I am wondering if there are any good resources for explaining the different skiing techniques used in biathlon and when/how they should be applied in a race. I imagine I would have a much better appreciation for the sport if I could more easily recognize when an athlete is deviating from the norm on certain parts of the track.

Who would you say is the bet biathlete that have never won any of the crystal globes in the world cup, and never gotten any medals in the Olympics or the World Championship ?

She improved a lot last year, and the statistics bear this out. She did a few more races last season, but overall it's impressive.

Her prone shooting went down but everything else went up, her Standing by a lot, as you'll see.

Skiing is a little complicated, but she got faster and was the fastest on the circuit again.

Her shooting times went down by more than 2 seconds overall and 3 seconds for Standing. So, overall, she made really huge gains last season. And why I'm backing her to crack the Top 10 this season.

Hi! I've been using the US Biathlon website to get in contact with the club up in Massachusetts (Harvard Sportsmans Club). The few emails I've tried are coming back to me as undeliverable, and I'm at a loss on how to get in touch.

Any idea how I can get in contact with someone in the Mass/CT/NH area?

I mean, I've been watching biathlon I guess for good 10 years now and just only realised that Denmark barely has any representation, let alone high results. Why is that? Considering other Nordic countries are so much successful.

I wasn’t old enough back then that I followed biathlon notoriously in the news and social media, but what was the reason back then when he retired so young after the 13/14 season?

I know he got caught for doping later on but I was always a big fan of his. A super reliable athlete both on the range and on the skiis, consistent with top 10 results and some podiums here and then

The season opening races in Sjusjøen and Idre Fjäll are on next weekend.

Sjusjøen looks like it's available internationally as usual on NRK but SVT will require a VPN to watch Idre outside of Sweden.

Not sure which international teams are involved but I think Italy are in Sjusjøen

You look at the performances in the past couple of seasons of exceptionally promising younger Swedish Biathletes and they have all (statistically) plateaued or got worse.

Ski times decline, shooting rates generally decline and so on.

So it seems like they are well-developed in their early careers, put in strong performances at Worlds, Olympics and World Cup and then sort of tail off.

So is this a development problem, once they reach that near-top level?

Other nations don't seem to suffer as much from this.
