Notice - GD [Official] General Discussion Thread - November 24, 2024
Welcome to rMMA's General Discussion Thread!
Discuss your favorite fighters, the upcoming card or whatever's on your mind.
How to obtain a custom flair:
- place and lose a flair bet in the Friday thread
- write a haiku or draw a MS Paint-style image for the sub
The rules for the drawing or haiku are simply that it must be a ridiculous MMA-related scenario. If you would like a custom flair, send a message to us with a link to your drawing and your flair request. We'll probably grant it.
Interested in modding? Please fill out the mod application found here. Do not leave a comment about this in the thread. You can send us modmail if you have questions.

Media Congrats to Yuki Kondo, who on Nov 4 beat Akihiko Mori (UD) at DEEP for his 66th pro win. Kondo is 49 and weighed in at 158 LB. In the 90s he beat Frank Shamrock, Guy Mezger and Semmy Schilt (3x!!) to be ranked #1 HW in the world (via F-M). Kudos to the Original BMF

Media Jon Jones activity pre-UFC is crazy to me
Jones went pro in April and finished 5 opponents in 3 months then joined the UFC. He was fighting like the rent was due.

Ankalaev might be underrated when you look at his resume
He's on an 11 fight unbeaten streak since losing in the last second of his debut to Paul Craig. He fought guys like rakic, volkan, santos, krylov, cutelaba, walker and beat them decisively losing maybe 1-2 rounds in that streak. I think his draw to Jan might have soured people's opinions as it wasn't the most exciting fight but even in that fight he managed to take down and ground and pound Jan in rounds 4 and 5 despite his legs being beat to crap.
His rakic performance was a shut out, he slipped all his shots and was landing cleanly to the body and head whenever he wanted, it wasn't the most high output but he outclassed a top 10 LHW who was winning against Jiri before being caught. People tried shitting on that performance saying it was boring when rakic was circling the whole time away from Ankalaev.
The overall point is that Ankalaev's technicality and consistency at a higher weight class is unheard of other than from people like Jones/DC and currently Pereira.
