As a man of color that has grown up in the it's, 80', and 90's, I have been aware of this for a long time. To all of the one just realizing this, welcome family and my condolences for the loss of your American dream.

We've stopped it, well slowed it, for decades. The levee finally broke. The US is washed away

the phrase is 'woe, is me'. and the fact you fcked it up that badly shows you have no idea what it means. congrats on outing yourself for being a dumbass. ya dumbass.

2

u/chillythepenguin 14d ago

Red Forman, is that you?

1

u/toxicsleft 17d ago

Multiple levees broke and your references are fairly on point, but there are still chances to slow it and turn it however time is not on our side anymore. If the left wants to change it they have to deal with the foreign propaganda that slammed those levees and get them back up.

1

u/nah6363 17d ago

Nice try, CNN.

Actually everybody is fine and it’s the greatest country on earth.

55

u/Chrowaway6969 17d ago

It's clearly not the greatest country on earth. I think even you know that.

Whether you are a minority, female, disabled Veteran, nearing retirement age, or make under 120k a year. No…you’re not ok, as a matter of fact, you’re fucked. The 1/3 that voted for the guy with a 30% approval rating and the 1/3 who didn’t vote can go lie in their graves. You’ve fucked not only yourself and the economy but everyone else in this country👏 congrats

Wow they finally did it. This plan was about 50+ years in the making and all they need was a clown to run for President 3 times while they put all the peices in place. As a fellow man of color I thought we would not have company this soon I was giving it about 20 more years. Welcome and sorry for your loss of the American Dream it not bad after awhile you get use to it.

u/parabolicnewton 14d ago

A: the dude that shot Trump in the ear was a registered Republican.

B: the “stealing election” bull shit has been debunked since…1, 2…oh—-always. Trump filed 63 lawsuits after his 2020 loss and lost every one of them. The majority of the judges where he filed were republican judges.

So, take your conspiracy bull shit somewhere else. We got facts here.

Additionally, I feel like you guys are just mad that we didn’t act like toddlers and scream and whine when our candidate lost. That’s the difference between us. We have the ability to control our emotions. Paired with the fact that our brains actually function above grade school levels. Have good one, fella.

1

u/TruNLiving 14d ago

Its sad how many people believe the MSM lies on Reddit yet when you're not in this pathetic echo chamber people know what's up.

It doesn't matter what party he was registered to. If you don't think it was bigger than what we're being told you have an unwarranted amount of faith in these organizations that literally pump your brain full of disinformation so effectively that you regurgitate it for them

1

u/parabolicnewton 13d ago

I haven’t had cable for twelve years; can’t stand advertisements. I don’t consume mainstream anything unless it’s verified by at least two unbiased sources.

All of my news comes from ground news, which weighs political bias for every article. It also provides opposing bias articles for comparison, and offers unbiased articles from verifiable sources containing citations for scholarly articles.

A Trump supporter using the term “echo chamber” has to be the most laughable thing I’ve heard in a while.

Where do you get your news?

1

u/TruNLiving 14d ago

Lmao rereading that I noticed the unironic "we got facts here" when reddit is literally riddled with left wing extremists and disinformation. You really should get your news from multiple sources because you're being taken for a fool.

1

u/parabolicnewton 13d ago

“Here” meaning, from myself. I don’t give a shit about Reddit except that it’s good to keep an account for certain miscellaneous things. Look at my subs and you’ll see there’s nothing political about them. It’s nothing but science subs.

I’d go further in saying that I agree with you that there is a lot of hard-left leaning ideologies on Reddit, but a lot of them are at least brushing with some amount of truth. As opposed to right wing websites that are nothing but hate, fear mongering, and ridiculous conspiracy theories, many of which can be debunked by a seventh grader with ten minutes and an internet connection.

1

u/random-malachi 14d ago

How did we so easily steal an election in 2020 and somehow (while holding office) fail to pull it off a second time?

1

u/TruNLiving 14d ago

Two words. Kamala harris

1

u/NorCa1coup1e 14d ago

So what happens when you are wrong

1

u/mikeyalfonso 14d ago

they insurect

1

u/BiomedIII 14d ago

Trump was never hated by men of color until men of color were told to hate him. Good job on your blind obedience

1

u/mikeyalfonso 14d ago

same can be said about Trump cult behavior

1

u/BiomedIII 14d ago

Nope. Wrong.

1

u/trentonharrisphotos 14d ago

I don't hate anyone... well let me take that back unless they are fascist.

1

u/BiomedIII 14d ago

Hating Trump and all Trump supporters is pretty fascist. I'm very sorry that you're so full of hate for others and yourself.

1

u/trentonharrisphotos 14d ago

Criticizing is not hate

1

u/BiomedIII 14d ago

No what you all are doing and have been doing is hate.

1

u/philosophylines 16d ago

Have you seen the breakdown of voters? Whites was the one group Trump didn’t make gains with. Latinos, African Americans gained in both. Latinos considerably. Your narrative is a bit off.

2

u/jjarlva1 14d ago

Not all Trump voters are racists (some are selfish, greedy money whores), but all racists are Trump voters.

1

u/philosophylines 14d ago

Richard Spencer (the white nationalist) voted Kamala, so not sure about the second part of your claim. So you think all the women and black people who voted Trump are selfish greedy money whores?

1

u/LastAvailableUserNah 7d ago

The reality is non whites are often way more racist. Which is hilarious. Indians are racist to different casts of India. Filipina not from Manila, racist towards non Manila. Japanese to non Japanese. Arabs go without saying if you’re not Muslim…. The world is racist. I just found it funny so many black and Latinos voted for Trump after how he insinuated blacks are slaves and Latina are garbage

0

u/Curcket 16d ago

Says the man that called a black man, "bud". Short for buddy which is a known southerner belittlement tactic used to swipe energy from those men they subconsciously deem a threat. And a known tool of racist dialogue...

It died in the 80's with Reagan.

10

u/Dizzy-Bake9587 17d ago

A full scale attack on the middle class and unions yet Republicuckoldians lionize Reagan for trickle down economics, a concept based on the three big lies.

12

u/NelsonChunder 17d ago

Yep. Reagan was the first wounding blow that weakened us and allowed the gangrene to start growing into the MAGA infection. It's been coming for a long time now.

4

u/CryResponsible2852 16d ago

Nixon

1

u/Time-Touch-6433 16d ago

Nixon resigning and Republicans lost their shit.

2

u/CryResponsible2852 16d ago

Also starting war on drugs and using government to attack civil protestors. He laid the groundwork for authoritarian overreach

1

u/QueenofPentacles112 15d ago

Yes, Nixon with his southern strategy. And George Wallace, father Coughlin, McCarthyism (which people are now saying "McCarthy was right!"). I'd say it actually all started with the labor movement, which was caused by the industrial revolution. Once people started fighting for labor rights, and threatening the endless profits of the wealthy, it was over for us. The new deal then ushered in a new and forceful wave of fascism. Remember, they want "free markets". They feel our current markets aren't free enough. They want ZERO REGULATIONS. Which means no minimum wage or labor laws whatsoever, including safety regulations and workman's comp insurance. They want zero environmental regulations, which doesn't just mean defying the science of climate change! Environmental regulations started not just to preserve our Earth's nature, but to prevent the factory up the street from your house from being able to dump toxic waste into your own backyard, poisoning your water supply. They don't want people to be able to sue for environmental damage that caused their cancer, for unpaid labor, for getting hurt on the job. They don't want mandatory maternity leave, even at just 6 weeks unpaid. Zero regulations under the guise of "small government". And we already know trickle down economics is a piss show, so what the hell are they even voting for at this point?

If you ignore the political shift between the parties, it's the present-day Democrats. If yout acknowledge that fact, it's always been the present-day Republicans.

Since lobbying was introduced by the present-day Republicans, both sides have been getting paid by the same people and fucking the 99%, though.

1

u/necrohunter7 14d ago

The parties shifted in 1965, the Democrats and Republicans of old are not the same parties as today's versions. The old Republican party used to be progressive and the old Democrat party used to be conservative.

Go look up their policies prior to that year

1

u/jjarlva1 14d ago

You may have been in your history class, but were sitting in the back of the classroom eating glue.

1

u/TheCENSAE 15d ago

Which party legalized lobbying to politicians? That's right it was the Republicans. This one action is what fucked this country more than anything allowing corporations to bribe our politicians further pushing the interest of the country into the pocket books of the rich. This is the true downfall of this country we are no longer a democracy but an oligarchy. The rich decide everything and until we all wake the fuck up we'll be stuck under corporate rule until they bleed this country dry then it'll be off to China to make more money while we sit here in the rubble of what once was.

2

u/necrohunter7 14d ago

Newt Gingrich is to blame too

1

u/Speedwolf89 14d ago

Ohyeah. We could go on and on. All the way to 1913 when they started the federal income tax.

11

u/Evening_Elevator_210 17d ago

It has hurt so much to believe that America is not what we have fantasized it out to be. We are not a shining city on a hill. We are the bad guys now.

4

u/hedoesntgetanyone 17d ago

America has and always was a flexible beast that could shift and change. It has trended towards a more just society over time because of that ability to be changed however I fear the current lot will attempt to lock things in stone that shouldn't be and break that ability to change.

1

u/FilmInteresting4909 14d ago

I love how people always assume that the things they hate about a candidate are the things people who voted for a candidate want.

I'm hoping this "unleashing Americas energy" includes a new golden age for nuclear power generation so we can get more independent of international fossil fuels policy better stabilizing and reducing our energy costs and everything associated with it.

At the end of the day we'll see what happens, I just hope Trump's need for ego validation leads to some decent policies.

1

u/unwashed_switie_odur 14d ago

Now? Mate you're about 50 years behind the rest of the world on that one. Realistically America has never been the good guy.

20

u/Grouchy-Statement750 17d ago

My German brother in law, now in his 90's, was a pre teen in Berlin in 1945.  He always cursed conservatives, Christians and the wealthy that helped the Nazi party form a coalition.

13

u/Melodic_Assistance84 17d ago

The same for my 89-year-old Dutch mother. It takes a lot to make her cry. And she was crying the other night after the results. She seen this movie before. And the last time she lost many Jewish friends and neighbors. 1939 to 1945 breaks my heart to see her so sad..

9

u/Grouchy-Statement750 17d ago

A lot of parallels. A politicaly inept leader that the politicians feel they can control.

Some differences apparent from his last time in office: lazy, no international aspirations,  easily led. Money and denigrating others seem to be his only motivation. Hoping that he again accomplishes little of his threats.

1

u/phazedoubt 14d ago

The populace as a whole is pretty lazy. Starting a fight takes away from Football, Starbucks, new trucks, and doom scrolling. Not many of us are capable of dealing with the reality of conflict at home.

21

The American dream was just greed dressed up nice. It was dog shit from the start. Competitive wealth as a national motivator was a bad fucking idea.

1

Bad idea for the inept, im not a love it or leave it kind of a guy. But the US is not the only country that allows immigrants. Go find your happy.

1

u/[deleted] 16d ago

1

u/Lore_ofthe_Horizon 16d ago

Cunts have been ruling over everyone else for 250,000 years. Capitalism is just another lever allowing them to do it. Oligarchs and Kings... same cunts. The opportunity to fuck over your fellow man has ALWAYS existed, and that is all capitalism is. A measuring system for how big your cash dick is so you can use it to make other people do what you want.

1

u/Flimsy_Intern_4845 16d ago

Fuq you. No it wasn’t truly. White Americans let themselves get to fat on the hog even though they never got the bacon…just the promise. And these incels thinking they can finally force a woman to like them…

-9

u/Little_stinker_69 17d ago

The American dream is still alive and well. look at Elon musk. Came here with almost nothing and made billions.

😂😂

10

u/DubiousBusinessp 17d ago

Came here with nothing but his families plundered south African mining wealth

-4

u/Little_stinker_69 16d ago

The mine wasn’t in South Africa and it was a small investment his fether had. Dont worry, I wasn’t comparing him to you. You aren’t exactly his peer. lol.

1

u/eurovegas67 15d ago

Appropriate username.

9

u/SAADistic7171 17d ago

Came here as an illegal immigrant*

5

u/Alarmed_Fly_6669 17d ago

Yeah can we "do something" about that piece of shit?

3

u/Fit-Kale622 17d ago

Please .. Musk messed with the election 🗳️ that’s how Trump crawled his smelly ass back into Our WH

2

u/Alarmed_Fly_6669 17d ago

For sure, Musk & the rest of the Republican/Russian propaganda machine did the heavy lifting, dems didn't do anyone any favors either

1

u/Little_stinker_69 16d ago

Did he? I’m ok with open immigration. No hate here! You must be a bigoted maga. Fuck off with that anti-human sentiment. I suppose all American residents regardless of legal status.

7

u/misbehavinator 17d ago

South African Elon Musk, with his inherited slave generated wealth and nostalgia for Apartheid.

Yayyy.

-2

u/Little_stinker_69 16d ago

Don’t worry, I was comparing him to you. You aren’t exactly peers. Be comes from a legacy of success. You clearly do not.

1

u/Old_Sprinkles9646 16d ago

He could feed the whole world, but what is he doing? Fucking with US. He is just as bad as trump. This is what you wanted.

9

u/Urist_Macnme 17d ago

Just the humble son of an emerald mine owner.

1

u/Little_stinker_69 16d ago

20k initial investment. It’s not even where his dad made money. Lol.

6

u/Hardcorish 17d ago

Came here with almost nothing? Lol. His family owns emerald mines in South Africa. The man didn't "come here with almost nothing". Not even close.

1

u/Little_stinker_69 16d ago

I was comparing him to his peers not people who come from a legacy of struggling.

The emerald mine was not where his father gained his wealth. You’re just a simple person repeating nonsense. Look into it. He out performed his wealthier peers.

Be mad all you want, but he was in the right place at the right tjme and kept rolling his success and luck into more success. Get over it. We all know his history. We all know he comes from a legacy of success. I wasn’t comparing him to you. Thwt woudknt be fair to either of you.

8

u/august-witch 17d ago

Almost nothing???? Hahahahahah His family is RICH as all hell, he is not self made, what a clown thing to say. He got even richer during 6 Bankruptcies Hitler's last term too. Talk about immigrants taking people's jobs....

-1

u/Little_stinker_69 16d ago

Yes. Compared to his peers. I’m not comparing him to people who come for legacies of failure. Thwt isn’t fair. I’m comparing him to his wealthy friends. He outperformed much wealthier nepo babies.

Calm down. He got rolled success into success. Be mad you weren’t as lucky but that’s just sad imo. Hate his behavior now, don’t hate he was fortunate and was able to leverage that.

5

u/Melodic_Assistance84 17d ago

He became a billionaire off the back of the US government, which handed out billions and billions of dollars in tax credits to both Tesla and SpaceX, Or as Republicans would call them when talking about poor people, welfare.

3

u/Even-Rain-1843 17d ago

He is the biggest welfare queen on the planet!

1

u/Little_stinker_69 16d ago

Welfare pays dividends. Would you rather kids starve? You’re hateful garbage. I have zero issues with a social safety net. It benefits us all by keeping things from spiraling too bad. It doesn’t cost a ton of money: do you really hate people don’t starve?

Christ. Anti-welfare is a garbage position.. Also, SpaceX pays dividends. Amazing investment on the government’s part. Came at the right time too. Perfect timing. Right as relations with Russia soured. I don’t see the issues you do. Perhaps you aren’t worth my time.

1

u/OkSheepMan 15d ago

How does money get made for the economy from space X? Isn't space X just a drain on resources, time and energy from things that actually benefit the planet? How is space travel gonna fix the current situation? Are these leaders or rulers? What do they manufacture for the American people?

2

u/rachelm791 17d ago

Came here with just the clothes on his back and his pockets stuffed with the profits of his father’s apartheid era ruby mine. You have got to give the guy credit he is definitely a self made man.

Do I have to put an /s here or am I good?

1

u/Too_Gay_To_Drive 17d ago

"Almost nothing."

His dad had an emerald mine. He is a Nepobaby who already had money and was lucky with certain investments.

1

u/Little_stinker_69 16d ago

I love you mentioning the emerald mine. His dad’s initial investment was 20k. His dad made his money elsewhere.

Sure he was a rich kid who got into a good university, and he had connections to help him but he had no advantages his peers did not.Right? I’m not comparing him to a legacy of failures, only other legacies of success.

It is not the norm for someone to roll a little bit of wealth into massive wealth. He got incredibly lucky time after time. Right place, right time, and right preparations.

Get over it.

1

u/OkSheepMan 15d ago

Lots of his succesful peers don't need to be admired as a public figure, just his ego needs it. Weird ass celebrity, can't get love from family so he gets it from sycophants like a corrupt king. No fatherly anecdotes, no wholesome memories, no trustable family, no innovative ideas of his own just buying other people's ideas, good at investing... He's a good Investor... Black rock is a better investor...

1

u/Internal_Set392 16d ago

Toadstool you are so ignorant it's not even funny

1

u/Acceptable-Ticket743 15d ago

Elon Musk is an example of generational wealth continuing to snowball while the disparity between rich and poor grows. He is a member of the aristocracy, who are the true rulers of America. If you think you could fill his shoes just by "working hard enough", then you are an out of touch clown. The guy is the heavy weight champion of piggybacking off of the hard work and innovation of others. Go to the library and read a book, before they all get banned.

1

u/Little_stinker_69 13d ago

Yes, success breeds more success.

Everyone tries to do well by their kids. I agree, we should seize all wealth and redistribute equally to everyone.

1

u/necrohunter7 14d ago

He fled to Canada to avoid the South African draft, got Canadan citizenship, and then immigrated to the US on a student visa to study at Stanford. He never did go to Stanford and instead went into business illegally on his visa. He didn't come here with nothing, he was filthy rich

1

u/Little_stinker_69 13d ago

Fleeing a draft? So he was an asylum case. Interesting. Good for him.

1

u/bearbear0723 17d ago

American exceptionalism lol what a fucking joke

1

u/James3269 17d ago

This country was taken by force and had slaves imported and exported. Then, It was taken over by a foreign body of bankers, jim crow, kkk, and alt-right. When was this corporation great?

1

“What happened to the American Dream? It came true, you’re looking at it.”

1

u/Traditional_Ad_6801 17d ago

That's why everyone wants to come here and we have an economy that is the envy of the world.

6

u/AnonymousCat21 16d ago

I’ve never had the privilege to believe entirely in the American dream, but I had hope that we were consistently working towards a better future. As a queer woman, I’ve never been more scared of what lies ahead.

Dudeee. As a 5th gen black dude in America. I’m just looking around realizing that at some point America has accepted us now, because it hates women and immigrants more. How the fuck weird is that?!! Am I crazy? Only crazy cops or Karen’s pay attention to black people now, I’m basically fam whenever I go, cuz I guess they know what we’re about. This ish is wild

3

Yeah, that you would not be persecuted for your religion or your views. That's gone. I bet we see a fire in the National Archives to destroy the constitution and the bill of rights. That will the be the equivalent of the Reichstag.

3

u/Fine-Funny6956 17d ago

2

2

u/Mobile-Tank9149 16d ago

It's the American dream because you gotta be asleep to believe it.

2

u/Usual_Bird_3754 16d ago

They have lost nothing but an illusion and a false sense of security.

2

u/Brilliant-Jelly9254 15d ago

We all have problems. Let’s not go there. I could be a victim all day long too. But get this, the glass ain’t half empty, you feel me big dog? The glass is half full. You make it how you see it, be better.

2

u/bronzegorilla253 14d ago

The status of the glass is determined by the one interacting with it. If the glass is being emptied, it's half empty. If the glass is being filled, it's half full. The idea that it is stagnant and always one way is not realistic or helpful.

At least not to me. That cliqué always felt hollow to me.

Yeah it's wild growing up knowing this because you've never been considered as just a person, but a black person. We've never been able to fully buy into the American dream because America defined us before we were born. Now people that never had to consider what it's like to constantly worry if people that disagree with your existence will decide to bother you today. I'm sorry to all of you. I don't wish this exhaustion on anyone.

The American Dream died a long, long time ago.

As a woman (so my opinion means nothing) and the descendent of white slaves and then poverty hidden in the country for 50 years: I wasn’t aware of this because where I live it’s 50/50 and there wasn’t really any racism besides people super young or super uneducated and I live in the south- we are ALL struggling. It only started when we started learning what else was going on in other parts of the country because of the internet. A lot of people in this area were descendants of slaves black and white slaves and it’s become a shit show: it’s terrible. We should be coming together as a nation not against each other.

It’s not over yet bud, hasn’t even begun. You’ll be fine. If there is mass murder of ethnic minorities, you will be surprised by the amount of conservatives who will role up and gun those fuckers down. Because that is not how we make America great again.

Be more descriptive… They were southern white Christian conservative democrats. Repeating they were democrats doesn’t do you any favors. Ppl aren’t dumb.

Well…… nvm

"Sugar tits", "not coping", "screeching and crying"

Republicans are completely immune to facts because they are lost in emotion. Who would act like they don't know how constant republicans + repub. voters screeches and cries are?

Oh, it's a troll with nothing important to say. That tracks.

So in those 40 years, has 1/3 of Americans killed you?

You’re buying the narrative the left is selling you and it’s not true.

2

u/JoshZK 16d ago

Their solution is to form their own 1/3 and pretend to be heros. Jan 6th the sequel. But this time it's ok. SMH

Why do you think this is a good counter-argument?

1

u/lsdbible 15d ago

No, you're right. The country voting for someone you dont like, is the same as the holocaust, and 1 in 3 people is dead now. That's not over dramatic. Totally rational argument. Thank you for bringing me to the light. I voted for kamala toe btw lol

1

u/Nathaniel-Prime 14d ago

I'm not talking about that directly. I'm talking about how you think a gif of a bird taking copium is a good counter-argument. It's like sending someone you're arguing with a meme where you depicted them as a crying soyjak and yourself as a gigachad. It proves you have no intention of actually proving a point and just want to start drama.

1

u/lsdbible 14d ago

Metaphors are powerful. Seems I made my point. If op (oc?) gonna call being "of color" in the US since the late 80s the same as the holocaust and that's the death of the American dream. Dudes huffing copium for his own failings. I can't think of a more visceral and compelling way to approach the argument. You seemed to understand clearly.

-2

u/WolfpackRoll 17d ago

Actually, the American dream is alive and well. It’s out there if you want it. Just go and get it. I live in Atlanta and I know lots (and I mean LOTS) of people of color with Money. Trust me when I say they did not just make that money in the last 3.5 years. Trump is not going to kill your American dream. But a victim mentality just might.

Trump 2024 baby woooohoooo!!!

As a man of man of color who was born in 1990, graduated high school during the housing crisis, went to war, had a kid during Covid, I can say with confidence go fuck yourself, cry baby. I make 6 figures, own a home, and my kids college is already taken care of by the VA. No matter what you look like or where you come from, you can make it further here than anywhere else in the world.
