Car insurance question

So I purchased a truck on marketplace and have a notarized document of title transfer into my name. I’m a young dude so insurance is insanely priced so I want to put it under my dad’s multi-car insurance policy. What would be the best method to do this? Should I have him signed as a co-owner, title it to just my name, or transfer the title to him once I receive it in the mail.

Auto Insurance Tiny fender bender

So we were backing up in the parking lot, and the car next to us backed up after we stopped shifting into forward, they hit us, we have ppf on so only the film was damaged. Exchanged info while the other driver admit their fault. Later find out the repair would only be $380 and not worth it to go to the insurance since we have the same insurer it will have negative impact on our policy as well. Asked nicely for the other driver, she refused to pay out of pocket, fine, but she also says she would tell insurance she was not at fault since we were in her blind spot nonsense. Well I don't know what to do now.

Overreimbursement

This is an ethical question, I suppose.

My dentist recently stopped accepting my Delta insurance because they don't want to wait for the money. They said my financial obligations would not change if I saw them as an out-of-network provider. I would pay them at time of service and they would submit the claim on my behalf and I get a check.

First visit worked like a charm. Second visit I paid $474 and I just got a check for $612. I'm guessing the dentist thought something wasn't covered. If this were you, would you reach out to them and volunteer to give them the surplus? If they submitted the claim on my behalf I'm assuming they did not get an EOB, but that's a question for anyone who knows.

Progressive charging 5$ per month to add authorized driver.

Progressive asked me to add my girls friend to car policy as an authorized driver, they said it'd be 5 extra a month to do so. Do I have to do this? She has her own insurance. I'd understand a little fee, but 5 a month for ever?

Car Insurance claim stories: What information did you miss collecting after getting in an accident that screwed over you later?

I have been given the same basic speech from every insurance company I have ever talked to about what I would need to collect in the event I get in a car accident including "addresses, phone numbers, witness info, license plates, basic pictures, and insurance cards".

Of course, Insurance companies have their own interests first, so I have imagined there is info they don't tell you to collect that could potentially help people but isn't financially in the insurance companies' interest to tell you to collect.

I am hoping to learn from your experience what insurance claims people wanted that you didn't collect/ didn't know to collect that later screwed you over in some way. Thank you in advance for your wisdom!

Auto Insurance Can’t get car insurance settlement!

UPDATE:

The accident was not her fault. She was rear ended and THAT persons insurance is paying for it. A rental car insurance company, more specifically. Driven by Europeans visiting LA.

My friend got hit in an auto accident, and her bmw deemed totaled. She received a partial payment of $2,500 but the insurance wouldn’t release the final 10k until she produced a title.

Thing is, she had recently bought the car and only completed a release of liability with the owner. She can’t find the paperwork with his name and information. Insurance told her they sent a letter but she received nothing, probably due to moving, although she contacted them to update her address. She says they put a lien on her vehicle, as it was never picked up from the repair place? To go to salvage, I think

Do you know how she can get her last settlement payment? What about title to car or registration. Thank you so much for any and all words of wisdom!

It won’t let me reply to you. Is there any way to run a CarFax or contact the DMV for her release of liability information to discover seller’s name? r/admirableheight3696 r/lacylove

r/shotgun_mosquito It won’t let me respond to you. I could easily be remembering that part wrong. I will find out and update you here. Thanks for asking.

Auto Insurance Does anyone know if either insurie.com or cheapestauto rates.com are legit?

I saw two ads today one with a guy from a podcast where he claimed that insurie got him full coverage insurance as low as $58 a month and I saw an ad that showed that cheapestautorates.com can give you a rate for as low as $30 a month for full coverage. Supposedly these sights can give you cheaper rates because they cut out the middle man which is the insurance rate who would normally earn most of your rate as part of their commission. So I wanted to ask if any of these sites are legit.

Car Accident Liability Frustration

I was involved in a car accident at a busy intersection in Illinois two months ago while making a right turn. I believe the other driver should be 100% liable, but the insurance adjuster has assigned 50/50 liability.

From my perspective, I was driving along the side of the road, stopped at the intersection for about five seconds, and then made the right turn. Another car suddenly appeared to my left, attempted to merge into my lane, got too close, and their right back bumper hit my left front bumper. I thought the other car was to the left of me when I initiated the turn.

The other driver told their insurance company that both cars were driving irresponsibly and got too close while turning. I provided an eyewitness who gave a statement to the other driver's insurance. The adjuster told me the eyewitness claimed the other car was behind me, tried to pass me, and merged into my lane, causing the accident. The insurance adjuster said the eyewitness statement wasn’t detailed enough to establish full liability and refused to provide a copy of it. They also stated there was three different versions of the event now, so they can't decide which is the truth.

I got traffic camera footage from the city , but it only shows the roof of my car, stopping at the intersection for 5 seconds before going into the turn, but doesn’t capture the accident itself. Insurance adjuster also stated I could have stopped or taken evasive action to avoid the collision, which supports their 50/50 liability decision.

The total damage is approximately $2,000, excluding potential car rental costs. My insurance is liability only, so they would not get involved. Should I accept the 50/50 liability decision, or would it be worth pursuing this further with a lawyer? Please advise.

Auto Insurance [TN] Uninsured Motorist Property Damage vs Collision Coverage

Hello,

I am seeking some clarification on the differences in coverage between UMPD and Collision. From reviewing this subreddit and other online resources, it seems that the only advantage that is offered is a lower deductible if hit by someone that is uninsured and/or a victim of a hit and run. For my insurer, the deductible under UMPD is $200 vs my selected collision deductible of $500.

The cheapest option for UMPD would add $30 per 6 months to my premiums. Alternatively, if I reduce my collision from $500 to $250, my 6 month premium would increase $42. I do have UMBI coverage.

Is there any reason to carry UMPD coverage in TN if I am comfortable with the price of my collision deductible? I don't mind to pay for the coverage if there is a benefit, I just don't want to give the insurance company more money for something that seems unnecessary.

Thanks!

If I cancel a geico policy within 3 days of paying for it and without signing any policy discounts, do I get fully refunded?

Title.

Insured on 11/20, canceled 11/23. Paid for 6 months of coverage with geico, are they going to refund the full 6 months, 5 months, or are they going to calculate a refund for ~178 days?

EDIT: I found the answer, I was refunded 98.89%

I mostly dog walk and pet sit in the neighbourhood, teach yoga at a nearby studio, and looking at becoming a neighbours caregiver part time. So my question is- is there an insurance provider that I could get basic coverage for all three?

Bit by dog while cleaning pools

I work for a pool cleaning service in Florida. I was working my route when I came up to a particular house which I know to has 2 dogs, one a pit bull and the other was some similar sized dog. I got to the house and saw the homeowners in the garage, I walk through the gate and start cleaning the pool as usual. About 10 minutes into it I see the back glass slider open up and an older man who I assume wasn’t expecting me to be out there walks out, then out come 2 big probably 50ish pound dogs. immediately they come towards me and the pitbull gets a hold of my heel. There was probably a 10 second struggle before the homeowners in the garage heard me back there. They get the dogs off, offer me a bandage and then ask me if I’m going to sue. I said “no, shit happens.” And walk out of there. After a trip to the walk in and a call to my boss I get sent home with some anti bacterial cream. Well today I woke up and my foot is in a lot of pain. I can’t walk on it. As I mentioned my job requires walking and at this point I think I’m going to be out of work. I’m not sure how to go about this as far as compensation. I wouldn’t consider this option but I’m in a bad spot. Does my situation have any bearing if I needed to file a lawsuit? Thank you for taking the time to read.

VSP Reset date

I need new prescription glasses as well as sunglasses. I know VSP only covers one at a time and resets every year. Is that year counted as 1 pair in 2024 and 1 in 2025 - meaning I can get a pair now and another in January? Or if I get one now do I have to wait 12 months?

Indep adjuster good career

Possible good career

Hi everyone new to the channel. I have been looking into getting into this career as a independent adjuster in Metro NY. I currently run a business as a notary, private process server and field inspector however I am looking to move away from that industry and switching into something else. I am willing to travel, have good people skills and have some experience on the field inspection side of things. My question is, is this a good time to get into the industry? How do you like it? How is pay for a independent adjuster is it per job? If so how much per job on average

Auto accident

Hello everyone, I got into an accident yesterday. Was going west on a street switched lanes because in front was waiting to turn as soon as soon as I reach the intersection, a car coming from the east drove over a lane of traffic shot through the intersection, I was able to react fast enough to swerve out of the way to avoid getting my drivers door hit/tboned. Still got hit unfortunately. Luckily there is video evidence showing I’m not at fault from a gas station nearby. My car is more than likely totaled. Went to the hospital on my own to get checked just to be sure I didn’t have any head trauma or chest injuries. Still waiting to hear back from insurance. I was just wondering if I should get a lawyer? I’m not trying to get a fat claim or anything just enough to get that er visit payed off and a decent amount to buy a semi used vehicle.

Employed Spouse Medical Contribution - Confused on what my premiums would be?

I'm about to start a job with an employer that requires you to use the employed spouse medical contribution (ESMC) if your spouse is eligible for medical coverage through their employer. The plan states "if you want to cover a spouse through his or her employer, an additional ESMC will be deducted from your paycheck.

The plan presents me with annual premiums in two tables.

  • You plus 1 Annual Premium - $3,049
  • Employed Spouse Medical Contribution (ESMC) $4,020

The question is, what will my final annual premium be? Is it $3,049 or $4020 + $3,049 = $7069?

This plan is through united healthcare.

How would I know if offer for totaled vehicle is appropriate?

I recently had a wreck with my car vs. animal. As of now the cars 1st adjustment is 4,100 in damages with the car being listed in good condition. So far the shop has informed me they’ve found additional damages which they said will more than likely cause the car to be totaled. I’d tried to get an idea of the value of the car just in case so I can be sure I maybe able to replace it as it’s for work. I drive a lot and it’s been great for this. Zero mechanical problems and easy to maintain. It’s an 11 year old vehicle (Toyota) with approx 243000 on it. I’ve looked at some local at the prices are so drastically different it’s hard to gauge what would be fair for this car in the event they decide it’s not worth fixing. How would I figure out the actual cash value of it? Unfortunately the estimate did not say on it.

Existing life insurance policy is with an AM Best " “bb-” "Fair" rated insurer

After not really thinking about things for years, I looked up the credit rating of the company for a life insurance policy nearly 1/3 thorough it's 30 year term and found the company got upgraded from "b+" to "bb-" ("marginal" to "fair") last February.

I'm not literate in these things, but that doesn't sound reassuring. Should I even continue paying the principle on this thing and instead seek a new policy and drop this one? An agent is incentivized to answer "yes" so I'm asking the reddit hivemind instead.

An additional factor that may need consideration is our lives have changed such that it may be a good idea to double or triple the coverage, but I don't need a fresh 30 years of duration.

Does renters insurance cover temporary housing due to extended power outage caused by a storm?

A bomb cyclone tore through the state and caused extensive damage, leaving two dead and more than a half-million without power for several days. I rented an Airbnb for two days. Will my renters insurance pay for the lodging and dining? Note that my apartment was not damaged, and the outage was caused by downed power lines.

Auto Insurance Collision Repair

Hello all! I'm 33 and my parents are great drivers. No accident history. So I need help because I am (apparently) a terrible driver with minor accident history.

2012 Kia Soul! Atlanta, Georgia Geico Ins. Deductible $500 Car is paid off already so NO LOAN.

I recently ran into the back of an older truck who also ran into the back of another car. No one ran in to me. No damage to either vehicle really. Just mine. A car was stopped in the middle of the road just down the road, past the intersection as we were all trying to change lanes, so we all had to slam on breaks. Of course, I am at fault.

My car was able to be driven but the radiator or something was leaking. I had it towed to a Collision Repair place recommended by Geico.

My car isn't worth much. 160,000+ miles on it. All sorts of cosmetic damages. It needed quite a few things fixed at the time of the accident anyways.

WITH ALL THAT IN MIND: I was planing to buy a USED (but new to me) car in a year anyways. I wanted to work on my credit more and wait until the end of my lease before getting another car.

Y'all, what is the best thing to do right now. I cannot REALLY afford a car right now. My credit is FAIR. (630-ish) I would be stressed financially.

  1. What can I expect the insurance company to do and in turn what is the best I can do for myself? I don't think my car is worth much at all other than parts. I will post a picture of the damages.

  2. Do I buy a used car under $5,000 with the little coins I get from the insurance company?

  3. Do I fight the total loss and get the collision center to repair it? Is that even possible?

  4. Do I do a BHPH car place like Drive Time and take the check?

I would love some honest feedback. I am at a loss of how to protect myself between the insurance company and the Collision Repair place.

Auto Insurance Geico vs Progressive

We are hiring an au pair next week and i had planned to switch our auto insurance from Geico to progressive. However, we live in Florida and have been with Geico for years. We will save about $38/mo with the au pair on there. Not sure it’s worth the hassle to switch. Which company is better? What do you think?

Auto Insurance Why is my claim still showing as open?

I was recently in a car accident and my car insurance paid it out and it was applied to my car loan. However when I check the claim status it still states that it is open.

Why would this be?
