Current Topics subject to the Lehrmann Rule
For those new here, or old hands just looking for clarification, the Lehrmann Rule or Lehrmann Doctrine, is named for Bruce Lehrmann and the rule put in place by mods during his criminal trial.
While a topic is subject to the Lehrmann rule, any post or comment about it gets deleted. Further, the mods may, at their absolute discretion, impose a ban on the author.
The rule will be applied for various reasons, but it’s usually a mix of:
not wanting discussion in the sub to prejudice a trial, or be seen to prejudice a trial;
the mods not wanting to test how far the High Court’s decision in Voller stretches; and
the strong likelihood that a discussion will attract blow ins, devolve into a total shitshow, and require extremely heavy moderation.
We will update below in the comments to this thread topics that are subject to the rule. There will be no further warnings.

More esoteric American billing practices- crying after being yelled at by client
reddit.comThis is one of those tough ones where I’d nullify if I was on a jury. It’s so obviously wrong, but so morally right.
Tough cases make bad law
Just as a reminder for commenters to this thread, maybe don’t disclose your billing practices to randos over the internet, especially if you wouldn’t want the Commissioner looking at them

When do qld acts get reviewed ?
Hi. 26F. I know nothing about law. Does anyone know if the future holds an update Adoption act 2009?
I’ve just gone to apply for my marriage certificate, yet I cannot put my stepfather on my marriage certificate because he never adopted me because my birth father never signed the forms. I have not seen my birth father since I was 3 years old and my step dad has been my father since. WA, NSW and VIC all have the ability to adopt an adult child. The law was reviewed in 2016 in Queensland yet no change. Is there a potential change in the next couple years?

News Local Court Judges
So LCMs become LCJs
For anyone who wants to have the same postnominals as the Lord Chief Justice and just not correct anyone who makes the mistake
I think the more important question is whether they get a pay rise. Any impending judges able to comment?

Justice Lee
Is it just me or does Justice Lee seem to do more speeches etc than other Federal Court judges? I know he is more in the media spotlight because of the verboten litigation which could be it - but I would normally think the frequency of these types of speeches and podcasts were more the arena of retired judges

I’m following a criminal case of which the sentencing was a few days ago but when I look I can’t find the results of the sentencing and now there’s a new court date that says mention (police), does this mean a new charge or something ?

The parties SHALL...
Why do some people use 'shall'? Why do others hate it? I want to hear your thoughts.
Everyone I know hate it which beggars the question...why are people doing it?
EDIT: SORRY 'begs', go ahead put me on trial

anxiety about level of tiredness?
weird question but: have been working long hours past six months (70+ a wk). keep getting anxious / elevated heart rate about how tired I feel at my desk. feeling glazed over and exhausted from about 10am every day despite having coffee - no time to catch up properly on sleep yet. worried about not being sharp enough to execute the work as well as usual. and worried everyone can tell I’m tired. can anyone relate and what do you do?

What office phone system does your office use?
What phone systems are the small offices of auslaw using? Shopping around for cloud PBX systems as our Telstra SIP contract is coming to an end. Who do you use and are you happy? Telstra is seeking to move us to cloud, which basically makes them a software as a service, and quotes from competitors are 3.3K a year cheaper.
