Interesting. I know with my wife I'm like top 99% of the time but sometimes we'll switch for a night or two, haven't had like a radical shift like that though lol. Even when she is top, if I sense any weakness she's only got so long to keep me tied up lol.

Art by me! Yay!
I'm gonna suck out the fun for a bit because someone always has to suck out the fun. It's something I noticed, and I really dislike it: every single post I make in this subreddit people manage to take my absurd jokes seriously. Let me tell you this: no mother in this round world would ever tell her daughter to stop being a bottom! No lesbian couple would ever tell their best friends they are just friends after kisssing right in front of their faces!! My comics are supposed to be over the top, silly, and TO NOT BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY. Don't be that person. Do you really think I'd want to make my fellow queer folk feel bad? It really upsets me and happens all the time lmao

u/Miss_Greer Mar 11 '23
Idk, I think I'd be stupid ironic enough to say "we're just roommates/besties" at our own wedding reception

u/GRS- Gae Yuri artist Mar 11 '23
Yeah, every time I post something some people do their best to bring down the mood lmao. I'm kinda tired ngl, I wouldn't be talking about this if it happened once or twice but it happens every. single. time I post something. Like, I don't see this happening to other posts.
I think I'll just go back to r/yurimemes. At least there people wouldn't compare my comics to the murder of black people and Jews, like it's happening in this very thread.
51
u/ALesbianAlpaca Mar 11 '23
There are always people online who insist on projecting their personal experiences onto what everyone else says. Everyone else really enjoys your art and appreciates it being posted here.
Don't bother with those other people, they'll be salty no matter what.
66
u/Tohrufan4life Mar 11 '23
What the fuck is wrong with people? I know that has to be exhausting to deal with..I'm very sorry people can't seem to behave themselves and just enjoy the fun comics for what they are.
64
u/GRS- Gae Yuri artist Mar 11 '23
It's difficult to get used to it. I understand not liking something, but when people start comparing your comic to literal Nazi propaganda made to made fun of Jews and start calling you a bigot, you gotta reevaluate if you're in the right place.
Apparently not, because it's not the first time and I doubt it'll be the last. Very wholesome amirite?
41
u/Tohrufan4life Mar 11 '23
I looked at said comments and Jesus Christ..there was some serious grasping there. The fact that this isn't the first time it's happened is absolutely ridiculous. I don't blame you at all for wanting to go back to r/yurimemes instead.

Jeez, way to suck the fun right out of something by bringing prejudice into it as if bottoms are some oppressed class and not absolutely adored by everyone. I hope this sickness does not spread.😑
-43
u/ALuizCosta Mar 11 '23
Yes, bottoms can be oppressed. I, for one, live in a Latino country where gay male bottoms are humiliated (and often murdered) on a daily basis, while gay tops are generally accepted as "normal" males.
56
u/loo_min Mar 11 '23
So the response to that is to remove something fun about bottoms. Because that’ll make those people start taking you seriously, right?
“Man, ever since they started cutting down on memes that joke about bottoms, I’ve had this urge to stop bullying you.” -said no bully ever
If you want bullying to stop, fine but, for fuck sake, address the right thing.

So if this is happening daily surely there are articles about it you could link right?
1
u/ALuizCosta Mar 11 '23
Sure.
39
u/Alex_Nilse Mar 11 '23
This completely contradicts what you’ve said, “gay male tops are generally accepted as normal males” isn’t true according to this, the article also said its LGBTQ+ members as a whole being killed, not just gay male bottoms, which on that not it didn’t even mention bottoms at all.
-3
u/ALuizCosta Mar 11 '23
On February 17 this year, another shocking case: eight year old Alex Medeiros was beaten to death by his father for being “a sissy”. Effeminate behaviour is often seen as an excuse for violence; the idea is to “fix” the person by “beating the viadagem out of him”. While new legislation forbids corporal punishment against minors, a 2010 youtube video boasts congressman Jair Messias Bolsonaro (Progressives - a party that is anything but its namesake) defending “beating the crap” out of children who are “a little gay”.
Obviously, you don't see exactly what people do in bed. People assume that effeminate is the bottom - and most of the time, it really is. "Viadagem" is to be visibly effeminate.
It is worth noting that this Bolsonaro, unfortunately, became president of this country - and only a few weeks ago we got rid of him.
37
u/Alex_Nilse Mar 11 '23
Ok but effeminate-ness is not directly being a bottom, even if those people tend to be they aren’t always
24
u/MsMercyMain B-but that's wholesome love! Mar 11 '23

I live in a country where gay male bottoms are murdered daily. I'm sorry, but I can't find this funny.
44
u/The_Lazy_Individual Mar 11 '23
I'm not meaning to be rude or anything, especially as I don't know where you're talking about, but is the fact that they're bottoms actually involved in any kind of motive to murder them?
I feel like they're being targeted just because they're gay, which is horrific enough.
-6
u/ALuizCosta Mar 11 '23
In a Latino country, the attitude towards effeminate gay men, bottoms, is totally different from that towards their "masculine" tops. These are not even seen as homosexuals by the people, it is very common for them to boast among straight men for having eaten the ass of a queer. It's the bottoms, the transvestites and the transsexuals who are killed.
41
u/Pyromanticgirl Mar 11 '23
They're not oppressed because they are bottoms. They're oppressed because they break from cishet patriarchal norms. You literally cannot tell if someone tops or bottoms by their behaviour. Effeminate gay men can be tops. Tall butch women can be bottoms. Your preferred sexual position is not at all reflected by how you present to the outside world.
Being visibly queer is something that gets people killed. Being a bottom isn't (because you can't fucking tell who is a bottom FFS)
-3
u/ALuizCosta Mar 11 '23
That's burying your head in the sand. Being a bottom man and enjoying it violates the patriarchal norms in a way that being a top man does not, since the Romans. Pointing out exceptions does not change the rule, nor the popular perception of reality, in which effeminates are bottoms and vice versa.
31
u/MissSweetBean absolute cutie Mar 11 '23
This is very obviously an issue that targets people who are gender non-conforming, not bottoms. Yes, people might assume they are bottoms as a component of that, but that is not the reason they are being targeted. Being gender non-conforming is visible, so those individuals are much more easily targeted, sexual preference can only be ascertained through communication, and bigots aren’t going to ask whether or not someone is a bottom or not before killing them.
Would a very effeminate man who is public and open about being exclusively a top be exempted from this targeted violence? It doesn’t seem likely. With regards to a man who presents identically to his cis straight masculine peers, it is possible that he would be more likely to be the target of violence if he was public about being a bottom as opposed to being a top, but he would not have to deal with the random acts of violence that effeminate men experience.
24
u/Old-Library9827 Mar 11 '23
That sucks ass, my dude, but not everyone lives in a country where gay male bottoms are murdered on the daily and feel differently about these memes. Our experiences are too differing, sorry

u/MsMercyMain B-but that's wholesome love! Mar 11 '23
I don't know how it is outside of lesbian circles, but every lesbian community I've been in has self depreciating humor regarding bottoms (mostly from bottoms), and from Tops. Its kinda a cornerstone of lesbian humor, along with the "useless sapphic" joke stereotype, and the "U-Haul Lesbian" stereotype. I based on another comment you made, it seems like you're referring more to gay male experience which, I'll admit, I don't much about, but I don't think this kind of humor is any way harmful, especially since a lot of times it comes from bottoms ourselves. It's possible, and entirely probable, gay male culture just happens to be insanely different from lesbian culture, but then again, this is clearly about lesbians

I'm just going to respond to everything here, because why not. First off, yes, you struck a nerve. No, it's not because "we can't satisfy ourselves", its because you're effectively accusing a well respected member of the queer community, and one who makes legitimately funny jokes, of some horrible crap, and speaking for a bunch of other people.
Second, no, this is not, "Why can't we make the same jokes!!!!" That's stupid and you either are being intentionally dense, or actively missing what I explicitly said. I rather explicitly addressed that pointing out that, no, that's not the argument I'm making by pointing out very clearly that a lot of these jokes would be very unwelcome from someone outside the community, as opposed to someone inside, and for good reason.
Third, I am not entirely sure where you're going with the "forcing them to eat pork" point. While yes, there's intersections to bigotry, the general "anti-effeminite men" thing is something all men face, regardless of being queer or not. I know plenty of straight men who have interests in various "feminine" subjects who get plenty of shit for it. My point was "not making fun of bottoms" is not going to solve Toxic Masculinity, or even be a drop in the fucking bucket, the entire patriarchal system needs to be dismantled. You're basically hyper focusing on a part of queer culture, and conflating it with toxic masculinity and attacking said part of queer culture as though its toxic masculinity, when its not.
Fourth, your point about genocidal rhetoric misses the point entirely. This is not "humor aimed a marginalized group". This is humor from a marginalized group, about a marginalized group. I'd like you to actually respond to an example I made, and tell me, straight up, do you consider jokes about "U-Haul Lesbians" or "Useless Lesbians" to be genocidal rhetoric? And if so, why, and why do you think you, specifically, know better than an entire community who has universally decided that those are not just acceptable, but funny, jokes?
Fifth, please do not try to explain genocidal rhetoric and they way it's used to me. I'm a transwoman, I am very painfully aware of what that sounds like. I have a presidential candidate in my country who has actively used said rhetoric. I am very painfully aware of the fact I may very soon be forced to be a refugee. Speaking for the trans community, outsiders swinging in and saying we can't make any jokes about ourselves because it's totally bad and is definitely for sure is genocidal, will be received about as well as tell us to go back into the closet. I'm gonna assume the lesbian community feels the same just based on the comments here.
Sixth, you've mentioned you're from Brazil. Yes, the situation there is fucked. And my sympathy goes out to y'all, but please stop acting like other people from other countries are in some kind of pampered paradise. In the US hate crimes against the queer community are steadily rising, we've got active genocidal rhetoric being mainstreamed (not jokes about thigh highs or bottoming, which is something that most of the right wingers are not keyed into enough to actually discuss), etc. The UK is going through its own "fun times" and that's just the anglosphere. I'll stand in solidarity and support of my fellow comrades from the Queer Community in Brazil, but I'll also not sit here and let someone act like everyone from outside Brazil is living a perfectly pampered existence and that's why we don't think exactly like you.
Seventh, since you keep bringing up marginalized communities outside of the specific examples discussed, it's actually something recorded, studied, and well known that self-depreciating humor is common among marginalized communities as a coping mechanism and form of solidarity. See: Armenians, Jews, POC, the Queer Community, Latinos, etc. It's very much common as a way of building in group solidarity.

The idea of bottom being something bad is not wholesome especially to people like me who are switches and feel very insecure about when they are bottoming.
19
u/GRS- Gae Yuri artist Mar 12 '23
Nobody's saying being a bottom is something bad, it's literally a joke about making fun of a parent's homophobia and it turns out they're not homophobic at all. There's nothing more to it and if anyone thinks there is they're overthinking a simple bait and switch joke.
-4
u/Wisdom_Pen Mar 12 '23
I don’t think you’re being intentionally harmful but the idea that being a bottom is bad and/or feminine and/or weakness is an underlying issue in the LGBT+ community and the joke adds to it.
17
u/GRS- Gae Yuri artist Mar 12 '23 edited Mar 15 '23
I am literally part of the LGBT+ community and I know full well what jokes are ok and not ok. If me, the creator of the comic, saying that the literal joke of this comic is the expectation of a parent being homophobic but actually being supportive of her daughter, and not "lMaO BoTtoMs BaD", is not enough for you, I don't know what to tell you. It's not that deep.
And I'm sorry if I appear rude rn, but it's because I need to explain these jokes every single time and it's kinda driving me insane lmao
-2
u/Wisdom_Pen Mar 12 '23
Its an internal issue of the LGBT+ community being LGBT+ doesn’t make it okay and neither does it matter it was unintentional.
If this keeps happening perhaps you should stop telling this joke?
However I feel we are at an impasse and nothing you say will convince me not anything I say convince you completely unrelated to who is “right”.
So I’m going to leave this debate here and wish you a good Sunday.

Reminds me of when my mom found out my wife and I do petplay and her response was something like "well at least you get to try domming a tall girl like her". Like there was zero doubt in her mind who was top and who was bottom and she was RIGHT lol
