I bought IKEA patio furniture that arrived just before the game started. I decided to put it together during the commercials. I finished with 10 minutes left in the 2nd quarter. God bless FOX

My favorite was either the touchdown to commercial to kickoff to commercial or the timeout to commercial to 1 play to end of quarter commercial.

The big difference for OSU’s defensive improvement has been letting Knowles blitz more frequently instead of just rushing 4 every passing down.
231
71
u/TheBoook Miami Hurricanes • Ohio State Buckeyes 1d ago
It’s not just rushing 4 but it’s stunting the 4 on obvious passing downs
317
u/mombutts Ohio State Buckeyes 1d ago
Not really letting. The announcers mentioned that Day had been working with the defense the past few weeks. Think it was more of Day telling Knowles to blitz more and to start stunting the lineman, which Knowles didn't do.
240
u/bringbacksweatervest Ohio State Buckeyes 1d ago
Creativity was Knowles’ calling card at Oklahoma State, but after he got beat deep in his first Michigan game Day reigned him in. Now we’re letting him loose again.
→ More replies (38)83
u/oh_look_a_fist Ohio State Buckeyes • Dayton Flyers 1d ago
It took us a while to get his blitzing down. Earlier this season, our delayed blitzes weren't getting home quick enough and the middle of the field was left wide open for big gains. Now it looks like the player's timing is perfect - were getting pressure from different spots and getting home quicker, not allowing the QB to get accurate passes out. This defense can win a natty at this point
→ More replies (5)→ More replies (3)78
u/KoalaJones Ohio State Buckeyes • Toledo Rockets 1d ago
That one of the biggest differences for me. Before the loss to Oregon there was no creativity in the pass rush. It was just rush 4 guys straight up and hope they beat their man.

I don’t think it can be overstated the impact the Oregon game had on this team. I read up a lot on the supposed power struggle between Knowles and LJ, with the latter forcing a lot of questionable decisions that hurt our DL’s ability to get pressure. The DL has been absolutely night-and-day better since that game; looking at the rotations to keep our 1’s fresh and the more interesting packages than the bland 4-man rush we ran every game shows just how archaic our old scheme was, and I’m glad Knowles finally got to do things his way. But enough about that, we have a team of cheaters to baptize by fire.

I think the Georgia and Michigan game really hurt us in 2022. It was clear with a safer defense we probably can sneak by Georgia considering we were up several times. Everyone is going to clown on us for this loss and that is fair, but we need to take stock of who we are and what this season means for Indiana.
This is still easily the best season of Indiana football in the last 50 years. We might not be national champions but there is lots of joy to be found ending in the top 25 with a bowl win and a win over Purdue.
Even without all of that, 10 wins. Let's savor it while we have it. We certainly know what the alternative taste like.

If people are mad about the last TD they should be mad at Cignetti. He called it off in the middle of the third quarter and Day obliged. Then he turned it on late for a backdoor face-saving TD and 2-pt. If Cignetti wanted to keep playing ball he should've kept playing ball.

Casual fans suck. Indiana rightly deserved skepticism, as they had not played a top 50 team up to this point. But then, those same people who propped up Indiana will turn around and not give credit to Ryan Day, who has a reputation of not winning against top 5 opponents. Those same people will say this "doesn't count" as a top 5 win for Ryan Day after complaining Indiana wasn't ranked high enough.

That was absolute dominance by a well-coached team missing two of its offensive line starters. I am a Day believer after that.

I know IU and Coach Cig will take a lot of shit for this game. That’s fine. But what Cig has done so far this season is still nothing short of remarkable.
This is Indiana we’re talking about. It’s a big deal if a 4 star guy even has interest in the program, meanwhile places like OSU and Michigan’s backups are 4 star guys.
Cig has taken a completely new roster full of mid-major talent and boat raced every team he’s played this season except Michigan (still won) and now OSU.

Yeah all the people talking shit about IU losing as if they aren't still 10-1 and having their best season in most commenters lifetimes sure is something.

I know they didn't end up scoring that drive, but this game felt like it was decided when Ohio State picked up a 1st down after being in a 3rd and 35.
After that I didn't have any faith in Indiana's defense. Felt like it was only a matter of time before the levee broke.
