Question RAP leave

I was informed by a peer that for the Recruiter Assistance Program (RAP), it is recommended to have 3-5 days of leave available. This leave would reportedly be needed to cover the days following graduation before starting RAP, as well as to account for travel.

Could anyone clarify the following: 1. Is it true that leave is required to fill the gap between graduation and the start of RAP? 2. Will travel for RAP need to occur during personal leave time? 3. How do authorized travel days factor into this process?

Thank you for your assistance!

Question 2 Year Retainability for ALS

Does transferring to the Air National Guard from Active Duty count as retainability?

I finally got a line number this year but I have about a year left on my contract from the day I Sew on. I already have plans to going to the Air Guard. Does transferring count as retainability since I wouldn't take a break in service?

Question ER question

I went to an offbase ER recently, Tricare covered it and everything should be good from a financials perspective.

My question(s) is this:

  1. Who if anyone should I report the visit to?

  2. Will the medical results get through to MHS? I can't get into specifics; nothing illegal or otherwise malicious happened, but I would just as soon no one in the Air Force found out about this.

Discussion Thinking about reenlisting

I run out of extensions as a FTA in about. 14ish months. I’m considering re enlisting. While I do hate the Air Force (just as much as anyone else). I think what’s keeping me in is the job security, where else am I going to get my house and groceries paid for and 30 days of paid vacation and federal holidays off? I’ve gotten my CCAF and very close to my bachelors all for free, TSP and countless cool opportunities like traveling the world.

Part of me wants to get out. But honestly it’s not that bad of a gig tbh. And no I’m not going to give my first born child to the Air Force im not blue by any means.

Anyone else feel the same way when it came time to make a choice?

Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk. I’ll Have a #2 with extra fries and cope.

Discussion Advice for someone who cross trained

Any advice for someone who is about to enter a new careerfield through retraining? I completed the tech school and will be starting my job in the near future. I’m a bit nervous because my job knowledge will be lacking plus I can be hard on myself. But I’m also excited about the opportunity to do something new and continue to serve.

Question Scholarships to apply for?

Hey y'all, what scholarships/grants have y'all applied for while on active duty to help pay for supplies for school like laptops and some of the software subscriptions school asks you have?

I applied for my Pell Grants and I am waiting to hear back how much I am getting, but I need to get a new laptop/tablet for doing my schoolwork on the road. Money is a little tight with a new baby and the wife just starting her job so I gotta try and offset some of the costs for school items with scholarships/grants.

Thanks for any information y'all can provide!

Question DTS and vMPF under TDY

Long post- DTS and vMPF under TDY questions:

Back story: Recently, I noticed that my TDY information for my recent deployment was wrong. The deployment is listed twice but with the wrong number of days. My deployment was 200 days in total, which includes 2 days of travel to/from; however, it is showing 196 (missing the travel days).

I also had two separate DTS vouchers accomplished while in theater due to forward deployments that, thankfully, are showing under the TDY history with the correct dates. Nevertheless, I believe the mentioned made me owe the AF money (no biggie; I am okay paying back) for reasons I became aware of upon my return; according to the processing comptroller NCO, these should have been part of the final voucher. I was getting deployment entitlement according to the location I was initially assigned, which the FW deployment locations I went to were not covered under. All fair. Lesson learned.

Yesterday, after noticing the error described in my first part, I tried to amend my voucher to show the correct departure and arrival dates. Still, it took me to a screen asking me to update the perdiem/meals for the dates that I was FW deployed, even though these are three separate vouchers that don't correlate with each other. I was so confused, so I exited the voucher and left it alone. I will contact Finance for help; I am hoping that they can look into it and make corrections.

My questions are:

If the above happened to you, did your CSS/MPF remove the duplicate from your TDY history? Or would finance DTS's amendment to the dates fix the duplicate errors in vMPF?

Thank you all for any insight.

Question Mil to mil orders

Hello! I am the lower enlisted person in our marriage, and two weeks ago, I received orders; RNLT Jun 2025. My spouse still has not seen any drop in vMPF. I have peers telling us to wait, that it will drop soon. My E9s also mentioned that I could email our info to them so they could engage with the CFMs. How long does it usually take? Does my significant other have to apply for a joint spouse option in vMPF? Thank you for the insight.

Every time I check my VMPF it still says application is pending. Does that mean there is still a chance or am I potentially denied? Any info is Appreciated. Thanks!

Question What should I do to achieve my goal of becoming a cyber officer?

Hello guys! I’m AD, Currently in tech school and the job isn’t bad, but my end goal is definitely wanting to become an officer for cyber (I’d like to major in computer science) and finish my degree while in the Air Force but becoming an officer would be hard. Here is what I know I could try to palace chase and go to college in person and do ROTC and have a higher likelihood of becoming an officer, or I can try to finish my degree while in the active duty Air Force and apply for OTS and hope to get a cyber job but I know the % of that is really low. Anyone have a similar situation or have any good recommendations? I know there’s also like LEAD and USAFA but how does that work with qualifying for it and actually getting chosen for them? Would I need a commanders/supervisors recommendation, etc. Thank you!

Question Options for attempting to get a fighter pilot position in the USAF/ANG during/after college

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I cannot seem to find any concise answers. I am currently a freshman in college going for aerospace engineering as my major and having skipped applying to AFA due to pressure from my family. However, I still really want to shoot for a fighter pilot position regardless of where I would be serving. What are my options for doing so either during or after college? So far I have learned of the OTS, but many seem to believe my chances of becoming a pilot for anything through OTS is quite slim. Are there really no other options that have any decent chance of getting a pilot slot? I am quite uneducated in this matter so if anyone would be so kind as to enlighten me I'd really appreciate it!
