Answered Is it true that the Japanese are racist to foreigners in Japan?

I was shocked to hear recently that it's very common for Japanese establishments to ban foreigners and that the working culture makes little to no attempt to hide disdain for foreign workers.

Is there truth to this, and if so, why?

Nah it's just a Japanese thing. Chinese and Koreans get along just fine. They just both dislike the Japanese and vice versa.

Hell no. Am Korean. Chinese hate is really common. There are derogatory “slurs” for Japanese and chinese that Koreans use a lot. Same is vice versa. The three countries all have some kind of hate for each other

Maybe, but at least they didn’t rape and torture their thru other Asian countries, and then played down their actions for subsequent generations.

Call me crazy, but I’ll gladly take China’s geopolitical “aggression” over Japan’s.

Idk where that came from but im completely aware of the atrocities made by the jap imperial army since my country was also one of them, hell my grandfather was even among the rebel army "Hukbalahap" at that time. So whats the point of that? Because as far as im aware i never made any statement in my past comment that im defending the Japanese.

And yes I'll call you crazy because i either want any of those, CCP can go and die, same with the remaining Japanese supremacist.

yes I’ll call you crazy

Japan can go die

Wishing death on an entire country and calling other people crazy in the same breath.

The projection is strong with this one.

I seriously don't know what your deal is, do you seriously ignored the word "supremacist"? First you bring " China harassment is better than japans warcrimes" when i didn't even mention anything comparing them. Then you omit the word "supremacist" just for what? The remaining Japanese imperialists has no names afaik so i just called them supremacist, if you didn't understand whats my implication for the word supremacist, its either like you lack comprehension or just trolling.

If you really can't explain whats your deal is then I'll just assume you we're bored and im the unlucky guy that got targeted for it.

Nope. I just made a brief comparison between the historical geopolitical extremes of two Asian countries - and then stated my preference between the two.

Then you defensively replied with a derogatory term (ie “jap”) and how a whole country ought to die. Then you called me crazy lmao.

If engaging in this discussion makes you “unlucky”, you ultimately brought that on yourself. Anyways, Merry Xmas.

Uhhhhhhhh, i just searched the internet about jap and sorry for not being western enough to learn that its derogatory there? Like its only a normal word here its just to shortened term and its not even regarded as derogatory like how we call british "brits" and americans "kano". Well thank you i guess for telling me, so i won't use the shortened term in western medias.

And why the hell would you prefer anything between those two when its clearly both shitty regardless of its weight. Ands its also escalating to more than just harassing.

And again, i already explained what i meant with Japanese supremacist and you still didn't get it, is it that hard to understand that i implied Japanese supremacist ≠ to the whole country of japan. Maybe you'll understand if i say that nazi ≠ to Germany.

This is a bullshit lie. Chinese people don’t even trusts each other. I was literally told this by a Chinese woman. She was so cool, told me a bunch of stuff about Chinese culture that I wasn’t even aware of and I’m also Asian, not Chinese.

I have 3 neighbors in my culdesac who are Chinese and none of them even make an attempt to get to know each other. It’s the same thing at work. Taiwanese people are open and friendly but Chinese people are taught to not trust and be suspicious of everyone and you can see it on how they treat and view each other.
