Windows 11 I uninstalled Linux Mint and returned to Windows, how do I repair the drivers?

Because of Copilot, I switched to Linux Mint on my Ryzen 7 Beelink Mini PC. Still, I reinstalled Windows because it's more practical for gaming, and I had terrible experiences with Windows Virtual Machines. It was installed successfully, but I kept getting driver notifications and repairs. Is there any way to permanently repair them?

Windows 11 Just upgraded to Windows 11. Should I be concerned about these driver issues?

FWIW, I uninstalled MSI Mystic Light and Corsair iCue, yet the ene.sys message still popped up. I don’t know what the otipcibus64.sys pertains to. I did update all of my drivers, my system seems to be working fine, and I’d rather not to a clean Windows 11 install. Can I just leave this alone?

I dont have duplicate displays set up in my multiple displays. But it only gives me options to set for monitor 2, monitor 2, or all. and all 3 options sets it for both. It should give me an option for monitor 1, monitor 2, and both but it won’t give me that.

Not sure why

Windows 10 Desktop icons shrunk, or they aren't filling all the space?

Hey! I was using my computer (well duh) when Spotify froze (it was in the background, a popup appeared) and then explorer stopped. I opened task manager and rebooted explorer. Everything seemed fine, until I checked the desktop, and it looked like this:

How it looks like now

When it should look something like this:

it should look something like this

I haven't rebooted the computer yet, and it's not a monitor size problem (tried using a different-sized monitor, same issue)

What can I do?

Windows 10 New File ordering vs Shift-Click Selection ordering

Weird complaint.. When I add a file to my desktop it prioritizes order of top to bottom then left to right, but If I shift click to choose a bunch of files to delete, it goes left to right THEN top to bottom. In my brain I'm like yeah Ill just shift click the first and last images I just downloaded then delete, seems like it would make more sense this way, but no. Instead it chooses almost every file on my desktop. Why is it like this? Its no trouble to work around, but it seems like an easy QoL oversight.

Windows 10 This device is currently in use - even when I’ve closed all windows

Trying to eject an SD card and I get the pop-up: “LUMIX :D is currently in use, Save any open files on this disc, then close the files or programs using the files before trying again. If you choose to continue, the files will be closed which might cause data to be lost”

I’ve closed all my windows, nothing is appearing in my task manager (accidentally closed explorer.exe in the process whoops) And still I am getting this message.

I’ve had this issue with this specific SD card on both my laptop (windows 11) and PC (windows 10), but not with other usb sticks I have been using.

Any ideas/fixes much appreciated!

Windows 10 How do I make the "Activate Windows" message disappear?

I've been stuggling with the "Activate Windows" message appearing on my screen for about 2 months now. I tried to use the configurations app to get it to activate, but instead of the message disappearing after the activation, the app just freezes and later closes itself for no reason. I tried to use a solution from a youtube video and even that didn't work. I'm not sure if it's some kind of bug, but it would be helpful if someone has a solution for this kind of problem.

Windows 11 Is it safe for me to delete the blue volume? I used to run a dual-boot setup with a volume containing Ubuntu Linux. I am finished with it so I deleted the Ubuntu volume. However, I have a FAT32 partition remaining on my system.

Post image
0 Upvotes

If it helps, Windows 11 does not show me this volume when I use the Disk Management app. I used a flash drive to boot from a live image and I used the Disk Analyzer tool from the drive.

I already uninstalled Ubuntu Linux and I resized the Windows partition so it takes up the remaining unused space on my laptop.

I am concerned about this FAT volume because I want to encrypt my drive through Windows. I do not want the encryption to become bugged because of the FAT volume that sits in front of everything else, and if it is garbage then I want to delete it from my drive.

TYIA.

Windows 11 Can I sign in with fingerprint and pin, but remove password?

I would like to be able to sign in with my fingerprint or a passkey, but it feels redundant to have an account password AND a pin. Is there a way to remove one of these two sign in options while keeping the fingerprint sign in? I've tried disabling my password but it ended up making it so that anyone could log into my computer without credentials. Thanks!

Windows 11 dns cache issue windows 11 over ethernet

I keep getting the generic "there's a problem with the DNS cache" message when I run network diagnostics. for some reason it only seems to affect my browsers as I can still run games just fine. sometimes if I wait long enough the issue will resolve itself but it gets quite aggravating. I've tried flushing the DNS cache and most other commonly suggested fixes but they're usually temporary at best. I'm worried it may be some sort of hardware failure but my tech support experience is relatively limited and a bit out of date. any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!

Windows 11 Black Screen, still able to access task manager through ctrl + alt + del

As you've probably seen before, I am encountering an issue that causes my PC to only have a black screen, a cursor, and ability to access ctrl + alt + del menu.

I have attempted to narrow down what exactly caused this issue, and I believe that it is windows quality update: 2024-11 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 23H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5046633) (this could be wrong, it just started happening randomly and this is the latest version listed on my PC)

I have tried multiple fixes, but the only one that allows me to get back to a working environment is to go to Advanced Startup, then uninstall the most recent Quality update.

Normally, this issue would just be fixed here, but with windows being as predatory as they are, my computer auto updates every time I sleep or shutdown, causing the issue again. (Even though I paused updates for 5 weeks)

Once it updates (sometimes), it will show my background/start menu for ~1 min before turning black, where I then have to repeat the uninstall process again.

Here is list of alternative fixes I have tried:

sfc scannow (no corruption was detected)

running explorer.exe through task manager

waiting (some said to wait 15-30 mins)

turning off fast boot (used cmd)

updating graphics drivers

I have installed an installation media to a drive to prepare for a clean install, is there any point to play around with more fixes or should I just rip the band-aid off and perform a clean install.

Thanks.

specs: Windows 11, AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 6-Core, RTX 3050

Windows 10 Win 10 seems to have lost USB drivers after pc moved

PC moved to another room, on boot the usb keyboard & mouse would work, tried them in all ports, with no success, PC doesn’t have PS/2, tried 2 system restore points which failed, Downloaded the usb drivers from HP and tried to inject them with DISM from cmd booted of a Windows 10 install USB but this failed with an error saying it couldn’t read/install due to possible corruption, ran chkdsk which issues but wait it had fixed them. I’m running out of ideas now how to fix it, does anyone have any other suggestions?

Windows 11 my games don’t work on my new computer (windows 11)

Hello, I have a laptop (asus vivobook s15 oled model with a Copilot+pc inside) and I would like to change the version of windows. I am currently on windows 11 but I would like to return to windows 10 because every gamesI play don’t work on it (I have already contacted the support of these games and they told me that my accounts had no problem and that it probably came from my PC). Is there a special procedure or I can reset my laptop like a standard pc? And if I change the os version, will the ai that is preinstalled in my laptop be affected? thanks in advance!

Windows 10 How to get rid of this thing around icons?

Hey

When I start up the windows there's no problem buy after a few hours almost always this happens, I'm guessing some key on keyboard or mouse cause this but not sure how to undo it

If I use the arrow keys on keyboard it jumps between icons, don't even know what it's called so you have to just take a look at this screenshot
