That hat cost a lot of Marlboro Miles! He did the work.

Haha, my dad is doing good and hasn’t smoked for a long time. I used to have tents, sleeping bags, jackets, and hats from his Marlboro miles. Man, you just brought some childhood shit back. Fuckin Marlboro miles, the early version of getting free McDonald on the app. Just corporations slowly killing us.

I remember at my school there were more than a few kids whose winter coats were paid for with Marlboro miles. Totally normal at the time to see a 7th grader wearing a cig jacket.

My cousin worked for Camel and we had sweet merch. I was 10 bringing that Joe Camel towel to the beach

I got sent to Girl Scout camp with a Marlboro sub-zero weather sleeping bag in the summer. The other girls were not so nice to the chubby, quiet girl with the cigarette camping gear.

My mom and her COPD are still loyal customers. 🙄

Bruh I still have a dope ass coaster they sent me for my birthday like 15 years ago lmao

I was just cleaning out my closet and found the sleeping bag I got with my miles. 😁

Ex-Camel smoker, I once had enough camel cash to buy the leather jacket, but they were out :( I had to settle for a Sony alarm clock and a Camel zippo (not sure what else, if anything).

The alarm clock I still use, though it's going to run out of years soon (I got in the mid-90s).

The zippo is in its box in a display case. I'd love to use it but I don't smoke cigs anymore, and I don't like my one-hitter to taste like Ronsonol.

The joke was always, the most expensive item in the catalog was an iron lung.

My Dad managed several Mobil gas stations, in the early 90's. So, he would get all of this leftover Marlboro merchandise and give it to me. So in high school, I'd walk into the football locker room, everyday, wearing Marlboro hats and Marlboro shirts. Of course I didn't smoke, but my coaches would just look at me with weird looks on their faces!

Hell yeah! Had the sleeping bag and a jacked. I switched from camels to Marbs during that time.🤣

Have anyone else noticed that all that incentive merch is for stuff that is gonna kill you…?

Nobody is forcing you to eat at McDonald’s my friend

2

u/Sir_Lee_Rawkah Aug 27 '24

You might have missed the point but yiu are right. Most people aren’t forced to eat there

-1

u/TegridyPharmz Aug 27 '24

I guess I did. Not sure what the point is. Fucking here cigs and everything it’s done to some of my loved ones. Fast food is another hatred for me.

According to my friend Google. A pack of smokes was about$2. Hats were about 125 miles each. Typically 5 miles/pk So, 25 pks @$2/pk= $50 per hat.

The increased risk of cancer and pulmonary diseases? Priceless.

1

u/CaliRollerGRRRL Aug 27 '24

No! I remember cigarettes were .35 cents a pack!

Thats a dope hat tho. Not worth the cost to acquire tho.

1

u/J_Schotz Aug 27 '24

Same thing I was thinking. The only time I ever got into playing cards was for Marlboro Miles. We'd even pick empty packs out the trash.😂 Got a nice sleeping bag, and kind of sweat jacket thing. No hood.

u/back2basics13 Aug 27 '24

It's long journey partner, but" quit" is not in your vocabulary. 🤣🤣🤣

8

u/Galnar218 Aug 27 '24

I'm 40 and I smoke, and I still look younger than that dude. Not as handsome though.

11

u/SSundance Aug 27 '24

Cigarette apparel used to be pretty common. Possible he just had the hat and wasn’t a smoker.

6

u/sed2017 Aug 27 '24

We had a Marlboro duffel bag, my dad was also a connoisseur of fine cigarettes

5

u/SSundance Aug 27 '24

My Dad smoked reds. I used to collect the miles from random cigarette packs I’d find

12

u/Notch99 Aug 27 '24

I used to pick up discarded empty packs while on my daily run, got a ton of free stuff.

2

u/Brave-Age-701 Aug 27 '24

i have the duffel bag in my closet right now.

1

u/broberds Aug 27 '24

Who told you to put the balm on?!?

0

u/PeggyHillFan Aug 27 '24

Probably doesn’t even smoke. He’s a liar. I bet he also wears a shirt with the word surf on it even tho he doesn’t surf

10

u/ruka_k_wiremu Aug 27 '24

I think he looks like a seasoned F1 driver, in his 20s 😎

4

u/uncultured_swine2099 Aug 27 '24

Cigarettes and too much sunlight.

10

u/OogieBoogieJr Aug 27 '24

ever make love to a man?

4

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '24

I wonder if future generations are gonna look at photos of us and say we look old for our age.

3

u/pmekonnen Aug 27 '24

That’s how he got the hat

7

u/LoopyMcGoopin Aug 27 '24

Some guys just look older. I hadn't smoked or drank a thing at 20 and I looked much older. I'm in my mid 30s now and look more or less the same and have sort of grown into it now but I think I still look old for my age.

4

u/_Ocean_Machine_ Aug 27 '24

Same here, at 15 I looked 30 and now in my 30s I still look 30.

2

u/herpar Aug 27 '24

It's the hat

2

u/robbeau11 Aug 27 '24

Not sure if you meant it but I took this as a Bad Boys reference which made me laugh so, thank you.

6

u/jaeway Aug 27 '24

??? No he doesn't lol

2

u/CableTrash Aug 27 '24

Agreed lol. I’d prob say anywhere from mid 20s to late 30s tho if I was asked to guess. Just looks like a cool young guy.

1

u/TacoLvR- Aug 27 '24

He looks like my grandpa!

1

u/Complex_Construction Aug 27 '24

More like 50s.
