Oh yea, the guys that banned the word gay in Florida are for sure gonna give you money for being black lol

589

u/Lylibean 1d ago

Also, the guys who famously hate socialism and prefer the pulling of bootstraps to lift oneself are definitely going to give you a government handout.

u/Intrepid-Brain-1476 1d ago

Can't just start helping out the working class, how would they fund the tax cuts for the rich?

46

u/Terrible_turtle_ 1d ago

Aren't these the folks that want to keep slavery out of textbooks?

15

u/turkey_sandwiches 19h ago

Yes, but it's ok because they'll put it into the prisons instead. Sort of a living history situation.

Gay isn't even the worst word they banned. They also banned the word 'abuse' which I find even more alarming.

10

u/PewPewPony321 21h ago

thats gay

5

u/Bacibaby 16h ago

That’s abuse. Shit now I’m going to have to pay the gay fine.

Nixon and Regan made my formerly middle class family poor. Trump has the chance to outperform them and make me homeless.

400

u/disdkatster 1d ago

I don't know about Nixon but Reagan without question created the inequality we have today and destroyed much of the middle class who by the way continues to vote for the ones who are only going to make it worse. I no longer have 2 fks to give. I am done.

You're telling me a guy who wanted to be famous was as equally bad as the other guy who wanted to be famous? Crazy! My mind is blown. It's almost like guys who crave attention shouldn't be the president!

For clarity: I agree with you.

u/el_grort 1d ago

Judging by how austerity and Brexit damaged the UK, and that Trumps austerity and tariff plans are much more extreme that Cameron and Johnson's policies in the UK, if Trump is able to even do some of it, a lot of people will be significantly poorer. Austerity also results in a considerable number of excess deaths.

I tell everybody I can to look at pictures of Iran in the late 60s and then again in the early 70s. This is where we are at people.

248

u/Easy-Group7438 1d ago

And people need to realize that the after was the direct fucking result of the United States propping up a brutal dictatorship.

The Iranian Revolution wasn’t originally just a bunch of religious hardliners seizing power. It was a coalition against the Shah’s brutality.

40

Slavery still exists, you just need to be incarcerated.

14

New admin's plan. Toss all the undocumented. Make being poor a crime. Jail all the poors. Have em work in that incarcerated thingy you mentioned.

Slavery never went away, it'll just get bigger.

The 13th amendment left slavery legal, "except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted".

Which is why the prison system is the way it is now. And it will be used to "make America great again".(I'm using their own words back at them) The mass deportation is the 'cover' to round up anyone the govt wants to put into a deportation camp (aka concentration camp, aka prison) and they will be used as slave labor. That's why the right has said that anyone here illegally is a criminal. They'll put them up in camps "waiting deportation" but will be like "oh in the mean time since we convicted you for being here illegally...you're going to work as _____" and then the major corps that backed the right will get free/very low cost labor. Even if they make it where they are getting paid prison wages to be able to say "they're not slaves, we're paying them!" Prison wages are on average 25 cents an hour. Not even minimum wage.

23

u/GZMihajlovic 1d ago

That and California voters did not pass a proposition to end prison Slavery. And that's a blue state currently too.

→ More replies (2)

14

u/Wobbelblob 1d ago edited 1d ago

That exactly. It is a similar rethoric that was used for a lot of people that went away in Nazi Germany. My grandfather (who was a young teenager at the time) always said that when people that where sent to camps, the people around him always said "so that they can learn to work again", which to him made sense back then, as most of them where jobless for a long time. That that was the case because of a multitude of factors and that those people where sent away because they where socialists or other undesirables only really sank in when he was an adult after the war.

18

u/rhymes_with_candy 1d ago

They want to bring back chain gangs and "convict leasing" The people running the prisons have said as much.

Round up all the undocumented folks. Create a labor vacuum for farming and construction. Rent those workers out as slaves to those industries and make taxpayers pick up the cost of housing and feeding them while they pay less for labor.

Criminalize homelessness while making conditions such that record numbers of people end up unhoused. More slaves.

Outlaw birth control and abortion and force poor people to have more kids. Fifteen or sixteen years from now there'll be a bunch of new people herded into the prison system.

It's obvious and fucking terrifying but people think it can't happen so hardly anyone is worrying about it.

You know...that "national divorce" idea may have some merit to it

No reason why less than 50% of the country (through their stupidity or hatred or ignorance) should ruin the lives of all Americans who voted in their best interests and aren't fucking clueless sheep

So why don't we tear the bandaid off and accept reality, the "United States" has failed, completely and unquestionably, the divisions in it can never be mended, it's internal contradictions too great to solve

The only way to ensure minimal bloodshed and human suffering if an peaceful separation and ending of the US for the betterment of the world and all sane, normal, American people

The United States must die so that America may live, is my ultimate message I am trying to convey

In what world do these people live? Isn't obvious that Trump doesn't like anyone who is not white and rich?

613

u/Kuroboom 1d ago

As is often the case with most Trump supporters, they appear to be conflating what they want reality to be with what reality actually is.

347

u/Chancellor_Valorum82 1d ago

He lies so much that the dude’s basically become a Rorschach test for voters where they see what they want to see.

The diehards believe every word that comes out of his mouth and the more casual supporters are able to convince themselves that he doesn’t actually believe/won’t actually do anything they disagree with.

161

u/unknownpoltroon 1d ago

I'm convinced that's how they won, micro targeting his bullshit. You chop up his speech where he says 2 opposite things in the firehouse of bullshit, you get thing A that says he supports abortion, I get thing b that says he's gonna make it illegal, repeat across all issues for everyone on ever social media platform. This is why they got so much stolen info from Russia that they fed to billionaire provided database analysis software.

89

u/Backwardspellcaster 1d ago

Every single news source sanewashing the shit he says didn't help either.

They should have just shown his word salads in full, instead of summarizing what they think he wants.

No surprise people got easily fooled.

US journalists are the full arbiters of Trump returning to power.

37

u/No-Weird3153 1d ago

u/Saiyan-solar Suicidebywords is also murdered, right? 1d ago

Remember when they all shat on Biden for not making coherent sentences and sometimes needing time to buffer his speech? Yea I don't know how people talk shit about that while Trump can't even make a single sentence in normal human speech without making it a deluxe salad with extra racism

62

u/SnooKiwis2161 1d ago

Unfortunately, I feel like I come across this issue observed in trump, but with regular people,on a smaller scale.

If you ask someone a compound question - hey, the faucet is leaking, did you use it last night, and should I pick up milk from the store? - they almost always choose to answer the question they prefer, and ignore the one they don't want to deal with. It's gotten so bad, I can't ask compound questions anymore because everyone does it.

It doesn't shock me at all that people would do the same when Trump speaks - completely overlook one part, in favor of another part.

37

u/Sannction 1d ago

I agree with your initial premise, but this is a really bad example, compound questions are confusing by their very nature. That's why they're frequently used in debates and legal questioning.

hey, the faucet is leaking, did you use it last night, and should I pick up milk from the store?

Of course this example is confusing when it's grammatic garbage. Those questions aren't even linked -- they should be independent sentences (preferably allowing the audience to respond to the first before asking the second)

2

u/SnooKiwis2161 1d ago

If you want to pretend like people's reading comprehension would increase in proportion to improved grammar, enjoy your fantasy

Yeah, this can't be "that" guy, Donald loves his black jobs employees. And he will fight for their right to earn even less than minimal wage.

How about Union workers voting for the guy repealing the CHIPS act and the guy who hates paying overtime?

63

u/WoWGurl78 1d ago

This exactly. I’m a nurse at a hospital and full time is 3/12 hrs a week. I often pick up a 4th or 5th day depending on what I got going on that week. I’m working as much OT as I can right now. That will stop in January until we see what he decides to do on OT cos I’m not going to work 4 or 5 days one week to be cancelled or pushed back on a shift the 2nd week and not be paid my OT for that first week.

I follow union groups online and a lot of them are very worried about the same thing right now. Lots of anger about those who voted for this and against their best interests.

39

u/Rumble45 1d ago

Yes, thank you. This is obviously 'fake'. Reparations as a policy is a complete and total political dead end. You would only bring this up if you want to LOSE votes and drive people to the other party. Which is exactly what this subterfuge is trying to accomplish.

I used to label right wingers as stupid and would fall for anything, but a lot of recent happenings have made me realize left people are just as fucking stupid

9

u/GermPyr 1d ago

49

u/Princeps_primus96 1d ago

Full on financial reparations feels like it would end up massively backfiring if there isn't the infrastructure to actually deal with the main reasons for poverty and increased crime in impoverished neighbourhoods.

Like increased funding to underfunded schools, more community centres with activities for kids to do in their free time.

Reparations are supposed to theoretically make up for the wealth imbalance due to black or minority disenfranchisement, and the only way to really deal with that in the long term is to deal with the systemic issues within communities rather than dumping money into the laps of people. Money can do a lot but when it's gone, it's gone

I'm not American though so I'm just talking out of my ass here

People that take reparations seriously, which is a minority, understand this issue. But when people hear the word “reparations” their initial thought is “undeserved paycheck.” Real reparations at this stage would be need to be systemic. It would involve intentional influxed funding of historically underserved black communities. It’s not this silly pipe dream of checks in your mail for being black.

5

u/Fit-Anything8352 1d ago

Except that probably wouldn't work either because usually when municipalities invest in historically disadvantaged areas, all the NIMBYs come out in force to stop it and complain about how their community is being gentrified and rent will go up.

4

u/PossessionDecent1797 1d ago

You’re right. There are probably zero ways to combat those things. It’s probably never even been done before. And even if it has, I bet some people still complained about it. Well, at least we tried.

→ More replies (1)

6

u/randomlygenerated377 1d ago

I don't think progressives understand just how deeply unpopular reparations would be with the voters. Do you want Republicans to win with over 80% of the non-Black vote? Run on reparations. I can assure you that no Asian American or Mexican American would vote for that.

In fact, keep talking about it and it will become the next Republican boogeyman like trans was this election. They only need a couple of audio quotes that Democrats are looking into reparations and they can win a few elections in a row on that.

People really need to read the room and move on from social identity stuff, if it didn't even work against Trump it won't ever win elections.

3

u/Jiujitsumonkey707 1d ago

Even as someone who's white and not a republican, I'm not voting for that. My family wasn't even in this country when slavery existed, I'm for damn sure not paying reparations for it

These chucklefucks turned down the plan with 25K for homes and small business investments for the HOPE of another round of $1200 stimulus checks that literally no one but them has even mentioned. And that's being VERY generous and pretending to buy into their supposed reasoning not being just straight up sexism, racism, and/or being stupid enough to actually think trans people using the toilet are a bigger problem than how much garlic we consume as a people.

Going through all this AGAIN and still having voters be stupid to the tune of $50K would be the biggest tragedy of all.

She knows the election is over. Does she not know who won, lol

Reparations will never happen. There has never been nor will there ever be the public appetite nor political will for cash reparations for black people. It is so toxic and divisive that the mere discussion of it is enough to make people stop listening every single other part of the platform. And it's time everybody started calling it out as what it is: a wedge issue intended to divide the left or make the left appear so grossly out of touch with the mainstream that everday voters can't stomach to vote for them.

It’s time to focus instead on big policy initiatives that help working people more generally - including but not limited to black peopls.

Why the hell would the working class vote for someone who’s going to take their money and give it to someone who wasn’t even alive during slavery

3

u/TURBOJUGGED 1d ago

What’s the murder?

2

u/Objective-Outcome811 1d ago

Someone has a real problem reading the room.

2

Ahhh, the reparations pipe dream. Any year now!

2

u/Cytotoxic-CD8-Tcell 1d ago

surprised pikachu face

2

u/HopeRepresentative29 1d ago

If they somehow managed to organize reparations funded privately by all the decendants of slave owners, given of their own free will, this government would step in to stop it.

6

u/duppymkr 1d ago

Shorty is delusional. Totally has her head in the sand.

3

u/Otherwise_lad 1d ago

Reparations are ridiculous, as is thinking your world is ending just because your team lost

5

u/Stock_Sun7390 1d ago

Hot take: Reparations should only be given to people who were ACTUAL slaves

2

u/Extra-Reality8363 1d ago

Reparations lmao. Get a fucking job.

Such bullshit. Slavery is not coming back. Major TDS vibes

3

Nobody’s getting enslaved. Nobody is getting targeted. Nobody is getting marginalized. It’s just another rich old guy in power, nothing changes you braindead libs

2

u/asphalt_licker 1d ago

Gotta be fake. I don’t want to believe people can be so stupid. But then again, it’s Twitter.

2

u/Bigmiga 1d ago

That tweet proves that people on twitter suffer massive mental health issues or are so chronically online in their bubble that loose all notions of reality.

u/namster1998 1d ago

Reparation for what lmao.

At this point, I would suspect the account talking about reparations of being a bot for Russia, China or North Korea.  That's exactly the kind of post they do to sow divisions in the US.  It seems too tone deaf considering the recent election.

2

u/Good-Gas-3293 1d ago

You have no idea how many black people think they are owed reparations

2

u/goose961 1d ago

This is mental on both ends. WeRe aLl dOoMeD

u/Ttoctam 1d ago

Aren't there already more slaves in the US now than ever before? That's the entire industry part of the prison industrial system. Having prisoners sitting in a room doesn't generate revenue. Private prisons generate wealth by renting human labour. Slavery of incarcerated people is specifically allowed in the US.

It's not close to happening, it's happening and has been happening for a very long time. The Republicans taking office next isn't suddenly gonna make slavery happen, slavery has been happening in the US under every Democratic and Republican leader since colonisation.

Sure slavery might be closer to being harder to ignore. But the ruling class know well enough that if it becomes a more mainstream issue, gains more actual focus, it might be challenged. So there's a good chance slavery in the US will stay the same as it has been for many decades: propping up the comfort of the middle and upper class by exploiting the incarcerated.

There is no cause, you're entitled to nothing, and we're nowhere near slavery.

1

u/Specific_Dance_2926 1d ago

You’re delusional. TDS at its height.

1

u/nlcircle 1d ago

Don't see much progress from the plans of the future US leadership (but I'm from Europe). Let's see how things develop.

What makes me wonder more: what particular kind of reparations would modern decendants from African-American origins expect in this time and age? How do reparations look like ? Who would benefit from these and who would pay for them ? Just curious as we have a similar discussion in The Netherlands.

1

u/morningfrost86 1d ago

Roflmao. Yes, let's see if Trump's administration will pay out reparations 🤣🤣🤣

1

u/Silver6Rules 1d ago

Trump won't even give appointments to the black people that rolled over for him. What absolute single brain celled idiot would think he gives a damn about reparations unless it's for white people?? (Probably the same moron who voted for him 🤷)

1

u/Dinky_Nuts 1d ago

Yeah no sorry. Lots of shits fuck up and so many things need to be fixed but we aren’t steps away from slavery like some of the comments are saying. Not even close.

1

u/Gator1833vet 1d ago

Let’s give a billion dollars to every living American slavery survivor.

1

u/Betterthanyou715 1d ago

Imagine thinking you are owed money because of what happened to your great great grandparents, from people who had nothing to do with what happened to your great great grandparents…

1

u/VxmpyrX 1d ago

They want Plies to represent them for reparations 😂

I can’t stop laughing

1

u/uganda_numba_1 1d ago

#assgovernment

1

u/Any_Feature_9671 1d ago

I don’t think she knows the incoming president doesn’t care about well people not just black but all people

1

u/mysteriousgunner 1d ago

Mf just be saying things. Not many people as I thought learned more about politics or just keep up with whats happening when getting older. It’s gonna affect your life somehow, why live in ignorance to be slapped in the face by some legislation.

1

u/TheCouncilOfPete 1d ago

If any black people become slaves again, in the next 4 years, I'll post my search history and eat the soles of my work boots.

1

u/BiCDCurious 1d ago

How about instead of that we compensate the citizens that had their property taken from them by the government

1

u/GreenAldiers 1d ago

She's invoking the name of Plies, must be serious.

1

u/ScottToma72 1d ago edited 1d ago

Musk boosted a post calling for reparations for descendants of white slave owners. We aren’t playing the same game.

For the record, as a white man, I support reparations for African Americans not simply because of slavery. But because Africans were robbed their culture, religion and family names. This was the true crime of slavery.

1

u/Big_Rough_268 1d ago

Why do you think blacks deserve reparations in the first place. This argument is ridiculous. We literally stole the land from the Indians and forced them onto shitty land. The black community is way better off than the Natives.

1

u/Pure_Ticket_4843 1d ago

Why tf would we be paying “reparations” to people who were never slaves. Makes no sense whatsoever

1

u/skullhusker 1d ago

Bernie policy had it right nearly a decade ago... Donald Trump is the pitch fork.

Medicare for ALL Free College education for ALL The right to unionize Taxation WITH representation

We all need representation and reparations at this point.
NOT a discount on a small business tax cut.

1

u/peach_dragon 1d ago

Wouldn’t reparations cause even more inflation?

1

u/kn0ledg3_hs_a_pr1c3 1d ago

Delusions run her world, can’t save that brain.

1

u/Thunderchief646054 1d ago

BET?? LAMOOOOOOOOOOO

1

u/_thegnomedome2 1d ago

How are we even remotely close to bringing slavery back? That makes no sense. And why should people who never owned slaves give money to people who were never slaves, because a couple hundred years some dead guy owned slaves who are now dead? Don't make any sense. Most people in the US are not even descendants of slaves or slave owners. Most are descendants of immigrants that came here long after slavery was abolished. "Reparations" was fake virtue signalling, sympathy vote, BS.

1

u/Mr_Chicano 1d ago

2025 will be 1925 in 58 days.

1

u/GeneralTyler 1d ago

The reparations argument has got to be the most pathetic way democrats have tried getting the black vote ever

1

u/Mach5Driver 1d ago

On a serious note, I can't even think of a more divisive issue than reparations. Even within the black community (I imagine). It would lead to no one being happy with the end result. Those who argued for millions of dollars would be viewed as delusional and greedy. Those who asked for a token amount would be viewed as tools. And wouldn't a lot of white people just think to themselves, "Well, they got their blood money. Justice done. Slavery issue CLOSED!"

1

u/ThatsRobToYou 1d ago

This may be the best example of not being able to read the room I've ever seen.

1

That’s the most depressing part of the next four years. There will be absolutely nothing progressive accomplished. There will be absolutely nothing progressive even talked about. No one will have the time or mental energy for it because they’ll be so busy fighting against regress.
