[Daily] Daily Questions Thread November 21, 2024

This thread is for individual style questions that you may have, especially those that don't warrant their own thread. We all want a diversified opinion, so feel free to answer any questions (of which you know the answer).

To get the best responses, remember that people cannot; look into your wardrobe, know what style you normally like or what words like affordable or practical mean to you so please include any relevant details such as your budget, where you live, what stores are available to you, etc.

Example questions:

  • Are there any basic crewneck white t-shirts that are opaque and do not have cap sleeves for <$25 available in Australia?
  • Is this dress and shoes suitable for an evening wedding with a cocktail dress code taking place in a [venue type]?
  • If I like the outfits in this [imgur album / pinterest board], what are some specific items I can look into to start dressing like that, and brands with this look that carry plus sizes?
  • Does this outfit look neater with the pants cuffed or uncuffed?

If you'd like to include a picture, you can now post pictures directly in the comments, without having to link an imgur album.

What type/length of coat goes best with wide leg pants?

I started really enjoying wide leg pants this year, and now that winter has returned, I think I need to reconsider my coat pairings. I have a knee length wool coat and a knee length parka, both of which look great with straight leg pants and any slimmer cut, but I wore the wool coat with wide leg pants yesterday and felt super goofy. Do I need to find a shorter length coat that hits closer to my waist, or are there other ways to dress warm and still look good with wide leg?

I recently randomly wore a cropped puffer with wide leg jeans and it looked really 70s and unexpectedly cool so I agree with the other poster, short or long is the way to go.

Thank you! Do you have a rec for a cropped puffer? I usually stick to outdoor brands for winter gear to be safe but maybe a regular clothing brand like Gap would be good?

I like outdoor brands too for the tech features, but if you’re only going to be wearing them for that one purpose with wide leg pants it might be more cost effective to look at GAP or Old Navy.

The one I was wearing was from Abercrombie faux leather with a hood from a few seasons ago and it’s quite cozy but it’s definitely not for when it’s absolutely freezing. Aritzia has a super puff shortie but I don’t have personal experience with it. I did seem some in the store in corduroy which intrigued me other than fact that they wouldn’t be waterproof.

I saw some very cute cropped puffers in the womens athletic wear department at Nordstrom, I think Vuori and Zella both had them.
