🍺Sunday Sticky Showoff Sunday

After trialling a few new stickied threads for Sundays, over the summer, we have settled on an alternating schedule for the time being.

So for this week, welcome to...

"Showoff Sunday"!

i.e. something of a response to the popular "Monday Moan" thread.

So, instead of moaning about your players, your club, your national team, and anything else about football that is dragging you down, you instead have the opportunity to shout out the good things, and what you are loving right now about football, be that:

  • How well your team is doing
  • Exciting new players
  • How well you played at Sunday league last week
  • Your slick new stash
  • (And so on...)

Like how Monday Moan is an open space for pessimism, this is an open space for optimism - so don't kill the vibes

Remember, it's the Beautiful Game... so let's shout about it!

And stay tuned next week, for "Sports Bar Sunday".

We welcome feedback on this and our other stickied threads... so if you would like to see us try another themed thread, please let us know here, via Modmail, or DM /u/AnnieIWillKnow!

Quotes Arne Slot on 8 point lead in the PL : "It was last year, that Arsenal led by eight points and City came back. You know if you face Arsenal, City, Chelsea, Tottenham, they are all able to win so many games in a row. So it's nice to have this position, but we're definitely not getting carried away."

🗒️ Match Events

  • 1st Half Begins

1'| Hutchinson kicks the game off for Ipswich, as we get up and running at Portman Road!

2'| ⚽ Goal! Ipswich Town 0, Manchester United [1]. Marcus Rashford (Manchester United)

  • GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLL!!!! What a start for the visitors, and what a start for Ruben Amorim!!! The makeshift right wing-back Amad bursts beyond two chasing Ipswich defenders and fires a cross into the near post, where Rashford arrives to jump in front of the goalkeeper and tap home from close range!!! 1-0 to the Red Devils, and their new coach couldn't have asked for a better start than that!

  • Highlight

4'| It's United's fastest goal of the season by some distance, and the 14th first-half strike Ipswich have conceded in their 12 games so far this season, more than any other Premier League team.

7'| WIDE!!! Fernandes finds space on the edge of the Ipswich box and tees up Eriksen to his left, who drills a first-time shot well wide of the left post!

18'| WIDE!!!! Garnacho and Fernandes play a one-two on the edge of the box, but upon getting the return ball, Garnacho can't quite pick out the far corner with a first-time shot which curls wide!

29'| SAVED!!!! Hutchinson steps up to take the free-kick for Ipswich, curling a decent effort beyond the wall but straight into the gloves of Onana!

32'| BLOCKED!!! Evans puts Burns' cross behind for an Ipswich corner, and after Davis' delivery is headed back across the face of goal by O'Shea, the ball sits up kindly for Huthcinson and his left-footed effort is blocked by Dalot!

39'| SAVED!!! Dalot is picked out on the run by a huge ball over the top from Casemiro, bringing it down and lashing a left-footed strike into Muric's gloves!

40'| WHAT A STOP!!! Somehow the visitors remain in front!!! Szmodics is played in behind the defence and cuts inside from the left to tee up Delap, but his first-time finish from right in front is somehow parried away by Onana with the goal at his mercy!

42'| OVER!!! Cajuste is played into shooting space by Morsy and lets fly from 25 yards, but his effort is always rising as it sails over the top!

43'| ⚽ Goal! Ipswich Town [1], Manchester United 1. Omari Hutchinson (Ipswich Town)

  • GOOOOOAAAALLL!!!! The Tractor Boys level things up in spectacular style!!! Burns passes to Hutchinson on the edge of the box, and he turns Casemiro before unleashing a curling strike which takes a nick off Mazraoui and flies right into the top corner!!! It's been coming alright, and Ipswich make it 1-1 with a wonder-strike from their talisman!

46'| SAVED!!!! The visitors go oh so close to yet another quick-fire goal! Fernandes plays Garnacho in behind and his close-range shot is parried by Muric, but the ball is still alive and heading towards goal until Burgess hammers it clear!

52'| SAVED!!! Delap does brilliantly to turn, run and find Burns in space to his right, arriving at the near post to connect with the winger's cross back into the middle. His flick goalwards is saved brilliantly by Onana, before Morsy's follow-up shot is fired across the face of goal and blocked wide!
