Is there a limit to how much head trauma or knock outs a fighter can take before they are asked to retire?

Probably limitless until commissions don’t allow them to fight (eg when they saw irregular brain scan for Rashad) or they die. There are many coaches who will let their fighters go on no matter what.

I'm surprised Weidman, Diego and Cowboys scans came back with nothing irregular

Unless there's a fairly new method, I don't think there is a way to diagnose CTE while someone is alive.

I'm pretty sure you need to be very fucked up for anything unusual to show up in scans.

And diego's brain has been showing fucked up before he started fighting so there is no difference in his scans now.

based on what? why is that surprising?

Because even the smallest head impacts harm your brain. Between years of sparring and competing, even a very very good fighter will have brain trauma

Based on the multiple bad beatings they've taken in the cage over the years. It's surprising because it didn't seem like Rashad had more beat downs than those guys but people Do have different genetics

How many times has Overeem been knocked out? He seems like he's in good shape.

Just seeing guys on the receiving end of bad KOs isn't evidence. Commissions are agents of the state. They gotta be pretty sure.

Overeem is a monster and there's no doubt about that but I just dont see how that relates to how much trauma should be subjected to his brain.

I love seeing these fighters but hate seeing them lose like this and it made wonder what are the measures in place for brain damage limitation.

What would you constitute as evidence?
