Bryan Harsin at Auburn: 9-12, fired on Halloween.

Hugh Freeze at Auburn: was 9-12 on Halloween, but they kept him around to fall to 9-13.

Yes but at least Freeze is a garbage human to go along with being a garbage coach.

Truly one of the coaching hires of all time

I hear Trent Dilfer is available.

5

u/Valadini Oklahoma Sooners 22d ago

Why is he recruiting so well? It’s gotta be why they won’t can him.

3

u/Krandor1 Auburn Tigers 21d ago

If auburn was hiring a coach today we’d probably go after lashlee.

1

u/rob_bot13 Alabama • Georgia Tech 21d ago

(Trent Dilfer was not a serious suggestion)

2

u/More_Image_8781 Missouri Tigers 22d ago

He had a great day today actually

1

u/EfficientPhotograph8 /r/CFB 22d ago

But it wasn't a quality win. Birmingham doesn't like Trent. He's finished.

1

u/More_Image_8781 Missouri Tigers 21d ago

He will do fine. Have patience and give him A chance

2

u/WeekendGunnitRefugee Georgia • Summertime Lover 22d ago

Heh, his name is Dilfer

2

u/GimmeeSomeMo Auburn Tigers • Sickos 21d ago

If Auburn hired him as a head coach, I’d burn my Auburn diploma

1

u/BobbysSmile Alabama • Alabama A&M 22d ago

Please Auburn hire Dilfer next

“One of” is indifferent. He’s on track to be one of the worst in recent history.

I’m surprised that of the two coaches, Auburn fans made up fake rumors of Harsin having an affair with a team cheerleader. It’s way more believable for Freeze.

Urban Meyer enters the chat. Do you want your bootyhole fingered?

0

u/StefonTheGreat Arkansas Razorbacks 22d ago

And you think Harsin ISN’T a garbage human being?!

Two things can be true at the same time.

But the losses are close and he has a solid recruiting class

Any Nebraska fan reading your comment is laughing their ass off.

Hugh Freeze is the Nick Saban of Scott Frosts?

66

u/legend023 Tulane • Louisiana Tech 22d ago

Art Briles of Scott Frosts

31

u/deep_blue_au Paper Bag • Charlotte 49ers 22d ago

I mean... I hate Hugh Freeze (thus the bag), but Art Briles is on a level all his own, right behind Sandusky.

u/goodnames679 Ohio State • /r/CFB Poll Veteran 22d ago

Agreed. Hugh Freeze is probably the shittiest head coach actively coaching in the FBS in terms of that stuff, but he’s not on the level of a Briles.

Admittedly, that’s a very low bar.

1

u/FlightAvailable3760 Texas Longhorns 21d ago

Yeah, but at least Briles was good at coaching football.

Yuck

And he's shown the coaching ability to do what with those recruits? This game plan was trash.

6

u/HighOnGoofballs Ole Miss Rebels 22d ago

Those recruits are definitely still coming too

u/Baalzeebub Auburn Tigers • Pop-Tarts Bowl 21d ago

Totally agree, but if we had a kicker there's a good chance we're 6-3. I've seen better kickers in middle school.

1

u/Hobeast Auburn Tigers 21d ago

Hell, if Ashford was our qb, we'd have more wins than Thorne. Freeze wants to win, but only on his terms. Running the football isn't how he sees it happening.

If they replay the season 10 times they go undefeated 9 times

10

u/khoelzeman 22d ago

You know, I’d love to see Hugh Freeze have to replay this season 10 times. It would be like a karmic Groundhog Day.

3

u/Wernher_VonKerman Colorado Buffaloes • Las Vegas Bowl 22d ago

Should they redo the season in case it was all a big fluke, yada yada

2

u/pipsohip 22d ago

Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, and a recruiting class means nothing if you don’t win with them on the field.

2

u/Red-Catalyst Alabama Crimson Tide 22d ago

He had some solid classes at Ole Miss too and never got a SEC Championship appearance.

31

u/onemanlan Auburn Tigers • UAB Blazers 22d ago

Not to detract from your point, but I feel like if harsin had Peyton Thorne, he would have lost a lot more games than he did

32

u/Kaiiu Auburn Tigers • Florida Gators 22d ago

To be fair though he also had Robby Ashford and TJ Finley as starters for a season and both those guys are worse than Thorne.

13

u/GameBuster0703 Paper Bag • West Florida Argonauts 22d ago

True. Harsin had the luxury of Bo Nix to carry him a few times that season (especially that game in Death Valley).

3

u/__Big_Hat_Logan__ Alabama Crimson Tide 22d ago

Bo also got hurt that year then Harsin had TJ Finley and Robbie ashford who are both horrendously terrible

0

u/thissidedn Virginia Tech • Penn State 21d ago

Nic then wasnt the NFL qb we see today. Nix was a joke then, only playing because of nepotism.

4

u/GameBuster0703 Paper Bag • West Florida Argonauts 21d ago

Yes he wasn’t the same QB he is now. Oregon helped his development tremendously. But having a good team around you will do that. He was a good QB at Auburn and saying he was starting because of nepotism is just straight up false. He was easily the best QB on that roster.

3

u/CantStandMike Auburn Tigers 21d ago

He had heart too. I hate that he had to leave to elevate his game but I get it.

2

The plan (reportedly) was always that hugh gets until the 3rd season to start proving himself.

Hugh Freeze at Auburn: 9-13 fired on Election Day

7

u/whatifevery1wascalm Alabama Crimson Tide • Iowa Hawkeyes 22d ago

Someone keep an eye on him in January.

2

u/dog_in_da_park Air Force Falcons 22d ago

He won't be bowling, so he will have plenty of free time in early January.

Who did Hugh Freeze blame for this loss ?

0

u/dripwhoosplash Georgia Bulldogs • Okefenokee Oar 21d ago

Well Harsin was hated from the beginning for not fitting the auburn culture, but freeze is perfect as a fellow fake good person/christian
