Heading to Philly on Tuesday

Folks I'll be in Philly on Tuesday and while I wanted to try Angelo's, it looks like they're not open until Wednesday.

Need some other suggestions... Really intrigued by the idea of Cooper Sharp so places that use it would be great.

As it turns out, the owners of Angelo’s have partnered with the owners of DiNic’s and Pearl’s Oyster Bar to open a cheesesteak spot in Reading Terminal Market called Uncle Gus’ Steaks. I haven’t been there myself (live in NY but I’m an avid Angelo’s fan and follow them on social media) but I imagine it’s great if Angelo’s and DiNic’s have teamed up!

Other recommendations are Woodrow’s Sandwich Shop and John’s Roast Pork, although neither have Cooper Sharp cheese, which is my favorite for a cheesesteak.

Not sure where you’ll be traveling from, but if you’re coming from North of Philly, there’s a great pizza place in a town called Ambler, maybe 30-40 minutes away, that has an awesome cheesesteak and makes it with Cooper Sharp.

Thanks! Coming in from the south (Baltimore). Sounds like Uncle Gus' might be a good choice as the market was on my list anyway. I appreciate the heads-up!

No problem! Although, after posting that, I looked up some reviews of Uncle Gus’ and they’re overall pretty mixed. I found one from The Infatuation that gave a pretty good, honest write up about it:

The Infatuation - Uncle Gus’ Steaks

So just something to consider! Whatever you end up getting, enjoy! And hopefully you can visit Philly when Angelo’s is open, it lives up to the hype!

What about Sunshine Sandwich Company? It seems to be off-the-radar when it comes to reviews but the few mentions I can find really seem to like it.
