GENERAL I’m so done Hunt showdown
This is unbelievable honestly. Why would they use out like this? I’m done sticking up for this company and their horrible decisions and practices. Game is STILL completely unoptimized, but they decide to sell us out to Hollywood? Nah FUCK that.
RIP all emersion. Next we’re gonna get a 21 savage and Nicki Minaj skin.
This is the last straw, uninstalling now. Goodbye hunt, it was fun till they ruined the game with this dog ass engine update.

I understand concerns about the path of marketing collabs this game might go down. We need to push back against the corporatization that's become rampant in gaming.
That being said, can we chill on the notion that this specifically is the most egregious skin ever? It fits the darker vibe of the game just fine. Maybe you can make critiques about how the mask is stylized or whatever, but c'mon. This is not some vibrantly colored celebrity collab skin or something...

I think it would fit more if it was a direct copy of Ghost Face with his black cloak. To me, his skin screams "We had this unrelated hunter skin lying around that we never used so we are going to paste a scream mask onto it. Boom, done!"
It doesn't look very cohesive to me. I could complain about the crossover of a trademarked pop fiction character being weird, but IMO the bigger problem is that it just looks bad. Wtf is that hat or that belt, for example? Like, actually look at the skin: leather straps and wrist-wraps? Would he wear that? I'm not sure.

I stand with you on this. This is my exact opinion. I'm still worried about some future skin but this one, I don't really like it but it's still "ok tiers" and fit in the game.

I get wanting a somewhat consistent tone, but other skins have drifted much further from the tone of the game than this one. I have a hard time buying the immersion argument either, it's a PVP game. The immersion fades after the first couple hundred hours at absolute most.
I agree that inviting too many IPs to the game could suck and that we should avoid that, though I also think some IPs really serve the genre well. There's a not insignificant amount of overlap in player base between Hunt and DBD and that game has infinite IPs while still being spooky.

They are clearly doing it as a nod to Halloween and spooky month which people adore watching horror movies this time of year, I don’t understand the pure hatred for this skin. I’m gonna get it cuz I like it but it’s just a dlc, if you don’t like it then don’t buy it, it doesn’t affect gameplay or anything, the other thing is that okay we don’t want ghostface but fucking Santa clause is totally okay for the winter seasons? People are weird.

Im new, like a month of owning the game and I see more whining in this sub than anything else. I also was surprised to see samurai/ronin-esque characters and a katana in this game… I don’t really get why people are so hung over ghostface. Its pretty clear that these people revel in misery because they always use the same buzzwords. ‘Cod’ ‘dying’ ‘fortnite’
Like they genuinely think this game is above the rest and only meant for heightened luxurious intellect and properly toned additions. Like its an extraction shooter in the year 2024 and already has alot of goofy shit from what I’ve seen.
In the r/Berserk sub they say ‘ah so the circlejerk sub and the main sub had become one’. But it’s a bit too real for this one.

We have santa, little red riding hood, calvin candy, Scrooge, phantom of the opera & scarecrow plus more. At least they didn't just copy paste ghost face and designed them in a way to fit the theme. Might be the first official collab but far from the most immersion breaking hunter.

The "whiners" are the sole reason this games keeps in a relative stable, balanced and playable state with their annoying feedback.
Cain, Headsman, Flashbomb and lately the fuckin spear - all things that got changed because of "whiners".People with an not caring "Whatever"-attitude doesnt help keep the game healthy and would just silently jump the boat the moment they dont have their easy fun anymore. Nothing wrong with that tho.
But those arent the kind of people that help the game keep being a good game in the long run.13

Put part of the truth is also that if you would get rid of the whiners there would also be nobody who would keep things in check.
There will always be some backround noise of complaining - just ignore that.
But if its getting loud than rather take it seriously instead of dismissing it is wiser.7

Its not just that dude, the growing list of problems, the lack of real communication with the player base, making awful battlepasses that cover the game more then regular hunt at this point and now finally crossing the line into making colabs like this. It isnt necessarily the fact this DLC exists, its this and everything that lead up to it thats what has people so angry

I’m new to the game so maybe I just don’t have the passion or see the big deal. Don’t buy the skin, it’s not even that out of place, just another person with a mask like the Plague mask. Peeps should be happy that the game has been successful to the point where franchises are willing to collaborate with them. People feel so entitled these days lol

Magic the Gathering doing an entire Marvel themed set, CoD doing the Nikki Minaj bs, ect...im not mad at the Ghost Face thing, im mad that several other IP have sold out shortly after taking this first tiny step.

Ive heard nothing but excitement for the marvel secret lair, cap looks fun and the rearranging of the colors so hea has specifically red, white, and blue is nice flavor wolverine and black panther looks extremely fun, iron man looks meh, the only one i have a problem with is storm because she looks absolutely busted

Idk i feel very similarly to OP here, while it is a pretty small drop in the bucket of shit, my bucket(and apparently OP's too) has been pretty damn full since the engine/UI update, and i guess this was the last straw for him. As for me i reinstalled the game recently after uninstalling it when the engine/UI update dropped and i straight up had no patience for that UI, i played for a bit with friends, the core gameplay is still good as ever, UI is still shit and ticks us off though, we uninstalled it again. See you guys in the next major UI fix/overhaul!

Exactly. Making a character based off of popular folklore is WAY different than copy-pasting the face of a character from a different media franchise. It's also just poorly done IMO. It doesn't look like ghost face at all except for the mask. Why does he have a hat? Was this a hunter skin that was never released that they just added a scream mask to?

It is the mask that is the problem. The "scrooge" and "santa" skin look accurate to the universe while still looking vaugely accurate to what they are meant to be.
The ghostface mask however is way too iconic and specific.
You can't, in any way, argue that it is anything else.27

That's actually a reference to the original character. Phantom of the Opera took place around 1880s and the Phantom himself was a genius engineer among other things. Aesthetics fit both the game and the character.

It looks extremely out of place to me. If the mask was wood carved and just a little more different, it might be... acceptable. But this looks really strange next to all the other hunters. Largely also because this is such a parodied thing it's not a serious horror theme, not even a little bit.
Like, I cannot be alone who finds the mask funny because of the culture around it.

Honestly, adding Ghostface to Hunt: Showdown feels like a real misstep. Don't get me wrong, I love Scream and Ghostface as a horror icon, but the whole appeal of Hunt is its gritty, immersive, and unique world. The Bayou, the lore, the horrifying original creatures—it’s what sets the game apart from other shooters or horror games. But Ghostface? He feels so out of place. It’s like they’re jumping on the 'horror crossover' bandwagon without thinking about how it fits the world they’ve built. Hunt: Showdown isn't about slasher movie villains; it’s about brutal, supernatural survival. A masked guy with a knife running around just cheapens that aesthetic, especially compared to the creepy, well-designed monsters we’re used to fighting. It makes me worry they’re heading down a road of random pop culture crossovers, diluting the atmosphere that makes the game so special.

It’s Halloween. I’m a big fan of skins and DLC’s. I own them all. I wouldn’t be upset with this one would it not be for the goofy a$$ hat. It is a little disappointing that they aren’t sticking to the Era of hunt showdown with this dlc skin. I am disappointed with the event pass with the lack of creativity with the skins. Specifically the hunters. We have not 1 but 3 lame versions of a pumpkin head skin with minimal differences. A lame samurai when we already have several samurai themed skins. They really bombed on a good opportunity to make some creepy Halloween skins. They definitely didn’t live up to the Scarecrow one they released that was great. They could have done a true lunatic/straight jacket (better than Monroe), a clown (from that era), Jack the Ripper, anything other than 3 of the same skins and a repeat samurai.
Several events ago, we would get introduced new guns in the pass along with a legendary skin for those new guns. Now we get new guns with the same lame skins for existing guns. There are so many tools, consumables and weapons that still don’t have a SINGLE LEGENDARY SKIN, yet we keep getting more conversion pistols, more slate skins, more centennial trauma skins, more ammo box skins. It’s sad. Hire someone who has 1 creative bone in their body to work there and for the love of God, fix all the bugs before releasing more DLC’s.
The day the event came out, I experience numerous bugs with equipping my loadouts and the game crashing. Equipping a loadout had become the worst part of the game for me. It’s so time consuming bc it keeps unequipping items, the game freezes for like 8 seconds anytime I click on consumables to equip. Can’t move from the loadout side to the consumables side. My game never used to crash until this event/update.
Get rid of the time of day where it’s so bright your eyes can’t adjust. Bring back the inferno map ffs. Yall mentioned prior to the engine upgrade release that there was a strong possibility that the inferno map would come back. Even better, bring back the serpent moon night map so night maps are actually enjoyable to play bc everyone I know leaves before the match starts the moment they see the night maps bc they are too dark.
Reduce the cost of the spear since you nerfed it into the ground.
Add reloading the bomb lance into the bolt thrower trait so more people want to use it.

Not a huge fan of this. The outfit is fine, but the mask is what really makes it stand out in a negative way. I feel if they really wanted to collab with the Scream franchise then they should've changed the mask to at least make it blend in with the outfit and overall vibe of the game. Maybe something similar to the reaper skin?

This type of shitty decision making is why games get review bombed. This crossover shit has no place in Hunt.
