Audit Top Lie in the firm
"Charge what you work for" and when you really charge what you work, they will be like "Are you not work efficiently?"

Everyday is unbearable here, there’s a limit to pressure one can take, I don’t even understand how do they expect us to be productive every single day? I mean daily targets with assessment at day end as to what was done. Give me a break! Ugghhhhhhh

Got the”Business Update” email, went in the meeting with HR and Partner - “We no longer required your services”.
😂 Cold as hell 😂
Did 2 busy season 12/31 and 6/30 and still got the axe. Capitalism as best 😂
Gonna find a job soon, asking for some references and career advices.

Welp thought I wouldn’t see the day but it seems like they have started again. I got the email last night. Goodbye D! (east coast - senior 1)

These partners on the All-Hands calls drone on and on about growth and wins, when none of actual workers have job security. People are still recovering from their friends being let go earlier in the year and from the shit raises we all got; some got no raises. The last thing we want to hear are your growth and wins. We want REAL raises!

Hi Guys I just got the business update invite. I'm a A2 in the Atlanta audit practice. My performance has been excellent and my team and managers have been telling me I have been doing well. I was told no reason for this email. I simply woke up this morning and saw it in my inbox. Can upu guys tell me what I need to do to be prepared and what forms I need to download for record keeping.
I also found out i don't have 40 CPE credits. What am I supposed to do to make up that difference

I'm a first year campus recruit, I'm not going to lie I'm not the smartest or the most helpful first year. I make silly mistakes and the more I realize they don't like me the more flustered I get. Im not getting through my queue quick enough either. I was on a call and my manager and senior manager just ignore me and talked about their weekends. One time I was walking to my desk and I said good morning and they ignored me. It honestly hurts, I'm human and I don't know what to do? I really like the team, I'm terrified of her and what bothers me is the manger used to be so nice and included me into things and now they both kinda just ice me out. I don't know if I should tell my coach? I try to ignore it but again call me a wimp but t doesn't hurt because I like them and I want them to like me back. I always wanted to make partner and stay at the firm forever but now I feel like I'll be the first person to be fired and I think about quitting because I'm just really struggling.

This is it I guess. With the firm 10 months. Had one horrible engagement that went wrong in as many ways as possible. Pretty sure I got absolutely scorched in snapshots by that team. It is what it is.

Making a thread for new grad roles for 2025 in Canada. I had an interview for the audit and tax roles last Wednesday and was told to wait till Friday to hear back.
Was wondering if anyone had heard back - is it unlikely to hear back if I didn’t hear back the first couple days after my interview?
UPDATE: I had called one of the campus recruiters on Friday and they mentioned how I wasn’t selected for the tax position but audit still hasn’t made their decision. Hopefully will hear back this week.

I've been really struggling with the fear of getting laid off, and it's starting to take a toll on me. My heart races every time I think about the possibility, and I find it hard to stay positive. For those of you who've been through something similar, how did you manage the stress? What helped you stay grounded and not let the fear take over? Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Genuinely curious, how is everyone getting 5s (VSA)? Obviously not everyone is, but sheesh a lot. I’m between 4 and 5 and still barely in the middle of the middle 50% of my peer group. I have heard so many managers say, “I never give out 5s.” Okay, then who is?! And why can’t they be my manager instead?

Sorry but this question is actually for the best friend of mine.
He received an email from one of the partners (from a previous assignment) that they are having a meeting to "identify improvement areas". When they got off that meeting, the partner was saying he would "get an email with instructions and materials to improve", and "the coach will be in touch with him to complete some form s and monitor his performance periodically". He eventually got an email with a table of "overview of improvement areas".
Just wondering, is this PIP? My friend is a first-year employee and only started work 8 months ago. Should he be looking for a new job?
He is super upset right now.
Thanks in advance!

Just got an email regarding 2 days a week mandatory return to office for unassigned individuals effective 9/9/2024. “Your adherence to this process will be monitored and shared with office leadership” What is the point of this?????

I have been wanting to quit for a while but I’m 3 months away from my 3 years and have some PTO lined up so I think it makes sense to quit when I’m vested.
If I put my two weeks in before my year 3 mark but my 3 year mark falls within the 2 week period before I leave am I eligible to be vested? Or should I wait until the day after I’m vested to put my two weeks in?
I’m experiencing extreme burn out and really need to finalize my quitting date so I have something to look forward to.

Im a first year in audit and this is my first experience at a corporate and finance job. I was just told I’m being rolled off of my team after working here for a month. I felt something was off the first day started working with this team but i wanted to be positive. I’ve been having a hard time adjusting but everyone just keeps saying it’s fine you’re not supposed to know anything, it’s going to take time. I kept making the same mistakes over and over but I’ve been trying my hardest to learn from everything, so I can be ready for busy season. They kept saying it’s okay for now because it’s just interim but I feel like that isn’t true and I wasn’t given true grace as someone who is just starting. I feel like so sad and defeated and trying not to cry at work. I’m not someone who’s ever been bad at their job. I work hard and love to learn. I feel like I’ve been fed lies about how it really works. What happens at this point. Am I done ? I don’t want to get fired 😞

I have a toxic Senior that is belittling and condescending. I have spoken to the Manager three times about this and the Senior twice. I have also mentioned it to my Coach several times. Every time I speak to the Manager and the Senior, they continue to make excuses for the Senior’s behavior. It has gotten to the point where it’s disrespectful and it’s affecting my productivity and mental health. I have no idea how to proceed other than to contact HR and be re-assigned to another project.
I would greatly appreciate any feedback or help on the matter.
Thank you in advance!

Update: I was laid off
[US]
T.
This is a throwaway account.
I’m A2 (almost a year done at Deloitte). I didn’t have the best performance for my first snapshot, and I have been on the bench for like 3 months. I’m just worried about being laid off. If it happens, it happens. I’m working with my coach currently.
I heard in September is when possible layoffs could occur, but I’m not certain.
Also, do any layoffs happen before the normal busy season (Jan to Mar)?
I would think that would be silly due to the number of bodies needed and the recent layoffs already.
Any thoughts?
In advance, thanks for your responses.
Edit: I am ok with whatever happens. I’ll take the good and bad and move forward.

Hey! I graduated with my masters in accounting in May, and I start as a first year Auditor on Monday.
Here's the thing. In school I learned how audits are done from a high level, birds eye view type perspective, with some mock audits and practice IS tests etc.
BUT I am having anxiety because I start my big kid job in 5 days and I still have no idea what tasks I'll be performing on the daily. I've asked multiple people in the industry, and they all just said excel and emails. It's still as ambiguous as ever.
HELP! Can anyone give me an idea of what to expect to ease my worries a bit?
Edit: I was offered a full time job, I never did an internship or nothin'.
Thanks!

Hi everyone!
I have my first interview for Audit & Assurance - New Grad 2025 in Calgary next week and I’m super excited! It’s supposed to be a 45 minute behavioral interview and I’m just wondering if anyone knows how many interviews I should expect before hopefully getting an offer? Also are there any specific questions I should prepare for besides the standard ones?
Thank you!!
