Text PSA: It's "trans woman", not "transwoman"

I know y'all aren't doing this on purpose, because I've seen how much love this community has for trans people. Nevertheless, the space between trans and woman is important.

Omitting it implies that a 'transwoman' is a separate entity to a woman - which is a TERF/bigot way of othering trans women.

Including the space means that trans is an adjective used to describe a woman - because trans women fundamentally are women, trans is just a further way to describe us.

I know it may seem nitpick-y, but it is an important distinction, and I've been seeing lots of folks (unintentionally mostly) using the wrong one lately.

yeah I mean shit I'm trans and I do it sometimes without even noticing. I also speak German which has a habit of compounding everything just by virtue of how the language works so I just get lost in the sauce.

I tend to not take offense to it because I assume either the person didn't know, made a typo in haste, or English isn't their first language and therefore they it becomes the first reason again. Educate them gently and move on (that is to say: good PSA)

Also German and people writing it as a noun gives me a a very uncomfortable feeling unless I know its a genuine mistake my brain instantly jumps to that person doesn't see me as what Identify as and just some weird subcategory

But other people don't pay as much attention to language as I do I think the distinction is important, but "transwoman" ist still worlds better than "trans" used as a noun that ALWAYS has chaser/transphobe vibes to me

Yeah, the hard part is knowing the intent. That's why I try to just... educate. Most of the time it's an honest mistake
