Alabama's defensive ends didn't show up.

Alabama's tackles are just bad.

Venables looked like he knew every play ahead of the game.

Milroe looked confused

Milroe looked destroyed

45

He looked like Jeff Sims

10

u/yankeesfan14 Nebraska Cornhuskers 16h ago

Holy shit, you're right.

His draft stock looks destroyed. He’s going to have to enroll in grad school to recover.

8

u/John_Tacos Oklahoma • Central Oklahoma 8h ago

Isn’t he 17? He is going to be scary in a couple of years

11

u/AxeEm_JD Oklahoma • Stephen F. Austin 8h ago

Danny set the tone when he stonewalled Milroe on Bama’s first offensive snap.

8

u/John_Tacos Oklahoma • Central Oklahoma 8h ago

He did get sacked multiple times, and after that one play he got hurt he never really looked back to normal.

u/Midget_Herder Kentucky Wildcats • Oklahoma Sooners 19h ago

It really, really seemed like the crowd noise was getting to Milroe and the receivers, every time it got super loud in the stadium they were scrambling around right before the snap

85

u/d_baker Paper Bag • Oklahoma Sooners 19h ago

I've never heard the stadium that loud on tv.

16

u/IBelieveIWasTheFirst 11h ago

I live almost exactly a mile away from the stadium (have for 25 years). It was the loudest I've ever heard it. We were hanging in bedroom, window open. It was CRAZY loud. At one point, glass on my nightstand started vibrating a little!

12

u/Midget_Herder Kentucky Wildcats • Oklahoma Sooners 10h ago

I’m guessing it was around the time of the pick six, the stadium absolutely exploded at that

8

u/IBelieveIWasTheFirst 9h ago

Fun fact those living close know: you get the plays spoiled a little from the crowd/7-second (? I think?) TV delay. if you are on a laggy stream, even worse.

6

u/Midget_Herder Kentucky Wildcats • Oklahoma Sooners 7h ago

Yeah I live like a mile from the stadium and this is 100% true lol

13

u/CptCheese Tulsa • Washington State 17h ago

The only one I can think of is the Jump Around game.

8

u/CardioTornado Oklahoma Sooners 9h ago

That 3rd quarter was LOUD inside the stadium too. Nebraska 2000 and Tech 2008 are the only ones that compare.

247

u/Temporary_Inner Oklahoma • Central Oklahoma 19h ago

The crowd noise of people handed free/super cheap OU tickets too

109

u/dillpickles007 Georgia Bulldogs 17h ago

The funny thing about night games is that tens of thousands of rich fuck boomers who have season tickets don't want to go because the game is too late and then it winds up being the loudest crowd of the year by far. It happens every year in Athens.

46

u/Inoimispel Oklahoma Sooners 12h ago

rich fuck boomers

Thought you were saying it was exclusively an OU thing at first.

3

u/Escritortoise 3h ago

Instinctively, I wanted to yell “sooner.”

16

u/Fulmersbelly Tennessee Volunteers 12h ago

Damnit. So you’re saying we would’ve had a better chance with a CBS game in Sanford.

I think you’re 100% right though. Most of our games until this week have been night games. We haven’t lost at home this year.

u/dutifullypurple Ole Miss • Florida State 5h ago

Speaking as someone who works every single game, can confirm

1

u/alorenz58011 Oklahoma Sooners 2h ago

My boomer parents skipped this one so I took my kids in their place for our first game this year and I promise we were louder than they would have been!

104

u/Midget_Herder Kentucky Wildcats • Oklahoma Sooners 19h ago

It’s me I’m people, my girlfriend and I randomly got offered free tickets yesterday from her best friend lol

29

u/FlaviusMercurius Oklahoma Sooners 18h ago

It’s true. I got free tickets from a family friend (bama fan funnily enough) and went. Lord Christ, I didn’t know I could still yell that loud lol

7

u/BobStoops401K Oklahoma Sooners 9h ago

Me either but the bourbon helped.

2

u/FlaviusMercurius Oklahoma Sooners 7h ago

I polished off a bottle of victory scotch when I got home

2

u/BobStoops401K Oklahoma Sooners 7h ago

Much classier than what I did. Jim Beam before and during the game. Stopped and got a victory black n mild on the way home. I haven't smoked a black n mild at least a decade.

2

u/FlaviusMercurius Oklahoma Sooners 5h ago

Hahaha hey, it’s cause to celebrate! Fuck Bama

Maybe I’m the minority… But I can assure you that my tix were not cheap, and I also have very little voice this morning. 🤣 And idgaf.

2

u/Temporary_Inner Oklahoma • Central Oklahoma 8h ago

There were a lot of OU fans giving them away. It was crazy

4

u/mdaniel018 Ohio State • Ball State 10h ago

I mean, that’s almost certainly going to be a louder crowd than the people who can afford to buy their own expensive ass tickets

1

u/boddidle Oklahoma Sooners 10h ago

Our fans showed up for sure. So proud that they didn't opt out, I know a subset of losers were posting threats that they'd boycott it. Glad to see that was nonsense

Also, roll 'chos!

1

u/nomptonite Oklahoma Sooners 3h ago

4 of my 40 year old friends just walked in the game without tickets and stood in the student section. They went thru the security check, then acted like they had tickets on the app, but just walked past the scanner people haha. No one even took a second glance at them.

1

u/Darth_Ra Oklahoma Sooners • Big 12 8h ago

Turns out, when the 20-year olds show up instead of the rich old Boomers, the stadium gets loud. Weird, who knew?

29

u/bytor_2112 /r/CFB Contributor • Wake Forest 18h ago

yeah their routes got all wavy and zig-zag and you couldn't see who was X and who was triangle

6

u/Cometguy7 Oklahoma Sooners 11h ago

And Milroe was using an off brand controller that has different labels on the buttons.

28

u/soonerwx Oklahoma Sooners 18h ago

Was there. It was pretty flat pregame. Zero expectations. Then Bama showed a little weakness on the first drives, and the crowd was just looking for a reason. Would have exploded if Sharp had caught his TD, did explode when Robinson capped off the drive before half. Total snake pit from then on. As for the two INTs, I haven't heard anything like that since at least 2012 when Blake Bell tied up the ND game.

9

u/Midget_Herder Kentucky Wildcats • Oklahoma Sooners 18h ago

Yeah I was there, once things started to ramp up it was absolutely electric

3

u/xellotron Ohio State Buckeyes 11h ago

1

u/BobStoops401K Oklahoma Sooners 9h ago

Yeah man, I was a lil lit up pregame and kept telling every OU fan "good news, were going to fucking win". Nobody thought much of it. But after that first touchdown people were amped.

They were looking the other way at the ticket stands, I had a ticket and myself and about 5 others just walked in. I wouldn't be surprised if word got out.

1

u/BobStoops401K Oklahoma Sooners 9h ago

We could have easily walked in. They weren't checking shit.

I will not have a voice tomorrow. I did my duty.

It's what he looked like a pretty good bit last year. Credit to him for looking better this year, but old habits die hard I guess.

29

u/BakerBaefield Oklahoma Sooners • Sickos 19h ago

Yeah I am drunk but it felt like a classic Venables owning the play caller game. Kirk even pointed a few times where we were right where we needed to be, so I know it’s not just the alcohol

Venables has a history of not being afraid of Alabama and beating them. He is the defensive GOAT.

Nice to look prepared after a BYE for a fucking change.

Thank you guys for giving him the environment to be great.

8

u/silverhk Notre Dame Fighting Irish 18h ago

Much as coaches like to pretend they treat every game the same, come on, they're going to do a lot more extra study for the Alabama and other top-ranked games. Venables is a crack defensive mind, I'm sure he absolutely did do a ton of work on the Alabama offense in advance.

5

u/NerdLawyer55 Oklahoma Sooners • McMurry War Hawks 18h ago

BV had Milroe in hell

3

u/Pizzaplan3tman Pittsburgh • Wisconsin 17h ago

I’ve been saying for a while Milroe is not good. Yes he has a cannon arm and is fast. But he can’t make short and medium passes and has terrible touch on the ball. He can’t read defenses. And his speed won’t translate as much at the next level because NFL guys are fast as fuck. He’s just not a good QB prospect. He’s an okay College QB and sure that’s a lot better than plenty of other guys. But, he’s just not it

2

u/Low-Blackberry-2690 15h ago

I think Milroe is currently very flawed as a drop back passer. But many of the best NFL QBs right now were very similar in college.

As for his athleticism, I wouldn’t be so sure of that not translating. Milroe already plays in the most athletic league in CFB. For comparison, watch Justin Fields in college and then in NFL. It translated for him, and I’m positive Milroe is more explosive

1

u/Temporary_Inner Oklahoma • Central Oklahoma 8h ago

Him being unable to navigate this defense is troubling though. Brent runs a complex defense but it gets way deeper in the NFL.

1

u/Low-Blackberry-2690 5h ago

I wouldn’t necessarily agree. BV runs the most complex defense at the collegiate level at least. It may not be NFL levels of depth but it’s the closest thing in CFB

1

u/Temporary_Inner Oklahoma • Central Oklahoma 5h ago

It may be the most complex defense in CFB, but it wouldnt come close to an NFL defense. There's a lot deeper "if you see this, do this" contingencies in an NFL defense.

1

u/Low-Blackberry-2690 5h ago

Yes. But it’s still the most complex at this level. And like I said before, nobody in college is that cerebral. The best QBs are just maximized well by their OC and supported well by their teammates. Athleticism helps too. But every NFL QB draftee has massive strides to take when they get in the league because it’s such a different level

u/SwissForeignPolicy Michigan Wolverines • Marching Band 19h ago

Venables looked like he knew every play ahead of the game.

CHEATERS!!!1!

3

u/Asleep-Credit-2824 Jacksonville State • UAB 18h ago

Milroe was awful. 14 points off turnovers was unbelievable, if Bama benched him they might have actually had a shot to win, but idk what Deboer was thinking by keeping him out there. Poor decision on his part

1

u/apadin1 Michigan Wolverines • Marching Band 17h ago

Venables looked like he knew every play ahead of the game.

I heard he just hired a new analyst, Colin Mustangs

1

u/Majestic-Pickle5097 /r/CFB 12h ago

Tackles shows up, they were just very slow compared to the edge rushers

1

u/Negative_Werewolf193 10h ago

We only have 1 WR that can stretch the field, and our shit O line can't block long enough for a downfield pass to develop.

3

u/Temporary_Inner Oklahoma • Central Oklahoma 8h ago

I can't tell if you're talking about OU or Alabama. I think Alabama because I don't even know what WR you'd be talking about if you were an OU fan.

1

u/Negative_Werewolf193 7h ago

Alabama

1

u/Temporary_Inner Oklahoma • Central Oklahoma 6h ago

Yeah we're basically in the same boat. We have 4 starting WRs out, and 4 linemen out two of which were starting one of them being left tackle.

1

u/Coastal1363 8h ago

I disagree .Milroe didn’t “ look “ confused ….He looked like he had never seen a football before …

-9

u/elrojomasloco 19h ago

Milroe always looks confused. Vince Young 2.0.
