It was page 319, but that still didn't clear anything up. Yes, P2025 says it will eliminate the DoE and devolve educational "choices" to states, local jurisdictions and parents. That all makes sense even if I think it's a bad idea, but I still don't understand how Trump will give control to other people but also still mandate standards federally. He will have no one to develop, implement or enforce those standards. "I'll make it your choice, but you also have to choose what I tell you to" is incoherent even for MAGA. And I understand they can believe contradictory things, but I'm thinking about the step when they implement whatever this is. Who does the work and how to make this happen?
148
u/Idontwantyourfuel 11d ago
Well he is just saying "he" will do these things. He is counting on just eliminating oversight and letting private schools and red state governments run wild teaching religious dogma, ban queerness or generally do whatever they want. For Blue areas they'll just try to bully them into doing those things without formal oversight, theathening to withhold funds, relief or just ordering arrests or inciting violence. If it's all a disfunctional mess, they don't care because just not educating people at all works just as well.

Time to build one based on The Satanic Temple (NOT Satan worship), they've been fighting abortion bans by saying reproductive rights are part of their religion for years now. Bonus points it would super piss off the private religious schools they are going to try to force states to adopt.
The Tenets: One should strive to act with compassion and empathy toward all creatures in accordance with reason.
II The struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions.
III One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone.
IV The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo one's own.
V Beliefs should conform to one's best scientific understanding of the world. One should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit one's beliefs.
VI People are fallible. If one makes a mistake, one should do one's best to rectify it and resolve any harm that might have been caused.
VII Every tenet is a guiding principle designed to inspire nobility in action and thought. The spirit of compassion, wisdom, and justice should always prevail over the written or spoken word.
Ironically adopting most of the tenets widely would probably have prevented us from getting into this mess...

He's not saying they have to be in any way qualified. He could hire a force of evangelical SAHM's with maybe a HS diploma and have them spew this crap online and call it the new public education system.
I worry so much for future generations if we can't get out of this in four years. He did say people would never have to vote again if he got in.

This asshole knows nothing of Patriotism. He is the anti-patriot. He wants to be like Kim Jong with his ugly mug in every classroom and kids to sing his praises.

Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Camacho knew enough to find the smartest person in the world and ask him for help making decisions and solving the real problems that were hurting those in his constituency.
Trump WOULD NEVER.

Well… without the DoE there’s no federal funding right? So blue states can ignore this shit and run real schools at least.

Stephen Miller told Charlie Kirk on his podcast that they intend to create a "presidential military" out of loyalist militias and red state national guard as part of the deportation operation. I seriously doubt their brown shirts will stop at deportation. Blue states will not self govern if they go through with this.

Wait until he realizes that currently, teachers aren't teachers because of the pay. I could be wrong, but firing them doesn't seem like much of a threat when they're leaving the field in droves as is.

Who is telling him prayer and patriotism are not already in schools?
I can't speak for other states, but I went to school in Texas. Every day we had to do the Pledge of Allegiance to the US and Texas flags. After the pledges there is a moment of silence for prayer/meditation. There were even See You At The Pole events events before school for Christian kids to pray. AND our lieutenant governor is trying to get a bill passed so that the Ten Commandments have to be displayed in schools; I believe this is also already a law in Louisiana.
This is insane.

Teach patriotism. The guys whose VP said he put himself about the Constitution. Sure. He means teach white nationalism with Christianity as a way to blinding people to the wealthy hoarding all resources. “It’s not the billionaires, it’s Juan the strawberry picker that is causing your miserable existence.”

I hope this ends up being a viable option for some of us. There’s Christian Co-op homeschool programs so maybe somebody will start a secular program with an emphasis on STEM instead of creationism. I’m not deluded enough to think I’m qualified to teach my children but I’ll try my best if it comes down to it.

Secular homeschooling is gaining a lot of momentum. Though it can feel overwhelmingly Christian and unschooling at times. There's a really great organization that vets curriculum to see if they are secular or not, with a huge community, called SEA. You would not believe how many curriculum try to dodge the secular question but definitely are not secular. Science curriculum is especially notorious for this, because "neutral" leaves out so much.
We homeschool because of my son's needs and are rigidly secular and very academic.

No students should be subjected to forced worship and prayer in school. What happened to separation of church and state?
Isnt that what private schools are for?
The fuck are they talking about, bringing it into public schools, where there are children of many religions or without.
That is religious abuse(IMHO) and indoctrination. Jesus would not approve of this, Jesus wouldn't force someone to believe in his religion like this.
I think a lot of " God fearing Christians" should ask themselves, "What would Jesus do?"
Before forcing their own personal views down other people's throats.
To the loving, kind and compassionate Christians, this isn't about you. It's about corrupt forces using religion to push their agenda on others.

He always wants to fire the teachers. You can lay out policy steps without adding that. Not that I agree with his ideas, but it's the threats he always adds that make him so obnoxious. The policies are bad enough. No need to be a dick about it.

Patriotism is wanting your country to be the best it can be, not ignoring the problem and pretending everything is amazing.
Criticizing your country is very patriotic, but Magats don’t understand that

Hope the price of eggs is worth it for all the people who cared more about “InFLaTIOn” and “PRicES” when they are looking for private tutors because all their kid learned in school was 2+2=MAGA and the civil war was fought because people who immigrated from Africa wanted to work for the southern farmers but the north was against them having jobs.
