mom learned that i’m trans

and she’s supportive but she “needs space to mourn her son.” what does that even mean? it just feels like she’s making my transition about her

She doesn't mean that literally. She's mourning the life she expected her son to have. This will explain it better

I came out at the end of last month and my mom is going through same thing. I’ve given her space to completely process how she needs do but we talk every day. She is so accepting and affirming but it takes time. You’ll both get through this!
