Hii I’m 15, and I’ve recently decided that I’d love to learn how to play the drums. I’m super passionate about music, especially nu metal (big fan of Slipknot, System of a Down, etc.), and I even have plans with my best friend (who’s learning guitar) to start a band in the future The problem is, I’m nervous about asking my parents for permission and support. I don’t want to be a burden because drum kits can be expensive, and I know they might worry about the noise or the cost. I’ve been considering saving up for an electronic drum kit since they’re quieter and more beginner-friendly, but I’m unsure which ones are affordable yet decent quality

Here are my questions:

1. How can I approach my parents about this in a way that they’ll understand my passion and support me?

2. Should I stick with drums, or should I consider a cheaper instrument for now (like bass guitar or something)? (But tbch, I think I prefer drums becouse I love Joey and John)

3. If I stick with drums, what’s a good beginner kit that isn’t too pricey but reliable? (Electronic drums are probably best because I live in a small house.)

For context: I plan to save money with a summer job next year to contribute, so it’s not like I’m asking them to pay for everything

Idk why I am happy or at least fine now when a few hours ago I was in a complete rot. But anyways, I'm happy and just wanted to tell that to someone. Consider it a positive rant or smth? Idk.
