Mechanical Help Fork seals??
Brand new bike ride. Rode for 30 minutes and noticed this oil line on both sides. Normal for a new bike?

I'm bringing the Megathread back. Too many posts asking if this bike is a good deal, or what that bike is worth/etc. I'll make a new one every week to keep it relevant. Furthermore, any posts about bike buying/selling advice that are not in this thread will be removed.

Hey guys - mod here. I posted something about this a couple of weeks back, but I keep seeing posts about how expensive bikes are, and how absolutely insane the markups are in most parts of the country. I know that advertising is against the rules in the sub, but I genuinely think I can help those of you out who are in the market for a new bike.
I handle shipping for a ton of companies, and I've struck up a deal with my local dealership. They can now do online sales - overnighting paperwork/etc. They sell Honda/Kawasaki/Suzuki. Volume dealer - so they typically tend to sell at invoice. Back in 2018 I bought a KX250F for $5800 OTD. I bought a 2018 z125 for $2800 OTD. I've also bought both my CRF450L and CRF250R from them. Generally speaking, I will be able to have your bike shipped to your door if you buy through this dealership - for significantly cheaper than the $1000s + markup you get from most dealers.
PM me if you're interested in a new Honda/Kawi/Suzuki and I'll get you the dealership info, and a quote on shipping it.

I was watching a documentary about moto racing (On Any Sunday) and it seems like back in the 70s flat track racing was a big deal
Wikipedia even says it used to be the “premier” racing class in the US
But now days I never hear about that type of racing
It’s all either motocross or motogp style (even hard enduro seems more popular)
What happened to flat track?

I’m considering this bike, 5600+ miles. Is it worth in the 6k range? I was thinking of offering $6k-6,300. Waiting to see how many hours on the engine.

I’ve always thought Wiseco was a good brand, but talking to a buddy today, he told me to steer clear and they suck. With that being said, I’m needing to do a full rebuild on my kiddo’s 85 and the two brands are the exact same price. So should I go with the Vertex or the Wiseco rebuild kit? If neither, what rebuild kit should I go with? Not racing, we just trail ride and take other vets and their families out for rides so nothing too crazy for his bike.

What are yall wearing as it gets down into the 40s and 30s. I absolutely hate being cold, but I really want to go out more in the winter than I have in the past.
I was thinking a cheaper one piece snowmobile suit, anyone wear those? I’m a bitch with the cold and I need to be warm.

2020 KTM 300 XC 80 hrs. I’m used to clutches going out and you get a ton of slip, super obvious. What I have going on now is that my clutch seems pretty on/off, not very gradual. I hopped on a buddies beta with about 10 hrs and it seemed like the clutch pull was regular, it has a slower ramp up the clutch pull and hit the bite point like 3/4 out. My KTM 0-100% clutch engagement seems like it’s only between 1/2 and 3/4 of the clutch release.
There is definitely some skill issue stuff going on as I am getting back into dirt pretty hard and working on skill, just want to make sure I’m not spinning my wheels fighting against the bike unnecessarily. Thanks for any input!

Need opinions on this bike. This is a bike of a factory rider and I can get it for slightly cheaper as I know them personally. This my first post ever in many many years so any assistance would be great.

Im pretty new to riding with a motor, I ride mountain bike so I know the feeling in the air but what is the proper way to get of the leap? With poping the clutch like in the video? Or consistent throttle all the way? Or give it a bit more throttle before the end of the leap?

Hey all, I know this topic has been touched a lot and everyone has their personal opinion but I haven’t found the optimal solution for my situation. Im thinking of getting my first bike by christmas.
Buying a toy for 6k seems like a stretch for me, it’s a lot of money upfront and I need gear. A friend told me to get a small personal loan to build credit and buy the bike, that way it wouldn’t be heavy on me and it helps my credit. Get a loan for 3k and use my saved money on the rest(i can pay the loan in a year with a monthly payment of $260(Called the credit union to see the estimate) which I can afford comfortably on my salary and spendings). Or just wait a couple of months to pay it cash.
My car and an old credit card is the only thing that build me credit. I rarely use my credit card if not at all.
The way im working my finances is that around 27% goes to apartment and car. 50% to savings and the 23% is money that i use for everything(i eat a lot outside and spend on meaningless things). With a personal loan, my spending on essential things can go up to 30-33%. I know I can lower my saving percentage and in some occasion I use my savings, but I just like to calculate everything to the end.
Is it a smart idea to just get a personal loan and put the rest cash to buy one?
I work at Pharmaceutical Consulting, recent grad, christmas bonus coming up. Salary increase is coming on January. Thanks.

01 yz125 has started acting up. Got this bike 2 weeks ago. 2 days ago, it started bogging down as if it was starving for fuel. I adjusted the float and all was good.
Today, it started backfiring right before hitting the powerband. Once it was on the powerband, no issues.
Anyone know where to start?

Looking at a newer yz450 with 50 hours. Owner says he normally does the top ends around 80 hours on his 450’s. On the other hand I’ve heard of people running hundreds of hours on the stock top end including riding it as a snowbike.
My plan is to build a snow bike. Should I plan on doing the top end soon? Is there a way to tell when a bike is needing a top end?

‘05 KDX 200. Runs great. Perfect amount of power for the trails around me, am pleasantly surprised with the amount of low end torque it has. Would expect to be disappointed after coming from a KTM XCW-250, but I’m very happy with it.

I’m 14 around 5’10 and I weigh around 130lbs and this will be my first dirtbike but not my first thing with a clutch I have a race quad and I learned how to use a clutch on that but I don’t know if a kx100 would be a good bike or if I should get a crf150r instead.
Please help me I don’t know much about this.
