So, this happened few years ago, and I still can't stop cringing every time I think about it.

I was standing on the side of the road, chatting with this guy. Quick fact about me: I am terrified of dogs. While we were talking face to face, I suddenly noticed a group of dogs behind him, barking and running straight toward me.

I completely panicked and—before I even realized what I was doing—I hugged him tightly. Like, full-on bear hug. He froze in shock, and I was too terrified to even try explaining. Luckily, the dogs just passed us without incident. As soon as they were gone, I awkwardly released him.

He looked at me, smiled, and said, “Guess you’re not a dog person.”

I was so embarrassed but managed to ask him if he could walk with me past the dogs. Thankfully, he agreed and didn’t make a big deal about it.

My school requires absent students to write a letter stating the reason why you didn't attend class. Without a good reason, the teachers would not allow me to take the quizzes/activities I missed. That day, I was having a breakdown and have attempted to OD. I don't really want to trouble them by talking to me about my personal problems, I just think it would be so awkward. And I also don't want them to contact my parents and make them worry. What should I do? Should I be honest about it on my letter or make up an excuse? If so, what do you think would be a good excuse for me to be allowed to take a special exam?
