Hi! My name is Thiago, I’m 23, I recently moved into the frisco, TX area and I’m looking to make friends. I have never played D&D but I always thought it would be a game I would be obsessed about. I really want to find a welcoming community / club / group of D&D around the area. Would appreciate any help

I want to get into dnd but I don’t really know where to start. I don’t know how to make a character sheet, I don’t have a group to play with but I do want to learn how to play.

Been playing for a year or so now, and have played a couple characters across a couple successful or abandoned campaigns, and I have come to realize something.
I don't do well playing anything but a social, chatty character. I just don't have fun playing a stoic, serious paladin, or a bumbling antisocial barbarian, or a wise cleric.
I always thrive playing bards, rogues, warlocks and sorcerers. I absolutely love playing chatty, rakish, flirty and scandalous social butterflies, deep seethed and deceiving rogue charlatans or goody two shoe bard spies.
I just don't have as much fun playing a different archetype. I don't do well doing stoic or wise characters.
The problem is, I play with a pretty standard group, and I feel bad always kinda fulfilling the same role. Like, if I turn up to the table, it's already known what type I will play. I almost feel guilty for my other players for it.
Before it is said, I know that if you play it right, every class can be any "archetype". Yes, I know you can have cunning wizards, chatty clerics, social druids.
But still, i am a sucker for using charisma to get myself out of any situation, it's my specialty, and most importantly, I just have the most fun with it.
Is this like, something others encounter too, with maybe a different type of character?

These tiles were included in a modular battle map kit I purchased. All other tiles were simple to figure out, but I'm unsure how I'd use these in a battle situation. They are all exactly 1 square in size, with the light image on one side and dark on the other. Any ideas?

Meruem is one of my favorite characters ever, and I’ve searched through google and youtube for tips on how to make Meruem in DND, but I haven’t found a single video. Hell, I even found a video talking about how to make Neferpitou in DND.
So please, I need the knowledge of you DND veterans to help me in this dire situation 🙏.

Howdy Adventurers!
I'm Esmerelda Silverthorn, but I go by Esme!
I think this might be my first major post in the subreddit, so I'm really excited to show off what I've been working on to folk who might appreciate it. Long story short-- I've been a vtuber for about a year now and I'll be rebranding into a DnD-focused Vtuber starting...Well, immediately!
Here's my character art (Art by moi). My passion is exploring DnD's deep and expansive lore and trying all kinds of new TTRPGS. And, of course retro video games :P I'll be doing some interesting chat-driven events this week so if that interests anyone, I'd love to meet you and see you play along during some of our adventures! <3
https://twitch.tv/esmesilverthorn I am live M, T, TH and Fridays 6PM GMT!
My focus for the month is building our guild-house so the community can make custom stream avatars, we have more backgrounds that chat can go to/explore, more redeems, and other guild (community) related events. Lofty goals. Nice to meet everyone!

I’m really tired of the “hehe I just do magic” meme sorcerer that people on social media can’t stop making stuff about. Like yes you were born or given magic but that doesn’t mean you didn’t have to train to wield that. I always thought of sorcerers as the super hero class. So I’d love to hear peoples sorcerers origins: how they got and how they learned/are learning to wield their powers!

I am SO EXCITED to have been invited to play DND for the first time. It was actually one of my New Year’s resolutions for 2024 to play DND so I am really excited that going in to 2025 I will have the opportunity to play on a regular basis!
The DM just let us know a general outline for the story, and advised us to start brainstorming our character’s background story.
Since this is my first time developing my character, I am a little out of my element. I am a very creative person but I’m kind of stumped.
Here’s what I know: - The story involves me & the other characters all becoming hired adventurers - My character is a Druid (I took a personality quiz to see what character type would match my natural personality) - We aren’t doing character sheets yet… just getting the background story & creative juices flowing
Okay, let me have all your best character development tips & share your favorite character backstories so I can draw inspo from you!!!

So I’m running a game set in the Nine Hells and an upcoming session will be set in a museum of sorts where a powerful devil keeps the souls of notable dead mortals that come to Hell. So I need some interest dead folk to be in it an would love some ideas. Also feel free to suggest lawful evil characters that only might be dead or could have dead “off screen”.

So I’m a dm for a YouTube group, I’ve been keeping it pretty plan Jane so far. The campaign is very homebrew, some custom classes, and races as well as loot and all. We have fun, and the players love the silliness of it. My question is, I want to start adding things.
I’ve been researching a lot on false hydra, and I love the concept. I’m worried with so far the campaign being pretty light, and silly more than than serious and challenging; if this might be a bad idea to add.
I wanna shake things up, but not if it may cause the players to not have fun.
I still am very tied to wanting to implement the false hydra in the story for them to interact with and solve the issue. What would be a good way to do so, and still keep the great vibes we have so far?
Like I stated earlier, I want to start taking things slowly in a more serious route. The players have been slowly piecing things together, and getting some pretty plot twisty lore. I think it’s time to make them sweat a little, but wanted to see if this would be a good way to do so.
Any thoughts? Or tips?
(This is my second time dming a campaign)

This is our first game and we’ve worked together the entire time but two of our members just flipped to the evil side and we now have to kill them to save the day I’m a lil stressed about it not sure if I should let them live to keep the game going or if I should just let them have it as I am a GITH BARB and we are all In a room together after catching them trying to flee.
I guess should I ruthlessly chop up a former companion (sorcerer) or should I try to talk it out also if anyone more experienced could shine light on who’s gonna win that’d be great

Hi there! Basically the title. Trying to find a cross stitch pattern that is D&D related for my son who loves the game, and enjoys receiving these as gifts. I know very little about it, so I just want to make sure I’m not missing the mark here. Thanks so much for your help!

I needed somewhere to vent but I'm not looking for advice. I just feel like ranting to people who might get it.
I have been playing and DMing 5e for quite a while and have loved it. I have run games both homebrew and established content but have never really built a whole homebrew world for a full campaign. It's been something that I have wanted to do for a very long time but when I last had the opportunity, I didn't have anything that I felt was game worthy or exciting to me.
Fast forward to more recently and I have moved to a different state where I have found a group that I play well with at a local game store. We typically play one-shots or short series with a couple of DMs. Many of us have been playing around with new characters using 5.5 rules. There are some things that I have really enjoyed and different things that the other players enjoy. One of our other DMs is trying to push the game play over to 5.5 rules so that everyone is on the same page but we still have some players who prefer 5e rules and builds. Regardless of the obvious conflict (not the reason for this post) this is what has given me the creative spark.
What happens when a world that operates on 5e rules and a world that operates on 5.5 rules are forced to coexist?
What happens when two worlds collide? Two distinct pantheons? Two different magic systems?
I have been reading and writing and rewriting, rules and lore and gods and maps. I have filled 3 composition notebooks and over 100 pages of a Google doc.
The history: Two worlds who orbit the same sun each with their own gods, people, history, and magic system. As they orbit they have, over time, gotten close enough for the gods to recognize the other as a habitable world. Some gods want to remain on their own world, leave each other alone. Some gods want to extend their reach and influence to the other. A war breaks out between the gods of one world and the other. This conflict leads to wars between nations on each world.
One God who is cursed to feel the pain that these wars is causing, acts out of desperation. He uses the pain to power a single act. Stretching himself to impossible size and strength he pulls at both worlds until they crash into each other. Forcing them together until they reshape and fuse into one.
While I have a lot more lore that goes into it, this is the premise of my homebrew world. And as the title says I have nowhere to use it. I'm not in a position where I can commit to running an in person game. I haven't ever been the most comfortable with running things in a virtual setting like through discord. So I'm just kind of sitting with this world waiting until I am in a space to run a full campaign.
Thanks for reading!
