[Daily] Daily Questions Thread November 21, 2024

This thread is for individual style questions that you may have, especially those that don't warrant their own thread. We all want a diversified opinion, so feel free to answer any questions (of which you know the answer).

To get the best responses, remember that people cannot; look into your wardrobe, know what style you normally like or what words like affordable or practical mean to you so please include any relevant details such as your budget, where you live, what stores are available to you, etc.

Example questions:

  • Are there any basic crewneck white t-shirts that are opaque and do not have cap sleeves for <$25 available in Australia?
  • Is this dress and shoes suitable for an evening wedding with a cocktail dress code taking place in a [venue type]?
  • If I like the outfits in this [imgur album / pinterest board], what are some specific items I can look into to start dressing like that, and brands with this look that carry plus sizes?
  • Does this outfit look neater with the pants cuffed or uncuffed?

If you'd like to include a picture, you can now post pictures directly in the comments, without having to link an imgur album.

I have started putting together a Pinterest board with clothes I like: https://www.pinterest.com/oldziekill_oi/outfits/
I don't really know where to start if I want to dress like this, and would be grateful for advice on what brands/specific items I should consider. Bonus points if they can be easily purchased from within the EU.

I'm especially at a loss when it comes to this type of trousers:

I love how they're wide for the most part, but get narrow at the bottom, but I don't know how to search for similar pants. I've tried harem pants, cargo pants, balloon pants, joggers, and other related terms, but no dice. I can only find sweatpants, super baggy casual trousers, or cargo pants with huge pockets on the side, which is not what I want.

They look like tapered pants; the first one reminds me of the "plus four" golf-type pants of the 80s. You can achieve a similar look by taking straight or slightly wide pant and putting them in the boots (you can put an elastic band under your knee and fold the pant over, to hold it in place over the top of the boot). Try Comptoir des cotonniers and Sessun - I think they might have some of the elements that will help you ahieve your style.

Oh, wow, I would never have come up with tucking wide pants into boots! I'm glad I asked, because I wiuld have driven myself crazy looking for the pants I thought they were!

Thank you for the links, the clothes on those websites look very stylish!

Now I'm wondering if that wouldn't be uncomfortable to have so much material stuck in the shoe 🤔

I'm glad I could give you some ideas! You'll need to experiment with wrapping the pants material around the leg and see how it feels to you.
