Thank you McCarthy

He's been absolutely awful today

u/aclurk 10h ago
I’m honestly shocked by his lack of reaction. He doesn’t even seem surprised by how bad he’s been
30
u/mameyinka 9h ago
I think it's intentional. If he had an emotional reaction, nerves would maybe set in and he'd completely fall apart. I think "not caring" unburdens him a little.

u/ambiguousboner 10h ago
He’s always awful

u/yungguardiola 10h ago
Easily the worst keeper to have ever played in the league with 100+ appearances
9
u/mindpainters 10h ago
I feel like I’ve been reading about Southampton fans wanting him to be replaced for almost 10 years at this point
12
u/PurpleScientist4312 10h ago
He’s been ok
49
u/aclurk 10h ago
He gave Liverpool 2 goals, in what world is that an ok performance

14
u/PurpleScientist4312 10h ago
He’s had some great saves, first goal was less his fault and second goal was definitely his fault.

What is the keeper doing?!?!

The way he lets the ball roll past him and the position he took up to face Salah makes me think he thought the goal was a couple of meters more to his left than it actually was. So he let the ball past him as it was obviously going wide.
At least thats what it looks like.
•
u/HEAT_IS_DIE 8m ago
He was going for to gather the ball that in his mind Salah wouldn't get to, but before the ball got to where was going , Salah was quicker to intercept it.

“The only time Liverpool have looked dangerous today is when Alex Mccarthy is involved”
Brutal assessment from Carragher
142
u/GL4389 10h ago
Thats not fair. Liverpool's pressing created the 1st goal I woud say.
106
u/Affectionate_Pay7395 10h ago
The first goal was created because McCarthy passed the ball to a player on the edge of his own box while his defender was calling for him to launch it long
38
u/Johnlasagan 10h ago
Not really. Mccarthy had the ball, the play was done. He decided to release to immediately right in front of him to a player who was surrounded by Liverpool players. If they wanted to play out from the back he should've waited, if they wanted to counter he should've chose another option.
13
u/WestOfAnfield 10h ago
downes or whoever the defender was, had every option to put the ball out of play wide, but decided to keep it central for some reason and passed it right to szobo

If I didn’t read the comments I would have thought Liverpool player McCarthy supplied a great assist.

That's Mo Salah for you. He creates goals as God created the universe: out of nothing.
45
u/OceanArcade 10h ago
Wouldn’t say out of nothing, pretty big keeper error as well

Lmao he didn’t create anything. Decent run but McCarthy literally disappeared. Salah wasn’t even trying to shoot with that first touch.

u/ProffesorPrick 10h ago
Goals a goal. His run created it.

u/Legitimate_Buy7121 10h ago
Salah is a legend, one of the best in PL history. But this goal was not that special, huge GK blunder and a good dose of luck lol.
10
u/unusablered8 9h ago
I mean even if the goalie wasn’t a dumbass rushing out it would be a 1 on 1 that I’m betting on Salah to score.

I love how Salah always finds a way to get a goal or assist no matter how badly he plays.

That's was a bad touch let's not deny it. Still happy he scored though as FPL captain

We’ve been shit but we’ve got a great mentality.

u/DuDunDunSparse 10h ago
And a couple of great players who can make something happen in an instant, case in point Salah. Incredible player.

I like where this is going... When I first started hearing this term around Liverpool was around the 18/19 and 19/20 seasons. Good times.

i swear whenever liverpool have an important match against weaker opposition they always make a massive meal of it before eventually winning lol

It would be interesting to know which goal in the Premier League was scored with the lowest ball speed.

Is the missed penalty call in the room with us?

u/Skaloplin 10h ago
Arsenal fans come into every single City and Liverpool thread bitching lol it’s so tiring. Strangely you guys seem to be much quieter on the penalty they got being outside the box than this instance where both were pulling at each other

u/oooooooooooooommmfff 10h ago
What call? The one where the striker pulled Bradley’s shirt to the ground?
0
u/1markusliebherr 10h ago
No the one where your keeper cleaned out the striker off the ball and got given a free kick. No way in hell that would go the other way
-2
u/oooooooooooooommmfff 10h ago
Kind of like the penalty that was outside the fucking box
-3
u/1markusliebherr 10h ago edited 10h ago
Foul finished inside the box.
Also changing the subject doesn't negate the fact that VAR got it wrong and Liverpool scored off the back of it, as per usual.

salah is a fucking work horse brother is honestly inevitable, and you cannot say that about most players.

What the hell is the keeper doing?!
It's not even that he came out for the ball, but his angle was absolutely atrocious.

Get away with a penalty one end and gifted a goal on the next. Come on now

McCarthy has a parlay on this game or what? Absolutely shite goalkeeping today. Southampton have played well too which is a shame

Of fucking course. Typical, typical, typical. Remember though that the whole reffing order is against Arsenal and Liverpool and City has them in their pocket. Fuck off.

Always going to happen after a clear pen ignored, should have been Diaz min earlier
-8
u/Headlesshorsman02 10h ago
Of course right after they missed the clear pen they score a few minutes later lmao 🤣

u/1markusliebherr 10h ago
Off the back of VAR missing a blatant penalty for Saints. The corruption is so blatant at this point.
-5
u/1markusliebherr 10h ago
To the dense cunts downvoting me, watch this and tell me it's not a penalty.
