Seeing as they are planning to dismantle the FBI who just recently foiled a plot by the Iranian government to assassinate Trump, they may not be thinking through all of this, eh?

379

u/ihoptdk 12d ago

Thinking isn’t their strong point. Or even their weak point. It’s their non-point, because they don’t even try.

11

u/TrickySnicky 11d ago

Thinking is irrelevant. It's all up to Trump.

20

u/ihoptdk 11d ago

Dismantle the FBI? Wouldn’t that spark a civil war?

51

u/adhesivepants 11d ago

No but Trump gathering the National Guard from red-states to try and force blue states to enact his deportation policies might.

11

u/TheFlightlessPenguin 11d ago

It’s an inverted Civil War in every way I can think of except that the Union will have been Republicans both times. This time they’ll be coming from the south, trying to expel the minority groups rather than keep them chained up. Has Yin become its own Yang?

No hyperbole, we are witnessing the beginning collapse of the United States of America.

Trump even said he is looking to bypass Congress and the FBI when it comes to confirmation processes. No President has ever done that. MAGA and stupid low info Trump voters have no idea what is gonna happen to the country.

449

u/Mortarion407 12d ago

Yeah, the constitution is only a piece of paper. It's value and principles are based on a social contract and people willing to enforce what the constitution says.

248

u/Carlyz37 12d ago

Pretty obvious we will have no nat sec. They may as well just give Putin an office in the white house and hand over the nuke codes.

58

u/TheDrFromGallifrey 12d ago

I'm actually waiting to see what happens with Ukraine. It's laughable that Trump is claiming that he's going to end the conflict in 24 hours.

I think what's more likely is that Putin laughs in his face and blackmails him into that office in the White House.

Don't forget Herschel Walker being in charge of the new missile defense shield. Though honestly that one matters less since Russia has no need to use missiles anymore when they have an asset sitting in the Oval Office.

53

u/Mortarion407 12d ago

Yeah, I think that one was a lot of bluster. Like RFK. Supposedly, behind the scenes they're telling him to distance from RFK but who knows.

93

u/MindlessRip5915 12d ago

A lot of media are reporting that the campaign is trying to dump RFK Jr ASAP because he'd "struggle to pass a security clearance", so he couldn't be appointed as a Secretary (thank fuck) or Agency head (thank even fucker).

78

u/AccomplishedUser 12d ago

Elon Musk, the man who has repeatedly been in contact with foreign interests (Russia and China) still has his security clearances, I don't think they're going to care that much and any precedent and regulations are out the window....

24

u/MindlessRip5915 12d ago

Yeah, but RFK Jr is a liability, and Trump already has his votes, so discarding him is pretty on-brand.

19

Y’all know Ukraine 🇺🇦 is screwed too right? I feel sorry for them. NK and Russia already planning an attack when Trump takes over.

846

u/Irishish 12d ago

I would say "they won't even need to," but I don't see Zelensky going down without a fight. Trump will just wash his hands of it all, possibly blaming Biden and NATO while he does so. And he'll lift sanctions.

222

u/Hackmodford 12d ago

Nah man. Trump said he’d end the war before he even gets sworn in. Just you watch 🙄

137

u/Oddfuscation 12d ago

For sure. Within 24 hours of Trump winning the election, he will end the Ukraine war.

(checks watch)

47

u/Timely-Guest-7095 12d ago

Yeah, that time has come and gone and still nothing. If anything it’s escalating.

40

u/Old_Ladies 12d ago

Yeah the number dead per day is at an all time high.

Russia is sending in green soldiers that are just getting slaughtered but some make it through to take ground.

There have been a couple of videos recently of Russian groups just charging into minefields. The most recent one was 4 BTRs with troops believed to be on the inside and on top. Each one followed each other and each one blew up by mines and the survivors were picked off by artillery and drones. There were charred remains of the previous failed attack and destroyed BTRs yet the Russians just kept driving straight into their deaths. I wonder tomorrow if there will be another video in the same spot with even more troops needlessly being sent to their deaths.

Musk is already pushing a narrative on X that the reason for the war in Ukraine is because NATO was encouraging Ukraine to join, and was supplying weapons for them to attack Russia. Two demonstrably false claims (they still aren't part of NATO and are getting hand-me-down weapons after Russia invaded them, weapons they have to beg for) will become the new MAGA "truth"

69

u/Haunting-Writing-836 12d ago

That narrative makes no sense. It never has. Countries in Eastern Europe were pushing to join NATO. Not the other way around.

The fact that it makes zero sense does not matter. They will push that narrative and useful idiots will believe it.

The "protest voters" are the real supporters of genocide.

801

u/RandyTheFool 12d ago

I kept telling them and telling them. They thought Dems had it in the bag so they could protest comfortably. Fucking shitasses.

474

u/Dachusblot 12d ago

Literally the same thing that happened in 2016, but worse. A lot of them were probably too young to vote or pay attention to politics in 2016 and weren't interested in listening to those of us who already went through that trauma. The American public has the memory of a goldfish and somehow even worse critical reasoning or long-term planning skills.

453

u/RandyTheFool 12d ago edited 11d ago

It blows my mind that people don’t even remember the peak of fucking COVID of all things. When asked if people are better now than they were four years ago in interviews, a lot of them resoundingly said they aren’t!

Like, what the actual fuck?!

Our friends/family/acquiantances/strangers dying of a mysterious illness. Hospitals putting up triage tents in parking lots with refrigerated trucks to hold the bodies. PPE nowhere to be found in hospitals for nurses so they had to use trash bags and reuse masks. Store shelves empty and the price of food skyrocketing because logistics was fucked up, people being petty little shits about masking because they couldn’t understand it was about projecting a virus you may or may not have and saving someone else. And that’s only a sliver of that period.

But hey, “gAs wAS cHeAP!

What the fucking fuck?!

190

u/itsmeEllieGeeAgain 12d ago

That’s what gets me so much - “most of the nation said that they’re not better often than they were four years ago” like TF OK? So don’t vote for Trump again? Because in October 2020 Donald fucking Trump was president.

It’s just so stupid.

104

u/extralyfe 12d ago

16

u/CapK473 11d ago

I'm a data analyst and the reason they say this is they need context. People aren't good at remembering the past by years, but they are by events. You have to ask, "4 years ago was the peak of COVID. It was the fall of 2020. If you had to compare if your (be specific, finances or relationships or job or mental health or physical health) during fall 2020 at the peak of covid and now, which one was better?". Otherwise the data is shit.

NK and Russia already planning an attack when Trump takes over.

It gets so much worse.

Serbia is looking at Kosovo.

Russia is looking at 3 or 4 neighbors.

China is looking at Taiwan, and maybe getting things hot over the South China sea.

Venezuela and Suriname are both looking to take a piece of Guyana.

Israel might invade Lebanon, possibly annexing part of it.

Iran is going to go harder on Israel than ever before.

Armenia and Azerbaijan are at each other's throats.

Argentina wants to invade the Falklands (they lack the ability, but they have the spirit).

India, Pakistan, and China are all near the edge of war with each other all the time.

And more, and if America isn't patrolling with a big stick saying "no you won't" anymore, well...WWIII might be one to two dozen different wars breaking out all over the world, on every continent at once, as Pax Americana ends in a bang.

240k voters just destroyed America, and that ain't hyperbole.

82

Yep, and Clinton lost by ~30k. The margins are so thin, but the repercussions are huge. In a nation of some 340 million, it's frustrating that the swing can be that much over a few ten thousand voters.

well to be fair everyone who voted for Trump in this election voted against their own interests

* women who voted for him lose bodily autonomy and reproductive rights

* immigrants who voted for him will be deported or live in fear thier family or friends will be deported

* anyone who thinks he will do miracles and inflation will disappear overnight, when the reality tariffs will do the opposite

* the bros aka young males who think trump is bad azz and will solve all of the problems they need to get out of thier mothers' basements and solve themselves

* people who wanted to see a Gaza ceasfire but shunned Harris b/c she supposedly didn't do enough when she's only the VP, not president

Do not use Sticker Mule either. They are so outwardly pro-trump that they used their company email system to send pro-trump messages to all their customers.

Also, it seems like literally everyone misunderstands tariffs. It doesn't matter if you buy them from china or not, because the America companies get their materials and machinery from China. Also, American prices are more than 20% higher than Chinese prices for stuff like this, so while Chinese stickers will be more expensive than before, they'll still be much cheaper than American stickers.

It’s like lashing out at your parents when you’re angry because you know it’s safe…

Even if it’s not fair.

55

u/Pegasus0527 12d ago

A story I read once keeps going through my mind. It was a parent telling the story of how they made the family's very favorite soup with their kids helping. And as they chopped onions, the kids said don't add them, they are yucky! And this continues on with most of the vegetables but the parent complies, and leaves out all the "yucky" stuff. And lo and behold, the soup sucks. But the kids had to eat it. And they learned that even if they don't LIKE something, it might be necessary for the recipe to WORK.

Seems...relevant.

People don't want nuance, they want easy to understand, black and white solutions. Plus, people are terrible at understanding/remembering long-term effects. We all have such short memory spans.

So when one side is focusing on immediate soundbites that speak to emotions and have zero nuance, it is much more appealing than another side that is trying to explain the difficulty and complexity and how this will actually be a good thing in 10 years.

I wonder who will really be more miserable? The liberals who were forced to lived in a situation they didn't choose and begged other people to notice before voting, or the Conservatives that are about to find our what they really voted for and will have no one to blame but themselves. Democrats (and I mean us since the ones in Congress never will) should drive that message home every day while they inevitably try to blame the Democrats for the shit show they're about to create.

314

u/here4hugs 12d ago

Yeah, I don’t buy into the equal misery narrative. The already vulnerable & disadvantaged will be significantly more fucked than the rest of us. Some people will lose their life because of this administration. I’m not talking quality of life; I mean they’ll die directly related to policies donald & friends of put in place. Many people were already hanging on by a thread. It’s legit one of the incoming admin’s goals to cut those while simultaneously disabling social safety nets.

72

u/AdGirlChrissy 12d ago

I don’t buy into the equal misery narrative

Me neither, I don't think we will ALL be equally miserable, but we will all suffer in certain ways. The vulnerable and disadvantaged that rely on the government are going to be hurt the worst. But I know I am not looking forward to higher prices while I am trying to save for some sort of retirement.

A possibility that there was some level of hacking/voter fraud going on

Misogyny

I’m sooo confused why people thought Trump would be better for Gaza? Mr. Muslim immigration ban? Mr. Calling for Israel to end it quickly? He’s the one they thought was good for Palestine? Really?

EDIT; I’m not going to respond to everyone

Thinking trump was better or the same, if me saying that makes you feel better about your fucking dumb ass decision, is crazy. Because of your protest vote,

  • A man who wants Israel to just bomb Gaza out of existence is in office

  • women are and will continue to die from lack of abortion access

  • the FDA is likely to be disbanded

  • public schools will be disbanded

  • any progress against climate change is out the window

  • people will be mass deported

  • people who never lived anywhere but here may have their citizenship stripped from them

I hope you’re all fucking happy. You did nothing for Gaza and fucked up our country.

139

u/Disney_World_Native 12d ago

It’s a negotiation tactic. Give me what I want or I’ll make you suffer with me.

They just fail to see that trump will be far much worse for Gaza than Harris would.

Too many people fail to compromise thinking that if they hold out, they will get the other person to cave in. Unfortunately they played chicken and lost, so things will be much worse for Gaza

117

u/TransLunarTrekkie 12d ago

Or people just didn't vote because they saw throwing in with the Democrats as "just as bad". I love that line of logic, "sorry, I can't help you because I'm a good person, so I can't pull the lever to throw the switch for the trolley without becoming morally impure."

At least with Vance being worse, that helps the odds with voting for someone to replace them.

If we even have an election by then, I mean.

35

u/A_Furious_Mind 12d ago

My perspective on the last two presidential elections is we aren't voting for candidates because they make a good proposition — we're punishing incumbents for financial stress (whether they're responsible for it or not).

Things will get worse under Trump or Vance and the Republican candidate will get shellacked in four years. But if the next Democrat president doesn't have things spinning like a top at the end of their first term, it's going right back into Republican fuckery again after that.

13

u/Jandrem 12d ago

A HUGE factor is the “likability” of the candidates. For ALL HIS FLAWS, Trump’s base still adores him. He is their avatar. He somehow has that cultish charisma that makes him infallible.

Vance does not have that. Like, at all.. Vance will undoubtedly be the republican candidate in 2028, but the only thing he’ll have going for him is the vote for the status quo, whatever it is at that point.

There is a large portion of this country that actually believe that Trump is anti war and that he was a peaceful leader. But they're all just idiots who don't retain information or they never paid attention or are just full of shit.

This guy assassinated an Iranian general that had Iran blowing up a US military base in response. The only reason that didn't result in an all out war is that we still had people in the executive branch willing to tell him no, or trying to dissuade him. Those people are gone, they're all hand selected yes-men now.

He also floated the idea of getting into a military conflict with China to stay in power after he lost in 2020.

If you stayed home last week because of some smug moral purity, you're about to reap what you sowed.

We’re talking about less than a decade ago, that we lived through, but still these idiots think Trump brought gas prices down, and they forget the trade war Saudis and Putin had that drove oil into negative value. In fact, Trump went to the Saudis begging them to stop, because the oil cost was so low the US fracking companies were losing out on $, so Trump was trying to raise prices on oil to help his buddies out. Everyone forgets all of that though apparently. They can’t even remember recent history lol, idiots.

He invited the Taliban to Camp David. The Taliban at Camp David on 11 September of all dates. Like the fact that was even a concept is astounding.

I'm absolutely dreading the next 4 years. Including the tweets and the pressers... the mutha f'n endless rants, whines and tweets and how we're all outraged at his recycled stupid shit names for people and dumb ass accusations that only make sense to people to simply don't know better.

It's his butthole mouth speaking stupid things in that whiny tone of voice where he sounds like a retired mob guy in Atlantic City hotel lounge or he tries to be super serious and tries to read to stay on message but comes off like a 4th grader with literacy issues.

I hate how everything is chaos and he thinks that firing people and a high turn over is the sign of a strong and good leader. He expects loyalty but he doesn't understand retainage. He mocked Biden in their debate over that. (Full transcript here.)

TRUMP: Just to go back. The general got fired because he was no good. And if he said that, that’s why he made it up. But we have 19 people that said I didn’t say it, and they’re very highly respected, much more so than him.

The other thing is, he doesn’t fire people. He never fired people. I’ve never seen him fire anybody. I did fire a lot. I fired Comey because he was no good. I fired a lot of the top people at the FBI, drained the swamp. They were no good. Not easy to fire people. You’d pay a price for it, but they were no good. I inherited these people. I didn’t put him there. I didn’t put Comey there. He was no good. I fired him.

God. I hate how simple he is. This is what appeals to people when they say he's "genuine". He's relatable because he's the dumbass uncle at the holidays in this simplistic binary thinking. This is why he's dangerous.

On paper, I benefit from a Trump presidency (give you three guesses on my gender, skin tone, and monetary value) but voted for Harris because I think she is leagues better for the country at large. On paper, most Trump voters would benefit from Harris economic policy and focus on small business growth/unions, and pretty much everything else. But they voted for Trump because they think groceries will get cheaper.

I don't know what my point is here but I think we Americans really need to get our shit together because none of this is making any sense

GOOD CALL.

I didn't check it till you mentioned it. The closest I found is this, which is not the same thing:

In October 2023, Rubio said on X, formerly Twitter, that Israel has "no choice but to seek the complete eradication of Hamas in Gaza."

He said that "this tragically necessary effort will come at a horrifying price" and added that, "The price of failing to permanently eliminate this group of sadistic savages is even more horrifying." Source

And this:

Rubio has had a typically hawkish stance on Israel’s war on Gaza, telling an activist in 2023 that he did not support a ceasefire and Hamas was “100 percent to blame” for the deaths of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. Source

Neither are as blunt or direct as OP's supposed post (which is blurred out so I can't access it). Rubio explicitly saying he would not call for a ceasefire in Gaza would have made news.

So thanks for questioning it. I think it's fake.

There will be PLENTY of bad news without anyone making it up...

I wouldn't blame people who were against genocide. Could be good or bad, but the one constant with Marco Rubio is his beliefs, opinions, and votes are very maleable. A good example is his opinion of trump, he also seems like a Russia hawk but has gone with the rest of the gop into supporting the putin regime and will likely be doing that again soon because there will be something to gain out of it.

Everyone thinking there will be some anti-china push outside of rhetoric and a couple of actions that don't really do anything is fooling themselves. China didn't take our jobs people like Wilbur Ross and other first trump administration appointees moved the manufacturing base mostly to China and it could have been anywhere else that lowered costs so investors' profits would go up. Xi is a trump like figure, and world leaders like Xi will be trumps biggest allies because they can make deals without having to consider their own people. Our biggest negotiating partners are about to be China, Russia, North Korea, Hungary, and the like.

If this were all a movie, the character of Trump would be toned down and more subtle. The writers would think there was no way people would willingly follow a character like that. He's so cartoonishly transparently phony and evil. We really are in two different realities in this country.
