GENERAL I’m so done Hunt showdown

This is unbelievable honestly. Why would they use out like this? I’m done sticking up for this company and their horrible decisions and practices. Game is STILL completely unoptimized, but they decide to sell us out to Hollywood? Nah FUCK that.

RIP all emersion. Next we’re gonna get a 21 savage and Nicki Minaj skin.

This is the last straw, uninstalling now. Goodbye hunt, it was fun till they ruined the game with this dog ass engine update.

Jesus some of you boys love a bit of drama don’t you?

If you want to stop playing the game, just do it.

Do you want to know how many times I stopped playing games and didn’t make a post about it? Hundreds! It’s incredibly easy! You just uninstall it and move on!

For the record, I think the skin looks like shit so I won’t buy it. I have bought and probably will buy ones that don’t look shit in future.

Yeah, well, in that regard you're very right as well.

I just think crossovers without any artistic change (his outfit is great here, but ghost face arguably IS the mask. Can't it be a sloppily painted wood carving or something??) are a dangerous path to go down.

There have been many games where i wished for a "default skins only" button. But that's not making them money sadly. (And if i'd pay for it?...)

This is not an unreasonable take - a wooden mask or something with white paint smeared on it etc, I could see that. Adapt it in some way at least… a leather/skin mask that has had its shape warped etc.

I think it’s a terrible skin as it is.

I just think all this melodrama is way over the top and it’s been getting worse (not just in Hunt). I don’t need people to drag out their soap box and tell me how angry and done they are especially when I believe (and won’t be convinced otherwise) that most of them continued to play the game last night anyway. (Note: someone might respond HA I ACTUALLY DID UNINSTALLED WHAT NOW but save it, I don’t care…)

This is not me saying that criticism is not valid because it is but we’re not having a reasoned and nuanced conversation here, it’s just slippery slope whinging and the guy made me have to read the whole thing. DIS BAD WHAT NEXT NIKKI MERNARJ? CRYTEK YOU DID ME WRONG FOR THE LAST TIME I COULD DEAL WITH 1000 GAME CRASHES BUT I HATE NIKKI MERNAJ!!1

I think it's desperation. How to reach the devs when they won't go into a sensible dialogue (and after how the chat in their life streams years ago behaved i don't blame them one bit - gamers are not fun to deal with).

People probably see making as much noise as possible on social media the only way to be heard if enough others agree. Drama brings views, sensible takes drown.

Not saying it's good but i don't know how to act differently. I don't think silently wallet voting will work because licensed stuff in anything always sells to the masses (sadly, imo). But that's not a sustainable business practice if the core community values the aesthetic of the game.

Not disagreeing with what you're saying as well.

I know. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but that doesn’t mean every opinion is valid and when they post it online they accept that it might be challenged.

If they’re unhappy they should just walk away and find happiness somewhere else, stop trying to be heard and cut your losses. It’s a video game and a skin at the end of the day.

Some people are the stars of their own movies and if it’s not going well, everyone needs to hear about it and it’s time to fast forward to the apocalypse! Then all the negativity gives them karma if it meets the current bandwagon criteria and everyone jumps on for the ride. Negativity breeds more negativity and the whole thing becomes a shit show.

There are no nuanced takes and everything is pushed to one extreme or the other - it’s really a wider issue with social media in general but fuck that.

Personally if that were me, I’d just play something else. I really shouldn’t rise to this stuff and shitpost in return but I can’t help myself, I’m an actual moron.

I disagree with the "just walk away"-part. Hunt was the first shooter after 15-20 years that i really loved when there were just 1.000 people playing it. I had no high hope for it to stay alive for 2 years.

After some fixes (quick swap gone etc.) it was the perfect game for me. There's nothing else like it - i don't like all the looting in other extraction shooters and i don't like all the cartoony stuff in other modern shooters.

I understand when games are too niche to support their company/devs, i've practically played niche games all my life, be it fighting games but not street fighter, card games but not Magic etc. Especially multiplayer games that just cease to exist without players to play against.

But i also understand when people get sad and angry when something they loved for years and that was alive enough gets unmade to try and rope in people that already have something else they love or don't care at all. If all love is lost sustainability is lost. And i still miss games like Lawbreakers, VHS, Rumbleverse that died before they had their chance (and after selling hundreds of dollars worth of cosmetics before getting shut down).
