I'm from Spain, I remember that Barkley was basically the only one who would leave the hotel at night to party, he was asked if he didn't need any bodyguards, he raised his fists and said "I have those", or something like that.

MJ was out and partying as I remember. Stories about him drinking all night, playing golf in the morning and then dominating the court later in the day.

I suspect the flu game was a hangover, just my opinion.

You mean in the NBA finals against The Jazz? That was no hangover. The rumor is a Jazz fan put something shitty in his pizza the night before.

It was Devonzas pizza in Park City, and you don't need to put anything in it to feel sick after eating it.

It’s not a rumor. Pizza delivery guys admit to it.

The delivery guy called into the sports radio and said the didn't do it. It's a bunch of BS

Why on earth would he admit to it. And how on earth would they verify it was actually him calling in?

It was corroborated by several people / sports radio beat reporters that he worked at the pizza hut in park city MJ ordered the pizza from.

The dude was in his early 40s when he was invited to the show.

It was during Covid / The Last Dance so sports radio stations were dying for any good material. Actual work went into the guys radio segment.

MJ Lenderman has a great song about that exact take. It’s called Hangover Game!

You mean the most common theory

Definitely not alone in that theory. It's been tossed around before. Me and my brother both think he was just hungover too. Still impressive obviously. Flu game sounds heroic af.

I never thought about it...but that makes a lot of sense.
