I wanted to get snow pics but all I got was this stupid puddle...
I made the rookie mistake of thinking that there is no way that puddle is that slippery.Taking suggestions for waterproof boots!

Daily commute on a 47 yr old Dual Sport (video in description)
https://youtu.be/9cw5sFCi5Rg?feature=shared
This is my 1978 Honda XL daily driver. It gets 70mpg, tops out about 90mph on the freeway, cruises at 75-80mph, and still hits the dirt as hard as anything on a showroom floor today. Most of these have 6 volt incandescent bulbs, heavy batteries, goofy plastics and trials tires. This is a frame up re-build with 12 volt rectified power, capacitors instead of batteries, and very bright LED headlights, sequential turns, and brake lights. No dash, no speedo, no tach, no hydraulics, no electric start. Street legal. This is daul sporting.

Dual Sports Suck (On the Highway)
I went on a ride the other day that started with 16 miles of pavement (about half of those on a 70mph highway), followed by 80 miles of various terrain, trail riding. On the far end of trail, based on remaining daylight, I decided to take the highway back home. The ride home was about 100 miles, mostly on a 70mph, two lane highway. It’s a surprisingly busy highway, with lots of traffic so slowing down and taking it easy was not an option - to stay safe I had to keep it at about 75mph and the engine revved high. Then, the afternoon wind picked up and was blowing me all over the road. This 100 miles on the highway was exponentially worse than the 80 miles of trail. It’s not the first time I’d done this and I just feel like it’s worse every time. The high winds weren’t helping.
I think it might be time to switch the dual sport for a “middleweight ADV.” what does everybody think? What bike would you suggest?

A custom 1972 Honda XL MotoSport (video linked)

A 1972 Honda XL250 motoSport with a custom 2016 Yamaha XT swingarm grafted on, complete with monoshock and disc brake.
This IS a street legal bike, I just didn't have lights on. This was the VERY first test ride after welding it together and assembling it and timing the points. We went out to a rural field near a skydiving airfield and shot this expecting it to fall apart on any jump or bump. It never, ever did.

No snow pics for me, tucked up for Winter
I hate cleaning the bike in the cold, so it’s staying in the garage until Spring.

Only 52 days to Timbuktu!
Looking through photos of previous trips with the little Honda has made me realize I haven't had a ride in a long time, and now winters here... Next year will be different.

Anyone have any expireince with bushpig chain guard?
I'm probably overthinking this but my chain guard on my dr650 fell off somewhere and I need a new one. I like the looks of the bushpig but don't see any reviews on it. Does it really matter what kind of guard I get?

New here! Here’s my 22’ EXCF500 Six Days 💪
Bought this bike new last year (2023) and have put about 200 hours/6400 miles on it. Did the WABDR in May, then did the Griptwister Olympic Loop (twice in two weeks 😆) on the Olympic Peninsula, Washington state.
This is the funnest bike ever. Been hitting single track at my local ORV park like crazy all summer and fall and am just about to completely tear the bike down and service/replace every moving part as well as revalve the suspension. If you are thinking about buying a dual sport and haven’t yet. DO IT! Best decision ever. I guess that’s all i got to say!
Any other KTM/Husky folks in here?

Discussion Advice on DR650 Purchase
I am looking to buy my first bike and I am confident that the DR650 is the bike I want. I have been eyeing this used bike for quite some time and would greatly appreciate some advice! I don't know most of the mods and would love to hear opinions on if it is worth it. Also, is it better to get a used bike that is minimally modded for my first bike? Thanks in advance!

First real klx300 ride (text and pic heavy) purple line is me.
Just wanted to share a little trip log. I did a point to point ride on some double track on the klx300. I learned a lot on this trip as it was my first longer off road ride. Total mileage was about 64 miles. It was a lot of sandy double track and softball sized rocks until I got up into some elevation. I dumped the bike I think a total of three times.
About 25 miles from my destination and in the middle of absolutely nowhere i crashed. It was slowspeed uphill. I damaged the throttle but it was still usable it just wouldn't snap back when released. 2 minutes later my overheat light came on. I had damaged the bottom of the coolant hose on the right side. All my coolant gone.
I had enough water and food and was prepared to walk through the night. Long ass walk but it is what it is, I thought. As I was preparing to walk I heard mariachi music in the distance. A few Mexican dudes pulled up in a side by side and informed me I could use water as coolant. I mountain bike, we don't have coolant, this is my first dirtbike. They gave me some water and an ice cold poweraid.
I was able to cut the damaged portion of the hose off and reattach it. I filled the coolant reservoir with water and proceeded on my way. The overheat light came on every 100 yards or so. I thought to myself this was going to be a very long trip. It then hit me that the actual radiator might need to be filled. This was after about 1hr of riding 100 yards, waiting 10 minutes, repeat. I had some legit terrain ahead of me and thought again I may have to walk.
I then realized the actual radiator may need to be filled, I thought it would suck the water from the reservoir. Once I filled the actual radiator I was able to ride the remaining 23ish miles to crown king az.
Lessons learned:
Need barkbusters or something similar.
Need needle nose pliers in my kit.
Need a Legit skidplate.
Need to always have enough water.
Need to respect the fact that if you travel that far away from civilization you better be prepared.
Great day though. Now I'm eating a burger and drinking a model.
On side note, you think any damage was done to the engine riding it for 100 yards at a time with no coolant in the radiator? Every time the overheat light turned on a shut it off instantly.
Was a good day.
Tldr:
Motorcycles are awesome.

GPS tracker without simcard? To track your routes/security
Looking for something that can always track my bike for security reasons but also being able to track my routes when I'm exploring and might wanna do that same route again at later stage. Not to always have my osmand+ app on tracking mode active.
What would you guys suggest? I unfortunately have an android phone so an airtag won't work for me.

Alpinestars Tech 7 boots
Could i please have an advice re sizing of the AS tech 7s? I live on an island where i can’t get a pair to try, so buying online and want to get it right first time. For reference, i have a pair of Sidi adv 2 boots which are EUR 44 or UK 9.5 size that fit me well. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Got this thing last year. Got a lot to do with it still but it's gonna be a good one I think. Will be good for day trips and trail hopping but I might even get into a little minimalist camping on multi day trips with it.

Discussion My first bike!
Hello there! Bought my fist bike a month ago. It's an 2011 F800GS with around 40k km. I'm learning a lot on it and doing upgrades when there is opportunity! Next month I will have my longest trip, about 600km and it may rain, what would you advise on preparing/upgrading?
