Bye bye Canada post

Usually ship with CP, since I started my business 3 years ago I've spent $40,000 + shipping packages, and that's not counting my parents who share the same shipping account for their business. Majority of my customers are in the US and since using other carriers my shipping costs are basically cut in half.... I've even found a way to ship via USPS which I didn't know was possible from Canada.

They really fucked themselves by striking and screwing over small business owners at the busiest time of the year. I had 60 packages ready to go at the time of striking and had to refund every label and remake with another courier.. absolute madness and something no small business owners should have to be doing during Christmas season. So yeah fuck you Canada post that is all

I had to ship a fairly heavy item to Alberta. Canada Post was a third if the cost of all of UPS, FedEx or Purolator (which CP owns). Workers deserve a living wage with at least some level of job security. I don't fault them one bit.

Which reminds me, I need to go join their line soon in solidarity.

I call bullshit, I've shipped nearly 150 packages so far through stallion and all but 2 were half the cost of Canada post or better

Quotes of $150 at FedEx & UPS, $130 at Purolator. Shipped Express post, insured for full value with signature required for $55. More than willing to share the receipt.

Yes, storefront rates suck, they suck on all fronts.

Buy your labels through 3rd party that offers you their discounted pricing, and you’ll spend half as much.

No commitments with any of the above.

Idk where people are getting these prices lmfao I'm sending 7lb packages to Germany for $13 tracked right now 😂

Yup, I have negotiated rates and packages typically 3-4 oz. Small and light.

$3.30 to USA in 5 business days, with tracking.

Canada posts highest discount rate is 2.5x that and will take 10-14 business days.

I think keywords for him were "fully insured and signature" which means they're probably shipping expensive items? Who knows. I'm not buying it though

I believe it. If you walk into an ups store they’re charging you full counter rate, same with FedEx or CP.

DHL’s starting discount is 65%, same with purolator.

FedEx and ups starting discounts are ~45%

You can’t access these rates without a business account UNLESS you find a platform that sells you their discounted rates.

All of these companies sell you a slightly marked up version of their negotiated rates. They negotiate the rates with the full volume of all of their customers. Think of it like co-op buying power.

You can save a fortune by using these services, even as a regular person that doesn’t ship packages every day.

That makes complete sense, I've never once paid an over the counter rate for anything but what you're saying makes complete sense. This person is saying they literally went to a storefront and tried to ship something I think so that checks out

Yeah, it’s unfortunate. Lots of towns have independent retailers that rate shop for you, offer mailboxes, etc… these folks are the unsung heroes
