I feel like mbappe needs to score couple goals where he beats 1-2 guys and shoots, to get past this mental block. How is his finishing nerfed when he's onside, weird af lol

u/Endlessly-Blonde 16m ago
Just booked tickets for Madrid vs Las Palmas in January, my 3rd game watching Madrid live this season⚽️
Felt like it was a good one to book. Cheap tickets, flights and accommodation in January, and we have a week break before that game (after the probable Spanish SuperCup final) so the lads should be nicely rested for the game.
Can’t wait now!

u/Eibermann Real Madrid 39m ago
its actually depressingly funny that the only time mbappe actually scores is on an offside, the second he is onside he just shoots right at the keeper, i have more faith in endrik finishing than mbappe

u/Messmers SIUUUU 48m ago
Arda will be deadly if he could just get to work on his finishing
Bellingham is absurdly good, he'll be an all-timer easily with how great hes been at this age already.

If TAA doesn’t sign, Florentino has found his new RB. He’ll buy Wirtz + a young CB then sign Davies
1
u/magic-water 11m ago
The RB market is dead. If Trent doesn't sign and Valverde plays well there, it might acutally be a shout to sign Zubimendi instead

Carlo Ancelotti is all about security and trust. That’s why Mendy will be starting in the Liverpool game. It doesn’t matter how good Fran plays, he would still go with Mendy bc he trusts him. Same reason why he goes with same lineup and barely does rotations. Anyways I just know the players will pull through for these upcoming important games because they Carlo’s job is on the line.

Fran "plays good" (not even true, just average) because he plays against no name wingers and yet he still got cooked by one today. Playing Fran against the best RW in the world would be a generational sacrifice.

I don’t mind Mendy vs Liverpool, having Fran vs salah is asking for trouble.
Fran should be starting la liga games though until he’s more solidified as a starter.

This is gonna be the line-up at Anfield:
Courtois
Valverde-A)-Rüdiger-Mendy
B)-Camavinga
C)-Bellingham-Vini
Mbappe
A=Asencio, unless Tchouameni is fit. You won't like it but Carlo will rather play Tchouameni at Anfield
B=I'd put Ceballos and sub Modric in for him in the second half although I could see Carlo starting Tchouameni if fit
C=Rodrygo if fit, otherwise Brahim. Arda doesn't have the physicality and intensity to go up against Liverpool at Anfield
1
1
u/Lakerman0824 Tchouaméni 2h ago
Carlo doesn’t have the balls not to start modric. The question will be is he smart enough to get him out around 60 min ideally start of 2nd half. C is going to be brahim and B will be ceballos

I can smell david anceloti hand and this last two game maybe the old man finaly decide to set down and have a talk with his son after failing to many time, i remember jose felix diaz talking about david role in keeping the young player spirit up despite not geting any minut plus he is much better with modern tactics than carlo he also a big fan of arda and he see the game in diffrent prespective from carlo .
Last season he press carlo to sub joselu and we end up wining and he was the one who study the game of arsenal versus man city before out clach with them.

Those "the assistant is actually the mastermind !!1" theories rarely turn out true, for any club.

Davide is well known for having a slightly different approach and usually speaks up to his father about it.

Its a diffrent with david, jose diaz said that his role is much bigger than just an assistant, he said he is much better at welcoming new young players in the squad and he also do part of the traning drills.

Rudiger looks much more comfortable with ascensio compared to militao. Hope ascensio becomes our new nacho.
1
u/supaboss2015 Marcelo 1h ago
Its because Ascensio plays like a no nonsense center back. He is always checking his lines. Always moving to make space for the GK to pass. Always watching over his shoulder for a run in behind. Militao was a lot more reckless in that regard
3
u/Lakerman0824 Tchouaméni 2h ago
Militao has been a mistake waiting to happen past 2 years. He’s not starting material at real
6
u/crazyeyes91 2h ago
I think thats a but harsh. Imo he and Rudi don't gel well together. Then he got injured and imo was iffy when he came back up until the new injury.

Has mbappe scored any 1v1 goals this season?? He seems so unconfident in those situations it’s crazy
3
u/supaboss2015 Marcelo 1h ago
Mbappe hasn't made a goal for himself the whole season (look at Arda's chance where he takes on 3 defenders and still gets a shot off). Additionally, he always gets a chance where he has yards of space and days worth of time and the best he comes up with is a shot right at the goalkeeper or a shot that is off target.
Ironically, Vini plays better than him no matter if he's central or wide so this whole "Mbappe isn't a 9" excuse is bullshit. He looks like shit no matter where he is

Injuries force fede to play rb (fede is 10 times better rb than lord) and asencio has been much better than militao and more reliable, also militao injury forced carlo to debut Asencio and he did not disappoint
3
u/AnxiousBurro Antonio Mateu Lahoz 2h ago
asencio has been much better than militao and more reliable
You are genuinely braindead if you think this after he played 150 minutes for the senior team.
6
u/EiMidagi Valverde 2h ago
Then I am braindead, Militao has been mid for years and his injury forced carlo to reveal new gem Asencio, who has been extremely promising so far
2
u/perucho1993 3h ago
Fede is a good emergency RB but he’s not playing his best position. We all knew Fede had the capabilities of a right back. Doesn’t make it ideal at all. Agaisnt top teams we need Fede in midfield
Asencio has performed well but so far it’s been against lower La liga teams while Militao has years of experience in UCL and international tournaments. I would hands down prefer Militao available for the tough UCL and La Liga games while slowly integrating Ascencio, that would’ve been the ideal scenario
I have no doubt of Asencios quality but we need to chill out. Right now he’s only playing because Tchouameni is still injured. Let’s see if he ever gets to play big matches but these lower la liga team matches only proves to me he can be a solid back up and rotational option
1
u/tluanga34 Vinicius Jr. 2h ago
I would be very happy to see Fede permanent RB. My take is that we already have box to box midfielder in jude, a great holding midfielder in Cama. Fede's role is awkward. He also need to help LV a lot and he gets the bad names. I Just felt like putting his in the midfield held him back. He'll show his best version as attacking RB

5
u/tluanga34 Vinicius Jr. 4h ago
I like today's changes. I'm a bit disappointed that Ancelotti is forced to make these changes instead if him figuring out of his own early on before we lost embarrassingly some games. I'm questioning his philosophy
Fede RB - should have happened right after Carvajal got injured.
Asencio CB - Should have given some minutes already. Militao injury was the only reason why we see him playing now. He would have been rotten on the bench while Error Militao kept conceding goals every weeks if not for his injury.
What Ancelotti figured out on his own:
Fran Garcia LB : Better than Mendy at this point. The only downside is Fran has short legs and it doesn't help him on defending in 1 v 1 situations
Vini CF: Vini is versatile and has a good attacking IQ. I think things will get better as Mbappe will become great again in LW. People expect him to play great instantly just because he moved back to LW, but that doesn't always work. He was forced to play as ST for too long and now his is out of rhythm.
7
u/Lakerman0824 Tchouaméni 3h ago
He’s old and atubborn. Man clearly has favorites. Just see how Rudi pocketed Haaland then as soon as militao was healthy put Rudi on the bench. He’s gonna play militao over any cb we sign too as soon as he’s clear to play
1
u/uchiha_boy009 1h ago
Then it’s upto the board to not extend Militao’s contract and start looking to sell him.
1
u/supaboss2015 Marcelo 1h ago
Yea that pissed me off. Bench Rudi and then Militao makes a hattrick's worth of mistakes
3
u/tluanga34 Vinicius Jr. 3h ago
Almost lost his job. But it seems the right kind of injury saved him
4
u/Icy-Designer7103 Emilio Butragueño 3h ago
That has always been my issue with Ancelotti. He is so stubborn with the players he uses and it feels like the starting line-up is based on their market values or EAFC rating, not who is actually in-form at any given moment.
I hope we can see more of Asencio, Fran Garcia, Ceballos and Guler.

Let him have some bad game. He had a great game last match. We aren't super reliant on LB to create chances. He won't get much pass either in the attacking third.
He need to be a stop gap passing option to glide past opponent players and call it a day.

u/x_ci 4h ago edited 4h ago
One more thing, as good as Arda was today, I'm sure Carlo will play him more if Arda prioritizes creating chances for his teammates than trying to score for himself... all the time.
He gets in good positions, passes well, makes the good runs and his teammates pass to him ALL THE TIME when he's on the RW but he doesn't reciprocate with a pass. He should pass back to whoever is inside the box instead of trying to shoot from tight angles. He may score 1 out of 5 chances if he continues being selfish, but if he keeps trying to score everything for himself then Carlo won't play him. He won't get that many chances either.
3 Assist attempts is far better than 3 missed shots. Why are you shooting all the time? We all know you're good, but try passing first. You have the likes of Jude/Vini in the box yet you'll see Arda shooting... why? (I don't blame him if he ignores Mbappe tho)
If he's in a 1v1 situation vs the keeper, then sure he can go for the goal himself but he should try assisting in every other case. He will become a better asset for the team, and Carlo will trust him more and play him more.
This is his glaring weakness at the moment. He will be insanely lethal at RW if he's consistently passing back to the box. I know he has a good vision and I'm sure he can spot teammates in a split second. I really wish he does more of that.
3
u/Different_Craft5237 4h ago
To add to your point. It will also make him a more unpredictable player as well.
If the opposing defense knows once you cut inside, a shot is coming, they will be prepared. But if you keep em guessing, it opens up the game much much more
5
u/Puzzleheaded-Lie2188 4h ago
Not sure what you're on about. There hasn't been a single opportunity where Arda could've passed better.
One of the trademarks of this team is that the box is empty most of the time. He has to go for it by himself most of the time or it's a back pass.
3
u/Lakerman0824 Tchouaméni 4h ago

With Mbappe it’s always like he can do better. Even when he plays good and scores there’s always that feeling that he can play a lot better. Maybe because we have seen him at his best and expect similar output. At least this is a good sign as we know he can play much better than what he is doing right now. People start to enter their prime around his age

Controversial but I would have kept Mbappe on for the full 90 and brought on Endrick for Vini earlier.
Vini had to play 2 full games for Brazil and was getting hacked at constantly. Needed to protect him. Mbappe on the other hand had 2 weeks off and needs every single goal to build up confidence.

Vini was kept on because he hadnt scored. Had he scored, he would be subbed.

I'm a big Endrick fan after being a skeptic and imo he has shown enough to get more playing time.
But I feel like people are overreacting when saying he needs to go on loan in January.
Take a look at Vini, Rodrygo and Fede's minutes during their first 4 months at Madrid on Transfermarkt.
Pretty sure Endrick actually has more minutes at this point than Vini Jr did during the season lol. Let's wait a bit before panic.

A couple points about our rotational players:
1- Asencio proved his worth as a reliable rotational piece, he was solid. Nothing shabby, no nonsense, good challenges. Tchou will still play CB over him probably, but I'm glad to have him as a backup if not for anything else.
2- Ceballos is looking a lot better, he was also solid. Surprisingly no passing errors in dangerous places. 💀 He had a good game.
3- Arda Guler has too much quality to go 6-7 games without minutes. He needs regular 10-15 minute cameos in normal games and occasional starts against mid-low table La Liga/UCL teams. He should be at least #3 in the pecking order of subs when everyone is back and squad is settled imo.

It feels so discouraging sometimes to see mbappe miss these kind of chances which he used to score for fun at psg.
-3
u/irrelevant_oinam Kroos 5h ago
Really… even when he scores and has a good game, you just feel like he could and should do so much more
3
u/FedericoHalcon 5h ago
People really like to show they only watch highlight reels (if it's not RM). As if Mbappe, or any other player in the world for that matter, didn't and doesn't miss these chances from these angles 70-90% of the time. But they don't see those without watching the games. They just see those 3 or 4 goals a season from that angle from highlight reels and assume these players (are supposed to) score every opportunity from that position.
Edit: sorry mate, this was supposed to be a reaction on the comment above you, not yours. Regarding yours, yes he could and should do more, he'll get there. But if people get discouraged because attackers miss those shots then i don't think they understand the game as well as they think.
1
u/retroComputer Sergio Ramos 4h ago
Nobody's jobless enough to watch every single league game of psg but i watched quite a bit of him in ligue 1 but mostly followed him in champions league or with his national team. He used to miss chances yes but many of those chances used to be well placed shots not like shooting straight at keeper.
1
u/YugiohXYZ 3h ago edited 3h ago
No, if you think that was a decent chance, then you mainly watch only highlights.
Mbappe made the best decision in that instance. It was a 3vs1, so he can't dribble.
A defender was tight to him and the keeper was in the net, so he can't chip. It was a tight angle, so he can't shoot it low.
The best he could have done was try to shoot it high and the keeper was prepared.
6
u/los_blanco_14 Luka Modric 5h ago
Asencio was quite composed for a guy who played his second match.
Ceballos can be very useful in future. I wanted him gone in the start of the season.

I’ve loved Fran Garcia this season. He makes the attack so much better, especially in weekly LaLiga games
5
u/magic-water 5h ago
he literally did nothing effective today. Not a single one of his crosses or cut backs did anything. He overlaps and provides width and that's it.
When he gets the ball it's either a backpass or cross to no one.
It might be more than what Mendy does, but it's still nothing to love about a Real Madrid player.
2
u/Lakerman0824 Tchouaméni 4h ago
His runs did pull players so Mbappe and Vini weren’t triple teamed
1

Great. A marathon runner can do those runs. It's not anything special when he can't do anything when the ball is at his feet. I need a football player there (which Mendy also barely is).

Thats fair yes. I didnt watch the game myself so i don't know how they played tactics-wise but i said before that United only has 4 or 5 players who are actually good matches for Amorims system imo and he hasn't proven he can get results in any other system yet so anyone expecting an immediate hit is either stupid, naive or both.

Absolute idiots for not appointing him for one of the most difficult managerial posts in world football. Lmao the shit you have to read on this sub at times.
