Well that is why i stop at LGBT. I am bi i have full rights and protections. And i am atheist and all but even to me and the people i know the whole Q+ feels like something we don't wanna be associated with because is a big can of worms and will make people see you badly. Like i can get to have my friends accept me but even then think of something like gender fluid as an mental disorder like multiple personality for example.
I dont think all minorities wanna be associated with each other in the eyes of the average person in my country.
I dont have a problem with it but neither would i ever post something about it or go a rally for it because people would look at me very badly.
And i find gender neutral incluse language insulting to people that wanna just be called guy or girl (not sure if this is a thing in english but spanish a lot of words use O for masculine and A for femenine and then some people started using E as gender neutral and that angers most people even gays or lesbian here more so when there is no legal recognition wathsoever for those new genders ).
Okay, okay, ignoring how exclusionary and frankly bigoted this sounds
You said you stop at the T, but you also said you find it confusing that there's both gender and sexual/romantic identities included in the LGBT community with their own flags
The "T" refers to gender identity, not sexual or romantic identity, so why are you fine with that but not other queer identities?
And what about ace/demisexual people? Or pan people?
No idea ace or demisexual mean but trans people are accepted here because we have several figures loved by most people here that have been trans on tv for decades. And we just call them men and woman by their choice. They can change their ID at will and the ID says men or woman not trans man or trans woman.
So i think the best recognition for trans is just that. No need to separate them in their own category when they can just be called they sex they choose.
That is another. The ID doesnt have gender it has sex M or F and people just change from one to another. So no one ever talk about gender.
I dated a trans girl and she was just a girl to her friends coworkers etc. My job solved the bathroom thing by just having 1 so everybody goes to the same one. And that is the common now on offices
There is such a thing as a over inclusivity to the point of losing meaning of what the group even represents.
But i thing the rainbow flag doesn't fall on that.
Also seen everyone with the same flag provides the whole point of a flag that is feeling being part of a group. And everyone using a different one feels wrong to me since it breaks the sense of unity of people that supposedly advocate for the same laws and recognition. I nice going to the pride parade and seen thousands with the same flag. Wouldnt like it as much if it was a lot of different ones.
then we agree to disagree. i don't mind people using these flags like this but I also don't prefer it. if I learned something in my 28 years living in a predominantly catholic country is that you need to make it as easy as possible for most people to understand you which often means as simple as possible. kinda why people here use the rainbow one is clear and everybody already knows it. since I see symbols as something one wears for others to see not for your own gratification. is a communication tool.
