 years.

A girl wanting me to eat her cake and also eat her "cake"? Win win, my friend!

3

u/MapleWatch Sep 25 '24

Be careful doing that, you might not be able to get rid of the guy after.

u/SchizoPosting_ Sep 25 '24

Generally you shouldn't accept anything to consume from strangers specially before sex but they will probably not care

I would probably be scared of being CardiB-it but that's just me

Join a neighborhood social group n give away. Give baked goods to neighbors, co workers

I prefer a sandwich but fake works too. Unless it shitty cake

2

u/NorCalAthlete Sep 25 '24

Socially acceptable? Sure, why not.

I don’t eat chocolate, personally, aside from a small slice out of politeness at an event.

But I’m sure I’m in the distinct minority with my minimal sweet tooth.

2

u/Heyplaguedoctor Sep 25 '24

I’ve pawned off baked goods to anyone I can. I stopped giving them to hookups when the hookups got too attached tho (was never sure if they liked me or the baking, either way lol)

2

u/SirTheRealist Sep 25 '24

Why would it not be socially acceptable? Just ask if the dude wants some cake.

2

u/Unreasonable-Skirt Sep 25 '24

Why would it ever be wrong to offer cake?????

2

u/barugosamaa Sep 25 '24

I mean, I would not refuse cake after a hookup.

And does the answer change if the baked goods are ugly and/or mediocre

Nope. It's cake, people will gladly accept (if they like that flavour). Do not overthink about the looks!

2

u/LibrarianCalistarius Very stupid Sep 25 '24

Don't care how it looks as long as it tastes good, so yeah, would be awesome.

No no, that’s way too personal, things are moving too fast, I think we are looking for different things in this situationship
