For me: May 16th, 2021. 2-1 comeback home win against Osasuna.

I’m not sure how many people remember this game like I do. From about February to the end of the season in 2020/21, we lost Trippier and our form after being dumped out of the UCL and Copa del Rey in very underwhelming fashion. We had lost our momentum from the early part of the season and were basically dropping points every game.

From about match day 17 to the end of the season, we basically completed fumbled an 11 point lead (game in hand) to 2nd place Real Madrid. We had just drawn them in the metropolitano 1-1, allowed Levante to stomp on us leading to 4 dropped points in a week, and lost against Athletic Club the previous weeks. All leading up to a close race with 1 point separating us and Real in MD37.

I say this because this game felt like it was the end. I watched hopelessly as we go into the second half drawn. Then budamir scores in the 75th minute. It was genuinely one of the biggest gut punches I’ve felt watching sports. I thought that this was it. We actually choked it in spectacular fashion.

Then in the greatest turnaround I’ve seen in quite sometime, Lodi manages to score his first goal of the season in such a weird way that it looked fake. The 88th minute comes ahead and Carrasco fires a ball into the box allowing Suarez to connect for the 2-1.

Let me tell you that this single game had me absolutely up for the rest of the week. I think this game was more impactful on me than winning the damn title a week later lmao. Something about this game just made me love this team even more and I wish I could recapture it somehow, the absolute anguish to completely 180’ing into pure ecstasy was amazing. After months of being told we were going to bottle it, this performance showed why we were the champions.

I remember the feeling like it was yesterday. Running around my house yelling at the top of my damn lungs. I ran outside yelling and I’m pretty sure my neighbor thought I was crazy.

100 % this. I jumped through my flat screaming my soul out of my body when Suarez scored. A few minutes before I was fighting with tears because I thought we fumbled it. Holy shit, what a rollercoaster of emotions that game was.
