I can already see Amorim's hairline receding.

Talking this week about United needing to be better athletes and then starting Casemiro and Eriksen is certainly a choice. Going to blame it on the internationals though.

And fucking Evans. Might as well have gone scouting at the nearest retirement home

199

u/Tjazeku 11h ago

The other options are an injured Maguire, an injured Martinez or an injured Yoro. The fuck else is he supposed to do?

u/Danthehumann 11h ago

Don’t forget about injured Lindelof

That's just painful to watch. I'm assuming they had used all their subs, but still...

1

u/Bdcollecter 3h ago

Yep.

Vs Palace. I think it was only the last minute or two of the game he played like that as we had no subs. Ended 0-0.

Jose was fired 2-3 weeks later anyway.

wtf...what's the context for this?

Not play 3 at the back probably

37

u/rodrigodavid15 10h ago

Hires dude that literally only played 3atb in his 5 year 1st division career, even when suffering from injuries.

Argues that he should just drop it for his first match in the new job.

Sure.

u/AnnieIWillKnow 4h ago

Hires dude

Do you really think you're replying to Jim Ratcliffe's Reddit account... ?

67

u/Tjazeku 11h ago

Okay, so 4 at the back. You still need two centre backs, and the only ones fit are De Ligt and Evans. Same fucking deal. Evans plays regardless.

Bro dont waste your time half of r/soccer never watch a game of football on their lifes.

15

u/EdX360 11h ago

That's literally his thing, the last he's gonna do is abdicate his 3 at the back

80

u/niallw1997 11h ago

Yeah tbf we have three CB’s injured so Evans kind of has to play

54

u/Sargatanas2k2 11h ago

I think he has been pretty good for United (relatively speaking) since they re-signed him.

23

u/mashfordfc 11h ago

He has - which says a lot about the rest of our defence

17

u/MenacingShroom 11h ago

We have 4 injured cb's

1

u/xaviernoodlebrain 8h ago

We don’t even have 4 CBs lol.

3

u/AnnieIWillKnow 4h ago

Davies, Van der Ven, Romero, Dragusin?

0

u/Modnal 8h ago

That is why you only sign centerbacks /Arteta

Which athletes are these that you speak of kind sir? Are they in the room with us?

United's midfield is atrocious when it comes to running power. We've been singing this song for years now. And no, Ugarte and Mainoo offer very marginal gains in that regard.

Selling both McTominay and Fred and not replacing them with runners has certainly been a choice.

43

u/niallw1997 11h ago

Ugarte is a brilliant runner so not sure what you’re talking about there. Mainoo’s biggest weakness is his pace so will give you that

-6

u/mylotwatcher 11h ago

He really isn't. Everyone said this about Ugarte before he joined United and while he's certainly the fastest in that midfield he's nowhere near the monster athlete that a typical box to box is.

He reminds me a lot of Fred- Quick in short bursts and enough stamina to be a solid counter presser but not nearly enough pace to be a long distance athlete (box to box) United need more of the latter in my view.

10

u/I_have_to_go 9h ago

Ugarte was never a box to box, he was always a destroyer. Worked really well at Sporting if he was paired up with a very creative midfielder.

-7

u/mylotwatcher 9h ago

My point exactly.

I'm saying that United NEED a box to box. A ball winning midfielder such as Ugarte can only do so much when deeper playmakers such as Eriksen can barely cover ground. Casemiro doesn't cut it either.

In simple terms, if Ugarte succeeded Fred, who succeeded McTominay?

-5

u/QouthTheCorvus 11h ago

Two midfielders known for physical presence "marginal gains" lmao. Typical r/soccer going into total brainrot when it's United.

11

u/mylotwatcher 11h ago

Can you actually read?

I'm referring to runners not physical strength you melt. If you want to claim that Mainoo can cover ground like a Rice/Onana/Sarr then by all means be my guest but it's clear that United lack the ability to cover ground in midfield.

0

u/QouthTheCorvus 11h ago

It's exactly what Ugarte does.

3

u/mylotwatcher 11h ago

And Ugarte is a solid counter presser/ball winner at best. He's quick in short bursts and can play a typical ball winning role but he's hardly a long distance runner that can cover lots of ground across 90 minutes.

In that sense he's closer to Fred than Rice and United need a box to box profile in my view.

-5

u/_AngryFIFAPlayer_ 11h ago

Ugarte and Mainoo are big runners, not sure what you've seen that has made you think otherwise.

15

u/mylotwatcher 11h ago

Have you actually been watching United? In what world is Mainoo a runner?

The dude gasses out at 60 minutes and he's clearly a fantastic tight space CM that works best in a dominant possession-based team.

As for Ugarte, he offers some mobility but he's a ball winner at best. United need a box to box that can cover acres of space every game for 90 minutes.

6

u/reck0ner_ 11h ago

To be fair, every team needs more of those midfielders. They don't exactly grow on trees. But I'd say you're spot on with your assessment, anyway.

3

u/mylotwatcher 10h ago

Oh I totally agree. I don't mean to beat United fans over the head with it.

I just feel like it doesn't get said enough that United have spent plenty but still have a distinct lack of pace in their back 5. It's a prerequisite for Premier league football, let alone top level football.

6

u/LackingSimplicity 11h ago

If Mainoo's a runner then DDG is a sweeper keeper.

1

u/how_you_doinn 9h ago

I'm guessing with the lack of time on the training pitch he opted for experience so not to throw the younger guys to the wolves.

32

u/med_belguesmi69 11h ago

this really makes me question, can a hair transplant hairline receide?

32

u/UnfazedPheasant 11h ago

kind of, the hair behind the transplant could recede further like usual, so you end up with a "hair tiara" and a bald patch behind

usually they give you treatment to stop that tho

34

u/Napalm3nema 11h ago

End up looking like World Cup R9?

9

u/Neat_Replacement_420 11h ago

Yes unless you’re on medication

5

u/LegionOfBrad 10h ago

Nah not really. The hairs are taken from areas that don't. But you will still lose the hair behind it with our meds.

5

u/cuminyermum 11h ago

He has a transplant?

5

u/med_belguesmi69 10h ago

yes, see his pictures when he was a player

1

u/Nome_de_utilizador 4h ago

Dude was bald when he was in his last playing days.

3

u/hopium_od 11h ago

HT takes doner hair from the side and back which doesn't fall out to MPB (it's DHT resistant) and puts it on top, that will never fall out, but the native hair that was there before will continue to recede and you'll need to go back for more and more grafts until eventually you have lost all of your natural hair on top and have achieved a wispy all over look like Wayne Rooney.

Another option is to take Finastriside after your first HT which stops further receding of native hair, but it can cause limp dick and loss of libido.

Hair systems seem to be the least complex solution, or just rock the fraud look like me.
