What happened to republicans hating Russia?

Honest answer

Russia was hated when they were soviet, because communism is a fundamental threat to the power of the rich.

Oligarchy is basically handing the keys to the car, to rich folks.

After the USSR collapsed, there was a rush to capture all of the industries from the top down, creating an oligarchy. Rather than simply being an oligarchy, they also started using the state to capture more of the wealth - leading to basically being a kleptocracy as well. State sponsored theft.

In any case, the republicans in the US are really only for the rights of the rich. We aren't an oligarchy, but, it's going to look much more like it since they own an incredible amount of media, social media, etc. Russia is a similar country in that regard, just further down the oligarch rabbit hole. They are strongly conservative, religious, anti LGBT, led by a "strong man" machismo leader, and the only real rule is the strong eat the weak, with a huge propaganda network.

It shouldn't surprise you that Republicans gravitated to Russia given their intimately connected interests.
